Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This CZcams channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

hi rick just entering the giveaway really need a new driver.would definitely go for a ping or a cobra. would definitely give me more of an advantage since currently i have a callaway ft.i which isn’t a very forgiving driver.
Hi rick just entering hoping to get it as. I think a Ping g425 Driver would be newer than an r7 425. First handicap last year was 42 now 28 so looking for more forgiveness.

This really puts into perspective how much more difficult the amateur courses are because of the bumpy greens.

its true my local courses have lots of greens where you legit cant putt even if your a god, the holes and divots and bumps left unrepaired and awful
Honestly, I don't think I have ever wanted someone to succeed more in my life. How likable is James. He just seems to be such a stand up fellow. I think this could be a new series Trying for course records with you and other PGA tour players or pro golfer buddies.

I was lucky enough to be on the course that day watching James. His ball striking is another level and he is such a nice chap, always smiling and both James and Rick happy to chat to the members the whole way round the course. The par 3’s on our course are tough and he made it look easy. Just a few loose puts and couple of drives out of position on the day….but I guess that’s all it takes…Amazing content Rick thanks for coming. Everyone at the course is buzzing about the video. Tick on the bucket list for me, thanks for the selfie!!! Hope to see you both in the summer for the Max Faulkner challenge ….hopefully someone breaks the record then!
Just proves that courses don't have to be long to be challenging. Premium on straight is always difficult. Nice layout. Have one of these short 9s with double tees nearby that I need to play more frequently.
How old is your course? It looks like a delightful, yet challenging 9/18 holes. I was wondering why they chose winter to do this, not so forgiving. I think summer will see a new record round. Hope there's another video for when the Max Faulkner challenge is on.
“Beat the Course Record”. This would be an entertaining series with PGA Pros attempting to break various course records. James is a cool dude and a joy to watch. Good job to you Rick for awesome narration.

Pretty amazing to see a player this good have a go at a course like this, there are so many small courses that just play hard. Hope to see more videos like this!
As a beginner golfer it’s so good to see how tour professionals play on a public course. James was so unlucky on some holes but that’s how golf is. It would be good to see him come back and break this course record. Keep the videos coming
@@danielwake7621 my local course has every green on a 15+foot hill. if you miss it you are chipping 15 feet up blind onto a tiny ass green. so many times chips roll over lol

Well said. Was thinking the same. Even had a laugh about it! Looked like he was playing in a mud pit....tricky conditions.
This was so refreshing to see a different style of course. It's so nice to see shorter, tigher courses. Wish there were more of these on the PGA Tour instead of just massive fairway and 600 yard Par 5's..

started golfing this month absolutely love it have watched your videos everyday constantly i can honestly say they are so amazing and helpful seeing how good golfers play and your teaching videos
I love you showing us how pros fare on courses we play. Looks like a super tough course to score on based on the hole selections (no par 5s), layout and distances. I’d love to see how he plays in summer conditions.
A par 64 course is usually a lot tougher than people think! I was a member of a par 64 course. It was a full 18 holes, but everything was so tight and unforgiving. Not a surprise that the course record is only 1 over

If there's anything I learn from James, it's how he keeps his mental game in check. He's always laughing, always smiling, and never lets the bad shots get to him. He's a cool little addition to the channel when you have him on! Keep up the good work Rick!

I am new to golf and since i started, i followed this channel and it helped me a lot. watching them hit the fairway is a lot of help giving me inputs on how to play the game. thumbs up and looking forward for more videos like this.
It would be interesting to have James play this course again in the summer with better conditions to see if his score would differ. Great video!

Errrrrrr I’m local it’s harder when dry.
With winter garbage greens, and his first time around. I'm sure he could break it if he tried again (once or twice) in the summer.
I would like to see James have another go at this challenge during the dryer months of the year as I think he would be able do it.👍

I love seeing pros play on everyday courses. It shows the beauty of some local spots while also showing that those courses can be just as tough
the green conditions a bit bummer. even flow and faster green which he's probably use to might have helped
That's part of the reason the course record is so high
I would be curious to know when the record was set. I find it hard to believe some random golfer scored +1 with how terrible those greens are. Obviously they’re in much better condition in the summer
If they hosted an NCAA division 3 tournament someone would shoot 2-3 under without at doubt. A division 1 or any level tour event 59’s like they are cool. Guys will get the ball in the hole no matter what the conditions are. And yeah some will struggle just like any other course.
That was exciting. Just goes to show you that even a professional golfer can have a hard time on a narrow course.

Yeah.. the greens are rough.. It would probably take him only a few outings to master them though.
James is such a good sport, seems to be an absolute delight to play with. While watching, I felt a strong feeling of actually wanting him to succeed, like it was my national football-team playing in the World Cup.

I was a member here for about 17 years. Managed to get down to 5 with a best round of 67. I had many 9 holes level but as with many amateurs the mind then starts to play with you (especially when playing the same holes twice).
Due to how tight it is and the long par 3s it's one of the hardest courses I know, and strangely, although local knowledge is helpful, the more you play it the tougher it seems sometimes.
I've seen many comments saying come back in summer. Granted the lies will be better, the greens smoother and faster and you'll get a lot more roll off the tee shots but the firmer greens and the fact most are all slightly raised does not mean it makes it significantly easier, plus you can get a few odd bounces.
Would be great to watch.
I actually marked the card of the previous course record (there must have been a course change / tweak since it was achieved) as it was a level par 64.
New to the channel, but already looking forward to you returning to Pastures in the summer.

Rick, have you ever considered doing a series where you go around to different courses and try to break the records there? You could do it with other CZcams golfer and friends, or even the individual who holds the course record (if they are available and willing to participate).
He’s not that good
He did break 75 series last year at new courses... think he only broke 75 once or twice if I remember correctly

never been into golf seriously but i’m getting into with my father and grandfather as he’s getting older. give us something to cherish all together! these videos give me hope that i can flourish and have a good time in a complicated leisure sport

The fact that James was that calm throughout the entire time he was playing is really impressive. I also feel like if he was to come back in some better conditions, he would be a lot closer to getting course record.
Some of those greens needed a ball with 4 wheel drive!

You got to love James. It just wasn't his day on the greens. What I liked most about James is the big smile when things weren't going his way and he didn't give any excuses for poor shots. Quality guy.

This video was amazing to watch. It’s amazing to watch a tour pro play. He didn’t play his best golf by a long shot and it was still amazing golf to watch. I’d die to be that talented. So fun listening to Rick and james talk about strategy. They are living the dream!
After watching James struggle on this course, now I realize that these difficult public courses are what's hurting my game. I'm probably a scratch golfer on a nice championship course...and with a new driver! Haha! Loved watching James have a go at this course record, he seems such a nice guy that he probably didn't want to take it away from the locals.
Hey Rick, so nice to see you both on a "normal golf course", with greens with patches, etc. I enjoyed to see James struggling a bit, but surely in the summer you should be able to make the record!
