Dio commanded the stage! There are singers like Halford, Dickenson, Hagar to name a few and they are all damn good front men! But there is this certain grace, fluidity and power that radiates from him when he performs. His voice is enormous with rich deep silky smooth tones. There will never be another who can come close to Ronnie!
becca latina Plus a brilliant song writer, Becca. Saw him as Dio at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall. Never saw Black Sabbath. Big regret.
becca latina Ronnie truly was an all-time original, there shall never be another like him. It's the sign of the southern cross...
becca latina agreed
becca latina Amazing words for an amazing singer thank you. Your insight is spot on I have the pleasure of sharing a birthday with this man and whilst I am a singer I am not in the same universe as this amazing artist.
becca latina 1. Bruce Dickinson 2. Dio
But it's my taste. I can agree with someone who prefer Ronnie. He's one of the greatest.
THE best Heavy Metal singer in the world ...RIP Ronnie!
JOHN TIBERIA YOU STOLE MY COMMENT.....LOL
AWESOME !!!
Rigth ...
NO John, best are Phil Anselmo and Rob "Metal God" Halford. But I must admit Dio's third lol!

The best two hours I've ever spent on CZcams, hands down.
He was 64 at the time! That is absolutely amazing! He has such talent! You live on in our hearts Dio!
absolutely amazing that Ronnie was over 65 years old at this show. he could easily pass for a man in his early 50's. And that blessed voice is still as potent and on-key than it ever was. RIP buddy. There will never be another RJD
I'm so glad they did this before Dio passed.
Ronnie had the flu when they played this gig. True story. He was backstage, breathing in steam, drinking warm tea - really sick. And then came out and did this! Amazing!
Would have had no idea, he sounds great! Plus having cancer, it’s incredible how good he sounds
Oh wow. I was just watching this, marveling at how energetic he is during Neon Knights after a two hour set. With the flu, as well? Damn, what a badass.
A true professional. 🤘
Thats fuckin life ... and he stoods proud and gave his best. Discipline. My highest respect
I could totally believe it. I watched an interview with him and he said he never missed a gig due to being sick because he knew what he was doing.
8:44 Listen to that Scream. Damn he was amazing.
He was unique there will never be another
exactly, one in a million quality. hoooolleeee shit! lol!
JEEEEEEEEZZZ THAT WAS DEMONIC BUT WONDERFUL
It doen't come from him but from Hell!!!
Satan cried when he eard this!
Tim Brown . no. it was not amazing
The best voice of metal ever, Dio, you are missed.😢
Ronnie james Dio ...such a strong voice from a lil man...sang with such heart. i grew up with his voice but now listening to the music today, I appreciate it so much more.
Exactly Megan ! the same thing with me..........
south Italian blood.....many tenors come from the sout italy and they are tiny and shorth but full power....Its DNA
Glenn Danzig, Ronnie James Dio, Prince... little men with HUGE talent. Two of them missing but NEVER forgotten.
Saint Dio \m/\m/
What a loss to the music world. Unreal rock singer & great human being
MY DAD used to listen "the sign of the southern cross" with attention, the lyrics simply astounded him, his musical taste was worlds apart from mine, he liked "los panchos"," los tres diamantes", javier solís, agustín lara and the like, famous around latin américa playing music that talked about people and feelings, real feelings, that was why he liked them so much, he used to say that honest people create honest music... the day i got home with my LP of "mob rules" he was curious about the artwork on the cover, and one day he played it and enjoyed it as hell, but when that particular song started , he "felt" the lyrics not only talked to him, THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT HIM,when i got back home he told me "you know?, this guys really know about life, about feelings, and that song touched me deeply, i mean, all my life I HAD MADE LIFE A TREASURE,WITH SO MANY things out there that can confuse you, like beer, party and sex, it is hard for someone with responsibilities to set the path ahead straight, it is great to feel when somebody shares this dilemas and is able to sing about them, letting everyone know how hard it is, BUT THAT CAN BE DONE... this band really stands out with that... they are real people talking about real life. i love their music and the way the singer "feels" every note and every word he sings he shares his very soul... a shame i did not know about them before...."... my dad was 80 at that time, and he became a great fan of BLACK SABBATH AND DIO because of that song...listening this magical live version is something priceless... thanks for that memories, tanks for sharing this treasure, man...ALL HAIL DIO AND THE MIGHTY SABBATH !!!!
Fantastic story! Thanks for sharing. Sign of the Southern Cross is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just clicked on this video. The title doesn't mention this is Black Sabbath nor full concert. I found the playlist and sign of the Southern Cross was there. I immediately clicked on it and started reading the comments and came across yours.
Sign of the Southern Cross is playing right now as we speak. Great live production. I had the LP of Mob Rules myself, Still do. Fantastic album. Black Sabbath and Dio's best IMHO. They were rich with creativity with this one.
R u from Colombia ?
A simple word to define these musicians: Masters!!!
gods.
heaven
In my Country the word MASTER- the same word - BEST!!!!
Long live Dio....always alive in our hearts...
Absolutely the best lineup ever in the history of all metal!! Ronnie ruled the stage. No better front man ever!! What a privilege to just watch this over and over!! Gives me chills to watch aaah memories... Absolute perfection!!
The best metal singer ever....his voice gets stronger as the show progresses...He was 64 when this was recorded...then I thought to myself if my dad could do this when he was 64? I just started laughing to myself...He was telling me to turn this crap down! God Bless Dio!!! I miss him....

