Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of The Church.

I say Ralph Fiennes is due for an Oscar
Hallelujah…😮agreed!
Isn’t he just amazing?!
Screw the Oscars. These days they're for lackeys not for artistes worth their salt!
You are 100% correct
I can’t believe he’s still without an Oscar, such a travesty
They couldn't have chosen a better Actor, Ralph is supremely talented
"The party is over, Oskar."
And Lithgow is so amazing when you watch him in serious roles after 3rd rock from the Sun 😅
This is antisemitic.
Totally agree he is an excellent actor
@@Squadron_Bodron What and why?
Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini...what a cast!!!! I have not visited the Movie Theater for a loooong time. But I am on this one!!!!
The best of the best.
I hope Ralph Fiennes wins an oscar it's time
The guy oozes charisma.
He hasn't????!!!!!!! What?! That's a felony right there.
Yeah that guy is a fantastic actor.
Yes you are 100% correct.
He had to win many times. I hope the same , he wins😊.
I was waiting for Jude Law to come out with his Cherry Coke Zero
You might like to see the 🔥 Firebrand

And Voiello come in with his Maradona jersey.
Or Ewan McGregor break conclave and profess that he's the dead Pope's son!?
What a treat of a show. That ending, though
...
Really hoping Isabella Rossellini can score her first Oscar nomination for this.
totally!!
Doesn't seem like she's given much of a role here. Hopefully it's purposefully misleading.
She is evil. She defended Bruce Weber.

"There is one sin which I have come to fear above all others: certainty. If there was only certainty, and no doubt, there would be no mystery. And therefore, no need for faith."
Love this quote. I lived in Rome from 2003 - 2006 during the transition from John Paul II to Benedict. That was an extraordinary year that would also make a great movie. I was in Rome in the last days of JPII, his demise, wake and funeral. I was also in St. Peter's Square when the newly elected Benedict appeared in the loggia & his first Mass as Pope. In all events, there was festivity, enthusiasm, color and lots of cheer. I don't understand why there's a striking difference in the way movies, books, and TV shows about the Vatican are presented from the reality I lived. As an artist, I'm so much for creative license. However, movies like these make me feel shortchanged. Life is rosier than we think. Cheers!
@@corinneromabiles2410 That would have been a remarkable time to be there. Of course, any time in Rome would be wonderful. I've never been, but a friend of mine was there earlier this year and decided he just had to go back again and booked his flight. Your experience and persepective sounds amazing. You're right, they always make the Vatican seem so dark and gravely serious. Pope John Paul ll was here in Toronto back in the 1980s and said Mass at a huge open air gathering. My dad was there as a volunteer; he was so glad to be there.
@@corinneromabiles2410 I agree, for one thing Santa Marta is much brighter and yet the rooms modest.
Faith ultimately is based on truth, on certainty that things happened and are real. Did Jesus exist and walk this planet? Did Jesus perform the miracles we read about in the New Testament? Was Jesus put to death on a cross and rose from the dead three days after his death? These things are certain and it’s why the early church started and grew like wildfire from nothing in the heart of the cruel oppressive Roman Empire, which is like China or Russia today but even more so. How did the church happen, coming out of nowhere and then years later the whole Roman Empire becomes officially Christian?
Of course there is always mystery. Miracles are a mystery, life is a great mystery. Mystery is great and part of living. We see through a glass darkly. But we also have certainly, which we read each Sunday in the Apostle’s Creed. Certainly is not a sin. Christianity stands and falls on the certainty of the resurrection! Otherwise it’s complete nonsense and a waste of time.
Is that a Pope John Paul II quote originally?
Fiennes, Lithgow & Tucci !!! Count me in !!! 😀👍🏼
Me too! My thoughts exactly
Right?? That's what I said!
Isabella Rossellini is no slouch either!
Just like all the other comments, let's get Ralph his Oscar.
Catholicism has fantastic aesthetics
100%
...and symbolism, if I may add.
Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow + a great story - how can i NOT watch??
Ralph Fiennes is the greatest actor without an Oscar. Hope he actually wins this time.
Willem Dafoe says otherwise. Fiennes is great though!
This is antisemitic.
I would had Johnny Depp and Glenn Close

