I'm starting to notice throughout watching Ian is how "certain" people are literally living lavish while other "certain" people are living poor, minimum wage/slave wage for back breaking work for up to 10 hours a day. People can barely keep up with rent bills and children, trying to get help from the government but "certain" people are living in the lap of luxury??? This is NOT just coincidence.. Something fishy is going on and "certain" people know it.

For the rest of their lives they will have this image in front of their every time you storm - it's terrible for these children, I feel sorry for them.

      @@chrisjenkins203 That
person's comment is no less sensitive, and perhaps more sensitive, than all the rest, because the heart is hurting for past ... and future storms, that will do the same thing again and again. It is realistic. If people would learn from nature, we may perhaps have much less damage to natural resources, not so quickly renewable. How many storms and devastating loss must we watch over and over? before we stop building so near it? Granted, tornados can happen anywhere, but those losses right along the shores are unnecessary. They will rebuild and do it all again in four to five years.

The voters of Florida have elected climate change deniers for a good four decades now. You reap what you show. Elections have consequences, indeed! What's more, the blindness of Florida's voters have had, and will continue to have a seriously negative impact on the climate of our entire planet.

Right now though I'm just heartbroken seeing all these homes & lives within them a mess or destroyed. Especially knowing how many older people are living in the hit zones. Many don't have the financial means or health energy to start over.

Basic search and rescue will be 5 days to 2 weeks.
Getting core power lines back up and operational 2 to 5 weeks.
Bridges roads etc are temp within days to weeks, 6 months to 2 years for proper repairs or replacements.
      Homes?
      Neighborhoods?
      Businesses?
At best the debris removal will be a months long proposition.
Rebuilding, even with quick cheap housing if done, is well over 18 months if every resource and full funds are instantly available via insurance and govt and crews...
Repairs on those that can will start right away once flooding and access is dealt with. Some will get done within 6 months to a year, probably longer for those that have more than the roof and minimal lower flood damage.
But odds are more likely that only the first NEW homes on repaired streets and infrastructure zones will be done 2 years out and stretching for many years longer.