Romeo Vegas I'm 63. If it's too loud you're too old!
Romeo Vegas im 60 and my heavy metal band kicks just as hard(Randy, Guitar, Vocals) Ash Wednesday
there will never be another DIO he is the only one.
Humble, formal and decent on the stage.
A metal musician once was quoted as saying, " Black Sabbath wrote all the greatest riffs... ever". Not only do I agree, but it was refreshing to see and hear RJD with Sabbath and perform THEIR music.. and no other era. WOW!! Great show.
Dio!!one of the best vocalist of all time!!!I missed him!!!RIP!! Ronnie!long live rock!!!.
hiding in our corner of the world! You are sorely missed Ronnie! A true heavy metal legend!
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's heaven and hell, oh well
Analyzing Ronnie's voice in every song needs so much time and so many papers to be written. Perfection is the only word i can say.
True professionals. Dio is amazing, what a showman. The contrast to Ozzy could not be more different. Ozzy comes across as a bumbling fool. Sometimes missing lyrics or not sounding great. Dio is the appreciative frontman who always sang to perfection. Don't get me wrong I like Sabbath and Ozzy. But to me Dio is the man. R.I.P.
I agree 100% Dio is all business. And well educated.
that´s true
I cannot agree more how Ozzy is still alive and Dio had to leave us I cannot fathom
Absolutely agree Dio was the penacal of all front men! Miss him so much! I grew up from childhood listening to Dio religiously. One of a kind never to be matched ever! R.I.P. Ronnie
@Leonardo Bautista Because Dio took a drunken blues-based band and turned it into a Metal machine.
Treasure these moments. Dio is gone. The days of the Greats have almost come to a end and all we'll have left is memories.

I was thirteen. My neighbor was 18 and he "borrowed" His dad's second car and we drove from Ft.Lauderdale to Atlanta with eight rolled hashish-laced joints.
John Shields Jr. No kidding man... I just saw jay-z was elected into the song writing hall of fame for his garbage... We don't get to see shows like this anymore.. Pretty sad
At 8:48 I have NEVER heard Dio hit such a note as in the scream of Mob Rules...WOW! His voice will never be replaced. Did was and is the apex of Singers.
God damn the power with Appice! look at his expressions- he says he feels like 'killing somebody' entering stage. Brings that charge in his playing, love it, my hero!