Y'all let's root for Ralph Fiennes for that Oscar!!
Movies like this are finally making a comeback, no superhero schtick, just good actors doing what they do best!
edit* I know they always make these, but it seems like audiences are starting to care again and studios are putting more effort into marketing them, that's all.
What do you mean “comeback”? Movies like this release literally every single year. There are more movies like this that release every year than superhero movies.
Those movies come out every year though ….
Oh knock it off. Movies like this have never gone away.
They’ve always been there but they don’t always make a profit so they come and go from theaters or get dumped on streaming and buried by the algorithm
They never went out of style I've always found them
I listened to the audiobook during covid. It was in the middle of summer and most of it i listened to while making long walks through a forest near my city. I was hooked on the setting and the story right from the start and i have very fond memories of hearing this amazing book when there was not much else to do.
Made my day to see they made a big budget movie out of it!
Ralph gunning for that Oscar.

What a superb casting!
That shot of the ash falling from the top feels like a medieval painting 😮 glorious!
It is a gorgeous shot. Reminded me a bit of the explosion/shelling in "Immortal Beloved"
Movie tagline: Conclave, one of the best pictures of the year, and we are not just blowing smoke.
🤣
Don't know anything about this book/movie, but there are some beautifully framed scenes here...at least the aesthetic is on point
The Young People is great throughout, and it has very intelligent dialogues.
You NEED to Watch the Young pope, Even tho the second season was kinda crap but wathever
This movie is a shame. Based on a book that has a 'trans man' elected as pope. Disgusting.

Cinematography, production design and costume design should be nominated for an Oscar
_”You will soon learn that the will of the Conclave is absolute! Make peace with Adun!”_
I was about to say I'm tired of the glamorization of the inner workings of the Vatican, then I saw the cast. I'm in.
Have you seen the The Borgias
Watch The Young Pope and The New Pope series.
If it's faithful to the book, it really won't be glamorous. They don't give the trailer a thriller vibe for no reason.
glamorization? it's depicted that way visually because it is visually glamorous. but as a powerful institution it's always going to have it's dramas.
Ralph Fiennes deserves to be nominated for an oscar. "HE BETTER BE"
My Isabella and so many other stars on top of the subject matter makes this a must see film! I'm IN!
Great line delivery by Stanley Tucci @1:42.
anyone think he has a chance on Supporting Oscar?
@@CB_4 I read the novel and, if the film goes by it, I think that S. Tucci (who plays Aldo Bellini) has indeed such a chance. However, Castellitto, Rossellini, Lithgow, Diehz, and Msamati have a chance too, I think. There are just too many good actors to choose from 🙂
Mr Fiennes...such divine talent.
This movie WILL win an Oscar…mark my words
It was a great book. I read it in one sitting. The plot was gripping.
Now that's how you make a trailer without spoiling the plot.

It's about time that they brought a movie of substance to the big screen. With so many great actors in this movie, I don't think this will disappoint at all. This is a good conversation movie. Cannot wait to see it.❤

The Pope ends up being a woman. Unless you're into that kind of thing, you won't like it.
Everybody talking about Ralph Fienbes, but can we acknowledge Isabella Rossellini. That woman is an Italian godsend. Really glad she's gaining recognition again.
Great cast, intriguing plot, trailer doesn’t show much, not a sequel…I’m in!
Ralph Fiennes looks awesome in this. I don't know much about the storyline (and as a Catholic, am suspicious of how Hollywood might portray the Church), but the production design looks great.
I mean just look how Hollywood watered down "The Golden Compass" and their portrayal of the Magisterium
In the book, the pope discovers he’s really a woman

