How To Replace A Lamp Socket

In this video, I replace the lamp socket for a 3-way bulb. This procedure is similar for a standard (non 3-way) bulb socket like a push-through switch. Make note of the wires as you take the socket apart, mine were NOT colored individually and are easy to mix-up. Hot/ Live/ Black wire goes to the gold/ brass terminal, and the Neutral/ White wire will go to the silver terminal.
**Always exercise caution when working on any electrical device, and make sure it is unplugged and powered down before performing any kind of service**

Thanks, I had the pushed in type of wires, so had to pull gently to extricate them, and had to cut a bit of the vinyl housing to pull more of the wires to hook them over the screws for the new socket, but heck it worked!

Thankyou Sir , I have matching lamps and this was very helpful! I would not have known the gold screw on new fixture was positive. I marked the positive wire but I cut the wires off the terminals so I’ll have to strip them back . 😀