My Grandmother was good friends with Dio in highschool. She knew him by a different name and my father was pissed when he found out that she knew him because he LOVES Black Sabbath
*hello* that Different name is Ronald James Padavona "Pigmy"
I assume your father found out after Dio died? That must have been an interesting story....
His original name is Ronnie Padovona(sp?)
I cry every time I see this video. It's inevitable...
Dio, you took a piece of us when you left, but left us with many wonderfull/powerfull memories.
We will love you for all eternity!!!
You die very very young...
LEGENDS. Fronted by the best metal singer ever.
I bow.
Absolutely!!! I never use the term "Legend" loosely, but Dio is God to me. There is no other. 5 years, hard to believe. RIP Ronnie. YNWA!
Same here. It´s a term that should be used with caution, so that it has the impact it should on those who´ve earned it.
Dio is god to me too. R.I.P
mistman1977 Not much of a god if he is dead. Legend yes. God no.

To whom ever posted this concert video. Thank you. It was great.
I saw Black Sabbath Heaven And Hell Tour in 1980, Sammy Hagar opened up, I had front row floor, Those were great times my friends.
Iommi's guitar-riffs sound incredibly heavy! I really like it... The rest of the band and Ronnie J. Dio are also at their best... Great professionals, huge band!
Dio оставил большой след в истории рок музыки он велик и огромен
Tony's Tone is to die for.

I was fortunate enough to see this tour up in Reno, Nevada, USA. One of the best concerts that I have ever seen. Too bad that Ronnie James Dio died a few years later. This was by far the best Black Sabbath line up they had. Thank you for posting this full concert. \m/ \m/
How I wish I was there with you my masters, a huge concert from dio black sabbath. The fathers of heavy metal. Thankyou guys. Black sabbath for ever. Vincent la valletta malta.
Бесподобная работа всех музыкантов. Бесподобный вокал Ronnie. Мне даже казалось, что в этом концерте он звучал еще мощнее, чем на старых записях.
we miss you ronnie.!!! you were the best!!!! one of my good friends worked for a metal fanzine in chicago and i had the gift of going with when he interviewed these guys ronnie james dio is the real deal he was one of the nicest people i have ever met in my life he made you feel as if you were the most important person he gave total attention and hospitality he was a genuine guy that loved life h RONNIE LOVED HIS FANS AND HE LOVED MUSIC ronnie thank you for your friendship and your commitment to making the world a better place the karma you put into life im sure is coming back to you ten fold you were a true champion love you brother rip peace

Excelente show! Grande Dio! Q.E.P.D. Por siempre en nuestra memoria!
i still miss ronnie he was great!!!
Great show, the last time I saw them was on the Dehumanizer Tour which rocked hard. I also had the privilege to meet Vinny Appice personally during a drum clinic several years before and he had given me some good advice on my drum playing style.
Вечная память!Он всегда в наших сердцах!
I can't wait to see you again Ronnie in 2017

Still can't believe he's gone...
He was killed by chemotherapy, one of so many victims of damn medical profession.