@@VersoLaltoProductions i know, its always something right?
Despite it is a suspense thriller, the film itself is visually stunning.
The play on words with "Faith", "certainty" and "mystery" is typical of the skeptic mentality that characterises modern secularism. Faith isn't based on doubt, but precisely on a supernatural certainty about the mysteries revealed by God concerning our Salvation.
Exactly. Doubt as a psychological phenomenon is well worth exploring, but such a ponderous line as that to which you refer simply indicates that the issue has not been understood. Yes, there is a drama in walking by faith and not by sight, and yes there is always the existential possibility of doubt, but where is the emphasis on the substance of things hoped for? It's a rather banal subject, in my mind. Overdone.
@@hilairebelloc3368 Hear! Hear!
We have the epistomological foundation for moral truths. If Christ never rose from the dead, there is no truth. But he did rise from the dead. Therefore, there is only one truth. Charity is the map to God.
As a Catholic, I'm looking forward to seeing this movie.
It's not "a play" with words. It's not about being modern secularism, but being logical in something that - for a lot of people, including you, I believe - doesn't need logic.
It last to do with you and your definition of Faith, but more about faith in general, whetever the object you are putting your faith in
@@Matheussilveira254 And here comes the modern secularism. No, faith is certainly concerned with logic, but the "struggle to believe" is really not as central as modernity would have it, and it's really not the most interesting thing about religion.
they surely couldn't find a better actors, the actors are CHEF KISS!!
Wow.
A movie I would like to see.
Didn't think those were made anymore.
The GOAT himself Mr. Fiennes is back 😢
If Ralph Fiennes is in something, then it must be good. That man hasn't done a bad movie in his whole career.
The cinematography looks amazing!
Edit: so is the production design.
Ralph Fiennes is gonna give us a superb performance. I just know it.
Always 👍🏼
He is going to say avadakedavra
Lithgow, Fiennes, AND Tucci together in an upcoming thriller? I'm here for it
1:40 That shot is gonna be included in greatest shots in cinema .
What a cast. Ralph is one of the finest actors of a generation. Who else could be so powerful and diverse as Voldemort and "M". Add a pinch of Tucci and John Lithgow, wow. Importantly Isabella Rossellini is just brilliance personified! Looks like a must see and I agree Jude Law as "Lenny the Pope" (sounds like a goodfellas character) would round this out nicely.
Oh nice! Another Hollywood production painting the Church of Christ as "the most obscure institution of human history"...so brave for them to do that, would love to see them making the same with Judaism one day
Anyone else notice that you never see a Spotlight (2015) or Doubt (2008) about any other religions? 😳🤔
Uh, I’s say it was glaring actually. This the age of AI. Where ALPHABET is building its own version of “all knowing and all seeing”. You can’t make this stuff up. It’s comedy gold..if there is no god, what is there to even mimic. 🥰
Succession: Cardinal Style. Hope Lithgow gets a ton of screen time here. Couple supporting noms could show here
The novel is pretty darn good, weirdly it's not mentioned and this cast looks great.
It says based on the international bestseller at 1:07.
0:30 A mistake in the vfx. You can see the red cap being half disappearing and then appearing from above.
That was God. Pissed. 😂
Anybody else noticed the RED and WHITE dominating every frame?
from Voldemort to becoming a Cardinal...
Go Ralph Fiennes!!!
Finally! A real movie! And I love this kind of movie as well! Great casting, I can't wait!
that line about certainty… 🔥
It's hogwash. The Catholic Church does not fear certainty. The reason the Church exists is because of certainty.
Damn. The cast in this movie is stacked!!! Ralph Fiennes is such an incredible actor. John Lithgow is a good actor, Isabella Rosselinnii... Absolute legend!!! I find the story captivating. I really do. My eyes never left the screen while I watched the trailer...My big butt will be in a seat in the theatres come November!!!
Goodness me, what a cast.
And it looks beautifully shot. Perhaps a gander at the source material is in good order.😅📚
Just this trailer on its own has better character development and drama than ANY Marvel movie in its entirety
That slow mo last was very cool. Quite intriguing.
Trailer a zillion times better than I expected.
So good to see Lucian Msamati getting big-screen roles, he’s a legend of British Theatre!
I LOVED Robert Harris's book, so when this came up in my recommended, I was immediately hooked!

