This week, we worked hard on the Porsche 911 (996) Slantnose to get it running again. Of course that is not without many challenges. The oil cooler intermixed oil into the cooling system so we needed to clean out the whole system after installing the engine. We also install a very nice short shifter by Ben Auto Design and get the car aligned.

Well done Paul! Also, a 1600 Aircooled Bettle lump doesn't have any of that fancy water stuff, just sayin'. The coolant system flushing on that motor looks a right pain.

I’ve always been a fan of the slantnose and I love the body paint added to this 996. However, I’m not a fan of the color rule. Maybe color match the wheels and side mirrors the same as the interior which can be black. Or color match the side mirrors just the same as the body paint grey. Some type of 60, 30, 10 color rule has to apply. 60% grey body paint. 30% can be black or full commit to the red and keep the red wheels and red side mirrors. 10% can be blue.
I know the paint was done months ago but it’s still something that I can’t stop noticing to clean this build up. Maybe I’m not aware of the final vision of this car. I’m always going to be here supporting the channel. I’ve even paint stripped my 996 to bare metal and have primed my car. A big inspiration has come from this channel. I’d love to get a slantnose kit but I love the 996.2 look and gt3 aero kit look. So ultimately paint has been on my mind and you guys are the professionals!