The best performance of Heaven and Hell !! Just wow!
Greatest pipes in rock history.
Bloody Great Black Sabbath 4Ever !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
Absolutely the best live recording of H&H i came across. I love all of it. The sound, the individual craftmenship, the tightness of the band, pure chemistry ! Great performance. Play it loud or on headphones and get bewitched ! ...and yes.. RJD lives on forever. Hero !
Best live show on you tube period!! Long live Ronnie James Dio!!!
Vinny Appice is really the unsung hero in this lineup. So much power and energy, and his drum tone is very disticnt. He pushes Geezer and Tony to their best and Dio too. He's killing it at 26:40 during "I" when he pulls that rack of large toms. He's a combination of John Bonham and Ian Paice but with big arms for pounding the shit out of the kit. I saw Sabbath on the '80 Heaven and Hell tour and Bill Ward was nice and raw, still had it but he was not taking care of himself. Thank God he quit. He wouldn't have made it. Seriously. They got lucky and landed Vinny Appice. Perfect fit. Then I saw the Mob Rules tour and that was a huge show, very loud with a ton of lights and a big stage. That tour and this tour here were this lineups best, IMO.
you re totally right. incredible drumming and a bonham like style. Dont now if underrated or not, but it sounds great to me hehehe
always loved Vinnie's style, a very good fit for SABBATH.
I reckon he is one of the most solid dependable drummers in the world. Any drummers who are learning out there, should play this concert through headphones and play along. Try locking in with him. Awesome time keeping.
Vinny is just awesome..... such power and his timing is spot on! I have seen him probably 10 times and everytime he gives 100%. He is like a machine, but so much better. ha- he is a great drummer to air drum along with in the car.
God no. He's an extremely boring drummer.
Дио... Голос Души о душе....Бессмертный голос. ВЕЛИКИЙ. НАВСЕГДА. Покойся с миром, Ронни, ты- в наших душах и сердцах.
That banshee scream at the beginning of Mob Rules makes the hairs stand on end....
Dio is on fire!-----so is the band!
2 years later....still loving it
Вечная память такому хорошему мужику, и лучшему из всех вокалисту. Спасибо, мы будем помнить тебя, пока не умрем, а после этого вместе споем на том свете.
RJ DIO , the Voice has left us but never silenced . Thank You for the Music , Peace on and On ......
I find it amazing how they went from one sound with ozzie, and a different sound with Dio....but the best thing they did was change their name to heaven and hell........this led the potential for a true Sabbath reunion ...But Dio did his magic with Sabbath...RIP Ronnie...i guess your running things down there in the after life ...At least until Ozzie shows up and takes over
Not sure what you mean. Any major change in a band has different outcomes, especially if it's a lead singer. Ozzy did what he could and became so uncontrollable that - well he's out! The sound changes from getter a better singer - that being Dio - but Tony was still on top of it. So, yes...it's different but the same only better! Ozzy had some great moments but he was never even close to RJD as a songwriter/singer/performer.
Dio isn't "down there" as you suggest....I think he's exactly where he belongs. Forget all the traditional mysticism about heaven and hell....I have faith that Ronnie is rocking it with some good company. I met Ronnie in San Diego several years ago, when Wendy was managing things. He was very sincere and we had a pleasurable conversation. He was a very kind, gentle-man. Whatever thoughts or superstitions you have of him being the helmsman for Satan and hell, I have no clue. I can only give you my personal impression of the man.
We don't know....if there truly is "Heaven and Hell", Dio was too far of a good man to be in Hell and tortured. If he missed the cut and didn't make it into Heaven...well then I don't want to be there either because he was a far greater man than me.
Tempest
Except for a few songs, there was very little magic in Sabbath with anybody other than Ozzy. Each of the other singers had maybe 1-3 interesting songs, but for the most part, people waited for the band to play songs from the ozzy years. ...a fact illustrated by the fact that those songs are pretty much the only songs they still play. How many times do we hear neon knights, digital bitch, Zero the Hero, or any other non-Ozzy song, even as good as they are? Dio did much better on his own after the sabbath years. His first 3 albums did okay, I have them and I remember the hits getting regular rotation on radio and tv.
***** I'm a bit younger but not much. So now, I never saw the early shows of Ozzy with Black Sabbath. I've seen genuine live performances (not some pre-recorded then lip-synched crap) and that usually gives a fair estimation of how the shows were.
I have to compare Ozzy and Dio. I'm a musician with a cynical and critical mind! Oh yes, Ozzy was "the Voice" of Black Sabbath and I loved most of their work. But he got completely out of control and was going to take Sabbath down with him!
RJD simply brought new blood into the band. And yes, his voice was bah-zillions times better than Ozzy's. Ozzy cannot sing. He's possible the worst famous "singer" in rock history that made it really big. He's not unlike Peter Criss on drums really.
Yep, The Mob Rules took a big dive - it just wasn't very good. But Heaven in Hell did just fine and was a Gold album in less than a year of it's release. Sabotage took 22 years to go Gold! Tech. Ecstasy and Never Say Die were huge flops as well. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was really the last "hit record" in the US! So what, a good five years of horrible record sales with Ozzy at the helm?
Sure, Ozzy was the "foundation" but he was also the the "dry rot" that had to go and the whole damned house had to be rebuilt.
Get your head out of your ass for making claims that aren't true and make an attempt to comprehend that Ozzy vs. Dio is not only a fair comparison but that single transition is what really kept Sabbath together all of these years now.
If you had said "Paul Rodgers should have never tried on Freddie's shoes with Queen", I would agree completely. But it isn't that. Instead you have this stubborn idea that Sabbath isn't good enough without Ozzy. By sales alone - I have proven you wrong.
Enough bullshit - just think about it before you let your heart get ahead of your head and start spewing off so called "facts".
Cheers!
TF
***** Well, I'm going on 46 and already proved that I know more about the topic than you do. If you are man enough to learn something new, maybe you'd just STFU and retain whatever pride and humility you might have left.

