  • Immediately after a request to escort an ambulance) from a hospital in The Hague to a hospital in Rotterdam this officer from Team Verkeer Den Haag responds to this call.
3 officers were already at the hospital (2 motorcycles and 1 by car)
Usually escorting an ambulance takes 3 officers on motorcycles. In this scenario we decided to use the marked Volvo V70 as command-car. The marked VW Touran followed with the family on board.

Thankfully I live in a country where this is available to all citizens if they are in a critical condition. The people of the Netherlands should feel a collective sense of pride that these bike riders and ambulance drivers go to these lengths to help save lives because as a nation the people have decided it is the right thing to do. Though you will probably have the same problems as well, this already makes a huge difference. Average Dutch motorists don't use their mirrors that well so they miss out on these occasions most of the time.

Man, this ambulance escort is well organized and executed. In my country, an ambulance escort would be carried out with only one police on a bike, but that's quite an issue since they would often get stuck in unexpected traffic. As a result, most bikers in my country would often follow an ambulance and clear the roads until they arrived.

It's also about the other drivers actually paying attention and respecting the job that police and other emergency services do so they move over ASAP. That's not the case in a lot of places around the world, people are way more concerned with getting to work on time, getting home on time etc. because they're far too selfish.
You see similar nice videos from other parts of Europe as well, people really seem to have more respect for emergency services and the jobs that they do.
