great commentary by Daniel and Jay, please work together again.
Best comment from the commentator was "the beauty of pool is that you have to prove yourself over and over again" - that's the truth man.
I ought to get a T-shirt made that says:
It doesn't matter how good you are,
What matters is how good you are NOW
Bravo! excellent job commentating on this fingernail cliff hanger !
exciting match! liked the climax and comeback
I VOTE earl Strickland to be a commentator for when he is not playing.
i rather wanna see a scotch double efren-strickland kicking other players ass
This match was really close. Props to both players!
Dennis Hatch more like Dennis Scratch (no disrespect dennis just messin around)
thanks for the up
POV Pool, my pre-UPA game ritual, You guys are awesome. Didn't Hardtimes just had a tourney a couple of days ago? Can't wait to see it.
This ref is a piece of work.
I watched a match between Efren and Dennis years ago when Dennis was in his late teens or early twenties. Efren whipped Dennis as if he had stolen Efren's cue stick. Anyhow, I haven't watched any of Dennis Hatch's matches since. This only the second time I watch him play and again with Efren -- good Lord! how Dennis Hatch changed. The dude was a nice, good looking kid, now he looks like a big lumberjack.
We love u efren. The on dude to beat earl in a long, long set.. For $100,000 too..!!
That shot Efren made at 40:42 was an incredible shot. You don't see that very often. Not even from the worlds top players. And at 59 years old, Efrens still a threat to anyone.
after watching the entire video i also picked that as 'the shot' of the match before reading your comments.
Roy, I appreciate that. A lot of people that don't know the game that well, wouldn't even realize how good a shot it was.✌️
I've been playing for several years. lots of experience. and at best for me, with the same spin and speed i'll make it maybe 50% of the time.
it's a hard shot but it's there....hell Shane hits truly incredible stuff all the time, all these guys do.
WHAT A MATCH!!! DON'T MISS IT ALL !!!
I'm to the first rack and that power draw got the guy already. That's a shot you don't see Efren make very often because he don't have to. He will if he has to but he places the cue ball so well and he knows it's hard to predict a draw shot.
When they said Dennis was thanking the pool gods! You mean he was thanking the only Pool God of pro players which is the one hes playing Efren Reyes! The Goat, The Maestro, The living legend, and The Magician himself! Dont fool yourself The Pool God is just playing with y'all when he wants to, hes still an elite maybe older but mind still there! Dont bet money with The Pool God
Efren is 60 and still sharp early morning so no excuse
+JustChillin2587 Saw Dennis in a tournament in Beloit last year. They started playing at 11 AM and he was doing shots and beers by 2. I'm pretty sure that early morning is no fun for that guy.
I heard HARD TIMES closed. That marks the end of the professional game in America. Pool, the great game we lost
54:03 I totally agree with Jay. They play 10 ball with 9 ball rules for money matches in the Phillipines (they call it Lucky 10 Ball). The only reason money players the world over prefer 10 ball to 9 is that it's harder to consistently make balls on the break, and because the money ball rarely goes.
A
01:19:44 thats why he's the goat. Called it. Made it.
That last shot by Dennis was really bad judgement, should've went for safety at this point. Besides the sloppy first few racks this was a nice game.
+Daniel Petrov yeah, should have played safe there, just roll cue ball soft so it will go behind the ten and 8 tights up to the rail, even Efren can see it and make a bank on 8, no guarantee position for the 9.
absolutely agree, that was miss judge from Hatch. it was much easier to cut it in the corner then to bank it
For those of you just joining us, the score is, ???????
1:19:40
That's why efren is my love
lol shakes hand then punches a wall. I've never seen that before
I wonder where efren stay whenever he visits usa? Does he has a house there?
It depends on where he stays in the U.S. - He does not have a house here but, I know on the West Coast he has a couple of handlers and stays with a few family friends.
Am I the only one who has never been impressed by dennis' game?
they said efren looked up and ask why me to the pool gods. Again theres only one Pool God which is him Efren bata Reyes!
"Dennis is upset he's hitting things" Things could get a lot worse with Dennis
These commentators are not professionals but they still did a good job. Better than most I have listened to.
may be they are not pro commentators, but seems to me that they are pro players
In my book willy mascono is the GOAT in straight pool he's record 500 ball run still stands until that's passed ,he will remain the best

I'm just the opposite, I think every game should be call shot to take luck out of the equation ! JMO
I agree, these guys are pro players and they should have to call every shot, even in 9 Ball. Jay said people love to see a ball slopped in, I disagree, I do not want to see a pro get rewarded for slopping a ball in.
Thank you!
He throw the ball vs efren.. 2018 hahhahha
Wasnt pretty, but i'll watch anything with Efren at the table.
Jay Helfert seriously? 10 ball rules the same as 9 ball? 10 ball is better because you can't make slop.
Efren played as bad as he possibly could and still won, I got lucky
You DONT win by making #10 on break, but you can win sloppily?
i really think these guys talking need to focus on the match at hand.
Dennis scratch.hahaha
Scratching against Reyes since 1991
nothing exciting about a pro slopping a ball in. they are pros should not be luck in any of the games they play.
LOL "I bet he's nervous, he will be until he wins his first rack" UMMM NO, Hatchet man doin his thang, don't you go putting your own personal pool problems on other people. Some people are actually in total control of their emotions believe it or not.
Dennis walkn while efryen shooting is bad sportsmanship....
When they say Efren is approaching 60 and not the dominant player he once was, I disagree. Maybe the travel has worn on him over the years but many men at this age can continue to improve for many years to come. I think he wins less because the competition has stepped up. Tiger Woods is a good example. Once he thrashed everyone and now many players are at his level.
In both Efren and Tigers case, they have medical issues. Efren has battled arthritis even when he was younger he was slathering on arthritis cream on his elbow and wrist.
Dennis Scratch. JK! Sorry Dennis just not your day.
'4.5" on a diamond is like 4.25 on a gold crown' lmao okay jay
Efren's birthday is August 26, 1954.
Really hate how people zoom in on age. Ageism is alive and well, but people need to start dropping that crap.
This commentary tho
I could do better
The commentators need to find another line of work.
Great match!!!