The best Period!!! DIO is metal , the legend, dollar for dollar and pound for pound the best front man, story teller to ever grace the stage. when he passed an era died, the story ended, the candle burnt, the music lost the magic......
8:46 gave me chills like never before! Best metal vocalist ever without a doubt, RIP Dio
ALL HAIL!!! LOVE DIO AND LOVE SABBATH - PUT THE TWO TOGETHER - MAGICAL \m/
Unreal. The one & only RJD showing us how its done! I saw this show in Philly. Was RIGHT up front. Just amazing!!!!

Человек с большим сердцем и огромным талантом!!! Навсегда в нашей памяти!!! Vinny, Tony, Geezer & Ronnie James Dio ..... BEST EVER!!!
Enjoyed so much how he responds to the audience, a class act, RIP my friend!
man, this is timeless music that really holds up; There's a certain Wall of Sound here (with the combo of Iommi and Butler) that is powerful, and with the late great Dio wailing over the top of it - this is heavy metal heaven -- thank you!
I have so much respect for Tony Iommi for overcoming losing some of his right hand fingertips when he was younger and continuing on to become a rock guitar godfather. I feel so privileged to have seen this line up. Such proper legends. The riff for Mob Rules gives me the goosebumps every time! *\dio/* *\dio/*
And he also kicked cancers ass!! He did it for dio!
Ronnie was a true pro, what a powerful voice, and tony iommi is a great guitarist, and Ronnie always gave credit to all, he was not selfish, that was a great concert !!!
This is one the BEST videos posted on CZcams EVER!!!!
Dio sang with all his Heart and he paid his dues like he says he did and no one can take that from him
Великий Ронни будет жить вечно в наших сердцах! Он внес огромный вклад в рок музыку
RONNIE JAMES DIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love and miss him dearly. R.I.P Ronnie James Dio one of the greatest EVER!
Pure Class. All 4 of these guys.
I still can't believe how much Tony Iommi evolved as a guitarist from the early Black Sabbath days to the early 80s -- night and day. Not saying that early Sabbath solos were bad, but this is in a completely different league. So many other musicians stay the same and don't evolve.
Dio never lost his signature voice. From rainbow until his last days with Heaven and Hell he was brilliant. He will always be my favorite singer.
He was DIO what can be said really.
Ronny was and will remain forever the best vocalist in this genre. A shaky professional, a charming man, inseparable from his fans.
Thank you for the concert in Vladivostok, 2005, forever in my memory.
With Dio, Sabbath was like a completely new Heavy Metal band... That's still Sabbath but a new one, a different one... Not better, just different so i can't understand why some say it's better or, it's worse... We just cannot compare (that's just a question of taste at that point)... Both were great in overall!!! And Tony Iommi is simply THE true metal-god!!! He is the main link of all Sabbath periods!
Better with Dio. Ozzy is clown
I agree. Dio and Ozzy were completely two different styles, it's like comparing apples and oranges (such a cheesy idiom, btw). Tony said it himself that Ronnie would sing across the riffs whereas Ozzy would follow the riffs, and in doing so they were both unique in their own way, each in accordance with the content of their era. With Ronnie's lyrics, his singing boost the epicness whereas Ozzy's simplicity in melodies worked well with the darker theme of the early Sabbath.
I'd argue Tony Martin era was their finest overall work.
Iommi is the god of metal!!!
Same with the Gillan Sabbath album. Like a new band.
Espetacular!!!!
Dio....sempre viverás....
