It seems there are two versions of the Tab 4 8 Plus which have different ways of installing the micro SD card. I have the WLAN version. This doesn't have a card tray. It has a slot for a micro SD card (which you just push in the slot - it has a sort of spring-eject mechanism). Also I found the card was not initially recognized by the device. So I formatted the card on my laptop first and put it back in the tablet - then it was recognized and the device detected it and gave me some options for formatting and installation.

Anyone having problems with the sd card regularly not getting recognized (i have a tab 4 8- doesnt seem to have a tray just a slot for micro sd card) with a message asking for you to reinsert the card again? Sometimes the card seems to move out of the slot slightly when checking it and other times it appears to be inserted still and yet the device thinks it is removed. Quite frustrating. I noticed many other ppl have had this problem also. Is this a hardware fault? is there a work around to make sure the sd card stays put?

I'm currently having the same issue, my SD just randomly "ejects" itself despite still being in the slot untouched.

@@RobinDude It finally settled and haven't had an issue since. But must of ejected about 6 times over the couple of days first using it. I almost took it back. But its fine. So keep trying. Try and take it out completely then put it back in. I think that is what i did in the end.

Daz30 I’ve been struggling with the issue for about a month now, and last night I figured it out. My Tab 4 doesn’t have the tray, just the.. cover thing. I figured out that if I held down the cover with my finger it would read my SD Card, the second I lifted my finger though it’d eject my Card. I had to just uh.. hold the cover down and put a small piece of tape over it LOL. It hasn’t ejected since.
