Nero Wolfe is a fictional detective, created in 1934 by the American mystery writer Rex Stout. Wolfe's confidential assistant Archie Goodwin narrates the cases of the detective genius. Stout wrote 33 novels and 39 short stories from 1934 to 1974, with most of them set in New York City.
Nero Wolfe is described as a “detective genius who rates the knife and fork the greatest tools ever invented by man”. What we're saying is that Wolfe is a . . . large man, weighing “a seventh of a ton”. Wolfe is also known for his expensive tastes, living in a comfortable and luxurious New York City brownstone on West 35th Street. Nero Wolfe is famous for trying to never leave his brownstone on business, his associate, Archie does the legwork, while Nero takes the pieces and solves the puzzle.
Nero Wolfe has been portrayed in four radio drama series on five different networks.
In the New Adventures of Nero Wolfe, Sydney Greenstreet starred as Wolfe. "Rex thought Greenstreet a splendid choice for the role and Greenstreet did, in fact, fill every reasonable expectation," wrote Stout biographer John McAleer. "The wryness of Wolfe, for which Archie's drollery is a whetsone, was not felt in the earlier interpretations. A succession of Archies included Gerald Mohr, Herb Ellis, Lawrence Dobkin, Harry Bartell, Lamont Johnson and Wally Maher. William Johnstone was heard semi-regularly as Inspector Cramer.

Very different from the ones I usually hear, but I like it, good mystery, great cast, and a lot of fun.
I do admit thought, it took a few moments to get use to Wolfe not being played by Sydney Greenstreet.

SJ R Sounds like Peter Lory.🤔
@@mikemarzett8833 You are right!
@@mikemarzett8833 Yes, but it's Peter Lorre, the great.
Bo Breda you are correct. My bad on the spelling!
In regard to the spelling of his name, fame is it's own reward, an I think he would not mind,as we all applaud him.
Peter iorre😂
This isn't Mr. Greenstreet,Greentree, I don't recognize his voice?

@@ComicWeb Thank you! :)
The chintzy Sweeneys who wouldn't lay out rope to continue the Mollé Mystery Theater doomed their public as well as their wonderful host Peter Lorre to a short horizon. The then-marqued Mystery Playhouse ran but a season, unheralded by good admen & unremembered now; it's a pleasure to hear Mr.Lorre's effort for the unappreciative turn up here, & in the absence of his MMT opening "hello, creeps!" the sponsor's conspicuous absence is its own condemnation.
-----Anybody here bought Mollé Shave Cream lately? Me neither. See?
Though afN of Mr.Lorie even if I spelled his name wrong Im ignorant an didn't catch your drift.
thanks for the info, will try molle
I'm not against Chrome just don't know much about it,an fear of the imagined other,U will overcome this false fear.
