    you should name this exact package, with no substitutions and put it for sale as a base model ready to go.
    The NYSH SRT scott1 etc. Then mod from there. Recommend 3 types to pick from for the saddles to go with it.
    You will sell way more. Too many options at once confuses some folks. The do the same thing for DRT .
    I would love to see you guys get some wealth from this its so very much earned.

      I have DRT kits , SRT kits , one stick kits. You can also choose from 3 different ropes . Or if your looking to just accessories. We can do that too . As far as naming the kits. They are known as NYSH kits . Don’t think I want to personalize it with my name. But I do appreciate the thought. Thanks Rob !!!

    You should see if a floating thimble between the hand ascender and a hitch will move the Blake's hitch up automatically, if it's rubber coated it will be quiet.

    With the Predator 11.4 line I use a 9mm Beeline 5 foot split-tail. Once u start using a split-tail there isn't much chance of ever going away from it once u try it. However u can put a micro pulley or hitchclimber device in there for self tending. You won't use that if for long if u start bumping deer while hunting close to bedding areas. Too much metal spoils the broth when u hook metal to metal.

    I use a similar setup ( part of the time ). I really like the idea of some kind of ascender ( foot or hand ) below the blake's hitch, just as a backup. I picked up a cheap set of foot ascenders from Amzn for around $30, but they don't feed as nicely as the hand ascenders do.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      Yea with a foot ascender you might want to tie a monkey fist on tge end of your rope so it feeds nice with that weight on your rope

      @@NYSaddleHunter I like to use a bowline knot to tie my heavier items to the tail end of the climbing line - no reason to be using a small pull-up line. Even with my pack tied on, using DRT, the end of the rope will eventually leave that pack sitting on the ground. It could just be that I have a low-quality foot ascender. Also, with the hand ascender, it's a little more bulk but then I don't have my bare hands touching my scent free boots [ another win for the hand ascender ]. All that to say, hand-ascender for the win, and yes, pack tied to the tail end.

      I’m using a left. It does somewhat, You should pull with your dominant. The micro pulley should face away from you . It will make it easier to install and remove hand ascender with the action facing you .

    What is your experience using MRS on sappy pine trees? The only thing holding me back from buying this right now is the concern about the rope picking up a ton of sap passing over a branch or crotch. And how does sap affect the performance of the rope, friction hitch, and ascender?

    • @NYSaddleHunter

      We avoid sappy trees . If you want to use this method on pine trees Id w recomend using a tube friction saver to protect your rope. Heres a video on adding a fruction saver

    Thanks for sharing this setup, very motivating as the time efficiency is very good. Was wondering, What's the longest time you've waited out on a hunt in the tree until you get a catch or what's been the soonest time you've got a catch since entering up the tree? Would be interesting to hear you and Scott do a collaborative discussion on your hunts with these questions in mind.

    Have you tried the 8mm split tail on an 8mm rope like some of the sterling 8mm? Using a blake's hitch it should be OK I would think?

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      Havent tried it. Generally speaking its better to have the hitch a smaller size than the rope. It tends to bite and hold nicer. Also with thinner rope it bites into your hands so you would need a hand ascender and I think 8mm is at the bottom end of the spec . I tend to favor being closer to the sweet spot of the spec like 9-10mm

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      So For DRT yes no peoblem. My only concern is we are using a 8mm split tail on 9.5mm rope in this video and it tends to bind alot andvwe are both at around 200-220lbs Id assume a 270 lb climber it might bind even more so you might want to see how well it worka for you might be better off with a diffrent rope combination we also sell HTP static wich us a larger diameter rope 11mm and if you use a 10mm split tail on that it might be a better combination for a heavier climber and not bind as much but its a little thicker rope however it will work fine for both DRT with a split tail and SRT . As for SRT Petzl does testing with these devices to a sport standard of 176 lbs 80kg falling into these devices. Remember they are generally used for rock climbing so falling into them you would generate alot more pressure than how we use them with progress capture. Petzl recomends for heavier climbers to just be vigilant with backing yourself up but this is when referring to devices like the grigri. I know of guys in the 250lb range who use them no issues. However for bigger guys you might want to step up to the petzl Rig which is similar but larger and designed to carry 2 people and heavier work loads also has a locking brake for hands free use . They are less sport more designed for work but it will require a larger diameter rope . Its phisicly larger and does cost more but has that heavier weight rating to feel more confident and it has a locking brake to go hands free. That is what Id probably recomend for bigger guys if you want to SRT climb . The petzl rig is tested to 200Kg thats more than twice the testing weight of the Grigris

    What makes the predator rope out of spec for climbing srt ?

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před rokem

      Well its out of spec to use the gri-gri+ or the madrock for RAD style SRT like we use . If you utilize a rope wrench or possibly a petzl rig it would work because predator is 10.5mm rope . The Grigri rope spec is 8.5mm -11mm so its just a little too big. I discussed this with a Petzle rep and as if I could use 11.5mm rope in the grigri and he said " Absolutly Not"
      Ive tried it and it worked fine but for safety reasons they recomend against it so I stay in the spec because its the safer course of action. Not sure what the larger rope could do but its deemed unsafe.

    Would you consider adding a video that shows you using this method - but pre-tie it at home it up at home, then unpacking it and putting it up into the tree. I am probably missing something. If the blake's hitch is pre-tied then it would have to go up and over the limb. I would think it might get stuck on some of those tight crotches.

      @@NYSaddleHunter that's what I would do as well. The only problem is that I have experienced trees with a tricky crotch or a false crotch where a caribiner attaching the spliced eye to the paracord loop gets hung up and I have to instead use the straight end of the climbing g rope and use the choke knot with the paracord loop. Oklahoma has gnarly trees, lots of Hackberry with nasty bark and areas where 20 foot climbing trees are hard to find. So your new method appeals to me but I wouldn't be able to use it on all my trees unless I undo Blake's hitch and re tie at the tree.

    • @jeffsalsieder640
      @jeffsalsieder640 Před rokem

      I have preset about 50 trees. One of them was actually truly straight AND the perfect diameter. Holy man! That was incredible to actually experience full 360 around the tree hunting. That was really fun. Mostly I am cramped in at bizarre angles with reduced arcs of shooting. Oklahoma is not a saddle hunters paradise. But I can harvest 8 whitetails per year. So I guess it evens out.

      I try to choose larger crotch so as to make it easier to pull the climbing line into it and the way I attach the rope to the paracord it pulls it through straight and its rarely a problem ' when it is we use a rolling wave technique to roll the rope like a wave up through the crotch but its usually not a problem.

  • @recallthehunt

    could you show us exactly how you pull your rope up with the split tail attached. Seems like it would get stuck in the crotch with all that on your rope.

    • @josephtreadlightly5686
      @josephtreadlightly5686 Před rokem

      The only thing u pull up over the crotch is the sewn end with a paracord loop. U simply take that loop & put in on the line using a pile hitch. I like to tighten down that paracord like 9-12" away from the sewn end. That way there's a double rope coming over the crotch. When that sewn loop flips over the crotch u can pull it down in no time & attach it to the carabiner in your system. Not all sewn loops r the same & the sewn end on the Sterling 9.5mm static line is as good as I've seen or used.
