- After many warnings about the safety of traveling through El Salvador it was time to see it for myself. Crossing through 3 towns on Ruta de las Flores I got to experience a local food festival. To my surprise I felt really safe and met many genuine, joyful and kind people along the way.

Robbie, this video brought tears to my eyes. I had to run away from my country because of the violence and to see tourist finally appreciating my country and seeing all the happy faces of the locals makes me so happy. thank you for showing this side of El Salvador to the world

En los lugares turísticos casi nunca han tenido problema los extranjeros, en el 2011 visite Ataco y me sorprendio ver muchos extranjeros que ni siquiera hablaban español. En perquin siempre ha sido comun tambien encontrar extranjeros.

Exagerado El Salvador siempre fue seguro para los turistas. Muy extraña vez le paso algo a uno. Los que sentimos el cambio somos el pueblo
No hay que ser exagerado tampoco, en la ruta de las flores siempre se ha podido andar así de tranquilo como anda el amigo Robbie.
@Wilfredo Martinez Es cierto lo que dice Veronica. Los extranjeros (no se les conoce como 'blancos') siempre han andado sin problema porque la mayor parte de crímenes violentos estaban relacionados con las pandillas y los sectores bajo su control. Las clases trabajadoras y media baja también eran sujetas a la delincuencia, principalmente robos. En general, los extranjeros siempre son protegidos por las autoridades y no ambulan por lugares peligrosos. Siempre han llegado evangélicos gringos o de otros países de occidente, o sea que la gente esta acostumbrada a ellos. Los salvadoreños son gente muy acogedora y no tienen prejuicios contra extranjeros ya sean europeos, asiáticos o lo que sea. En general, se asume que si eres extranjero tienes plata y eres fiable.

Thank you for posting this. I was born in Canada but my parents and family immigrated here after having to seek refuge from the war many years ago. I’ve never been able to visit as it was always very dangerous. Now that things and circumstances have changed I’ll finally be able to visit this year🙏🏻😭 it’s really emotional for me. I thank god that God has used the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele for changing it for the better!

I am in El Salvador right now with my wife, my mom and two young children’s. This is my first time after 40 years. . I feel so happy to be here and be able to see all the places I heard about when I was younger. The country feels very safe now and everyone are so happy the way it is now

Hay gracias que bonito lugar entre las nuves.
Compadre si eres vegano,vegetariano etc,el país te da muchas opciones, las pupusas de frijol,chayote o loroco ,la youca (sin chicharrón),tamales,sopa de verduras o de frijoles con Aguacate y chirimol etc etc. El problema es que nuestra gente es muy tímida y no está acostumbrada a las cámaras ni a extranjeros,pero en su mayoría tratarán de ayúdate y darte lo que buscas. Espero disfrutes el pais,saludos.

@@kilderbanegasgarcia7538 siempre he pensado que debe ser un poco difícil para los vegetarianos encontrar buena comida en comedores o restaurantes porque la mayoría de platos principales son con carne. Otros platos como sopas de mora o chipilín, pipianes rellenos, envueltos de guisquil son menos comunes de encontrar, en restaurantes no, al menos. Y cosas como las papas al horno y los vegetales siempre son de acompañamiento.

I'm from Apaneca there's another Lake called "Laguna de las ninfas" is in between Apaneca and Laguna Verde, Also the lady mentioned you can't swim there cause they drink/use that water for their daily basis, great video 👌

Nice video. In Juayua you missed “Chorros de la Calera” which is a nice waterfall, you can google it to see how beautiful it is. The lady at the lagoon meant that it is forbidden to swim because “the lagoon can swallow you” meaning you can drown. There might be some algae you can get entangled with and not being able to keep swimming.

Really great video! outside the big cities you may have a hard time finding vegan/vegetarian dishes. Re: 4:00 indeed, as tourism increases people will catch up with new offerings besides restaurants, I think in Ruta de las flores they are already doing great on this regard.
Sister and I are vegans/vegetarians and yes, it can be hard. The places that REALLY NEED to catch up are the supermarkets.
Most people eat meat, that´s why in most places all the main dishes have meat. Maybe if more vegan or vegetarian people come and ask for that kind of dish, they could include some in the menu.
In El Salvador We have and eat a lot of vegetables and tropical fruits.

Welcome to our Band new beautiful country , that what makes El Salvador different than others places to visit. Original y Real , enjoy
amigo, te recomiendo que visites "los planes de renderos", es un lugar muy turístico situado en la capital del país. ahí puedes encontrar también comida libre de carne, tal cual son las tortas de maíz, las riguas, la yuca frita, yuca sancochada, pupusas de frijol con queso, de queso con loroco, de queso con ajo, etc. también hay bebidas tradicionales como distintos atoles(bebidas calientes) y los sabores son los de maiz, maíz tostado, de piñuela, atol chuco y así. si en algún momento necesitas alguien que te pueda guiar por la capital, estoy disponible.

Our cousine is not limited compared to other countries. We eat a variety of different meats, vegetables, fruits, legumes, etc. The problem is that the best food is the one we make at home for ourselves and our families, not necessarily the food that is sold on the streets or on restaurants. I live in Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in North America, and I've tried food from many different countries, and ethnicities and I can proudly say that we Salvadorans have nothing to envy.
If you're a pansy that don't eat meat I guess..