I HOPE THE SUPERB ACTOR MR. RALPH FIENNES FINALLY GETS HIS OSCAR NEXT ACADEMY AWARDS. HE SHOULD'VE WON FOR "SCHINDLERS LIST".
that sound mixing is very good
I still think that "In the shoes of the fisherman", with Anthony Queen and Vittorio de Sica, is the best film on the subject. That said, I'll go see "Conclave" as well, though I suspect that the atmospheres and depth will be rather different.
Holy shit the Cinematography, I hope this movie gets some Oscar recognition!
Coming out in November. They are aiming for an Oscar.
this is a trailer. So many trailers recently for movies and shows just give it all away, this one truly does not, it makes us interested while giving us just enough to have an idea of what it is and how good it might be
You had me at Isabella Rosellini❤
If they ever make another live-action Da Vinci Code, Ralph Fiennes would be the perfect Silas in my eyes.
I am so ready for this. Such a unique take on the political thriller!
This movie/"thriller" must be seen!!! Can't wait for November 2024
The cast!
"It is the dangerous men in the room who want the Papacy". This is why I love my Catholic Faith!! The Holy Eucharist and Blessed Sacraments of the Church transforms sinners into Saints. How else would the Church of Christ, built on the foundation of Peter, the rock and Vicar of Christ have survived thus far!? The church, down the ages has transformed many dangerous men into Saints, like Saul to Paul. This thriller is exciting for clearly a movie classic and will certainly take me to a movie theatre in November; something I have not done in years!!!
Now this is how you make a trailer. Can't wait to see it.
Best actor ever ever ever. Love you so much Ralph💞 hugs and loves from turkey💫🪷
Loved the novel. Am excited for the movie.
This looks sooooo goood ..I’m Muslim but I love watching these kinds of movies ❤
Hmmmmm. Ralph Fiennes' character needs to look at his Bible again:
"To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be *certain* of the things we cannot see." - Hebrews 11:1
You are right but, on the other hand, we shouldn't expect Hollywood & co. to be that theologically precise...
Anyway, I attempt to take the best side from Fiennes' quote. Some articles of Christian doctrine are indeed mysteries, which one has to believe by Faith.
Holy shit, that's a heavy-hitting team of actors.
Something to look forward to.
I can see the Oscars from here!
Never saw this coming. Who knew picking a new pope could be so cool
Looks good. I hope it was made by people who respect the Catholic faith.
Fiennes was raised Catholic. His mother was devout Catholic, and his mother's brothers were Eastern Orthodox priests. Fiennes is the executive producer on this project. I think he has great respect for all religions, even if he doesn't practice any. He likes to tour old churches.
There is not a single piece of modern media that defends or respects the Christian faith. Especially not catholics.
I have had the book for years. Now I’ll have to finally read it.
This is a gripping movie! Just saw it at the Telluride Film Festival.
Looks brilliant!
They should mention the book's author is Robert Harris, a very good book indeed.
Loved the book. Excited about the cast.
I'm getting Da Vinci Code vibes here.
I was about to comment the same thing. The first 30 seconds almost has same scenario with the first scenes from The Da Vinci Code.
I hope not. It was garbage! This looks more realistic and makes comments about faith.
This will be a far better film, based on a book by a genuinely good author. So all different to the Da Vinci Code 😊
Wow, the Catholic Church has really become quite inclusive, allowing a Martian and a wizard to be high ranking members!
Edward Berger? I’m in.
Loved the book, fingers crossed the film does it justice- a hell of a cast!
The book was pretty good, but the ending a bit silly
