I actually know why this happens. Normal link uses the same frame as in OoT and Zora Link uses Adult Link's Frame. But Deku and Goron Link have different frames for their models and animations, Normal and Zora Link carry over OoT's grabbed animations, but they didn't make grabbed animations for Deku or Goron link, nor did they make any new grab animations for the Gibdos. So they just bounce off. Also Wood and Stone probably don't taste very good, so it fits anyway
My headcanon is they also won't attack Deku Link and Goron Link because of how depressing the story of the dead Deku Scrub and Goron that the masks were based off were.
I knew about Goron Link's immunity but not the Gibdo's little head shake. Even when I think I know something about this game, your videos still educate me. This channel is wonderful.
I always walked around these areas as Goron when I as a child due to being scared of the scream and cutscene of when you get jumped by them. Goron Link was my hiding-under-the-blanket-to-avoid-monsters when playing as a child.
Hahaha, I remember messing with the Gibdos outside the house like this as a kid and discovering this! It's so funny how many anti-Redead/Gibdo measures they went through after people were scared shitless of them in OoT. Guess it was an attempt to tone down how scary they were or compensate for the Sun's Song being removed.
I thought the real measure was that one has no actual reason to ever engage them. (Also, it's kinda weird how Windwaker completely removed most safeguards against them and then also buffed them as enemies)
@@lpfan4491 Come to think of it, yeah, on a normal playthrough, you never need to engage the Gibdos. I know this is sarcastic but taking into account that this is the better (IMO) sequel to one of the most acclaims games of all times which came soon after the prequel, it wouldn't be far-fetched to think this game is actually one of the most polished and detailed when it was made and the conditions it was made, even the glitches were so fun that some were intentionally left in in the 3D remakes.
