There are other numbers which when put into the equation also work why when using the euclidean algorithm are y = 21 and x = - 7 the only ones that come out?

Because the Euclidean Algorithm works for finding a particular solution, in this case (-7,21). But from such a particular solution you can find all the others through parametrization, i.e, x=-7+3t; y=21-8t.

Please do not use X as multiplication symbol. It's confusing and can be mistaken for a variable. Just use ( ) , or even a dot. There is absolutely no reason to write it this way, esp. at this level of mathematics.

No its not confusing at all even for a teacher at this level of mathematics

How dare you come at my boy like this, I'll have you know I am from an East Melbourne gang and I'll set the dogs on you. My dad also works at XBOX and he will ban your account.

why simplify it at the beginning? does that not defeat the purpose

what if HCF = 2 and you want the solution to Ax+By=7?

By Bezout's Identity, the solution does not exist.

    8x + 3y = 7. Taking mod 3 gives -x = 1 mod 3, so x = -1. Then y = 5.
