    Thanks for the review! It really helped me make up my mind. Although you preferred the airoh, taking from your review the arai pros match the things I’m looking for on a dual sports helmet. Apart for the excessive price , the arais have always lived up to my expectations!

      Someone told me 30 years ago that you either have a shoei shaped head or an arai shaped head, I don't even know if that's true but I had a shoei at the time and it fit perfectly so I have never even tried an arai. Might be missing something.

    Like Frank I was wondering about wind noise, that’s one thing you can get from a real review as apposed to looking on a website. I have a caberg tourmax, which for £200 is amazing value, but I’m struggling to hear my sena at motorway speeds, I obviously don’t wear air plugs because I have the sena fitted. The Schubert’s e1 is meant to be really quiet but like the caberg it’s a bit ugly. Thanks for the review 👍

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Mike. Thanks for your comments and for watching the review. Apologies I can.t comment in the noise. I should do test on that with other helmets whilst using a comms system. You can get ear pieces custom made for wind noise protection as fitted with speakers, but a bit pricy right now. I did o out yesterday for a ride with my Arai on and I can say that even with ear plugs in it is much nosier than the Airoh. Stay safe. Billy

    Great review mate . I too own arai xd4 and agree totally you do feel the weight on a full day ride and wind catches the visor heavier on that helmet . Been lookin at tryin on of these airoh commanders out . The weight and peek design looks better for static air flow . Im fully aware that the build quality wont match my arai but comfort on multi day rides is my aim so will look into one of these commanders .

      @BillysBikeAdventures  Před 2 lety

      Hi Wade. Thanks for watching and your comment! I really like the lightness of the commander. I recently did a day out with the Arai TX4 and I definitely felt the difference at the end of the day, sore neck. Challenge now is to find a helmet that has great build quality as Arai TX4 but the lightness of the Airoh C. You will notice a big difference! Cheers Billy

    Nice review BUT you need to look at how they are built to justify the price difference. Arai is 100% built by hand except for the cutout for the visor which is done by laser. Next you forgot to look at the EPS inside. Arai uses different hardnesses in different areas.
    It’s hard to recommend a helmet to others as it all comes down to the fit and feel.

    I ride naked dual sport/adventure bikes. The Arai peak doesn't catch any wind on those bike. Anytime you have a fairing on a bike, all bets are off in terms of turbulence affecting the helmet,

    • @BillysBikeAdventures
      @BillysBikeAdventures  Před 2 lety

      Hi Scott. thanks for watching and your comment. I think its more to do with the windshield and the turbulence it creates and the top or the clean air peak. That said when I had my KTM 1290 SAR which as a very small screen I did find that the peak on my Arai was more of a challenge than my Airoh. Great to hear that this does not affect you. Cheers. @@BillysBikeAdventures Ah no prob! Thanks for your reply anyway! I think about getting custom ear inserts as well, definitely the best solution. I just bought the Airoh Commander as well. I like the sun visor a lot, it was actually the reason I did not go for the Arai Tour X4. I think ventilation may become a problem in hot weather though. It’s hard to find a better ADV helmet than these two. Ride safe!

Honesty, Airooh is the best for the model and price, but I don't know how the feel and others when fit on my head. Your review is nice when you have both Airooh and Arai. Saya belum memiliki Cardo Pack Talk di Airoh saya. Namun, ada lubang untuk pengeras suara telinga, tetapi mungkin terlalu dangkal. Saya tidak yakin. Kasus terburuk adalah Anda mungkin harus memotong 1-2mm dari bagian telinga untuk memastikan kenyamanan. Tapi sudah ada jalan pintas untuk speaker telinga. Semoga membantu. Minus for Arai about the peak that catch the wind ? Minus for Airoh about the mist on visor ?

    I cant see them making any concession in safety to accommodate a drop down sun visor , generally from helmets i have owned an seen it is just that the outer shell is slightly bigger to give space to house the sun visor .

      @BillysBikeAdventures  Před 2 lety

    • @scottenlow5249
      @scottenlow5249 Před 2 lety

      With the gap between the shield and shell filled with EPS, the shell is stronger and less likly to deform in a crash. Meaning it has a greater chance to glance off the impact surface and keep the energy moving forward. Gaps betwen the EPS and shell mean the shell will be more flexible. That means the helmet flattens out more on impact and creates more surface area. More surface area means more friction between the helmet and the impact surface. That makes the helmet more likely to stop. Anytime the helmet stops, energy comes in. This will also contribute to a greater likelihood that there will be an increase in rotational forces as the momentum continues to move forward.

      Hi Vitor. That's a good question! Clearly the Arai is the better built helmet but much heavier. The Airoh is splendidly light but not built as well. Depends on your view point. If your helmet is really loud, it might be too big. You could try a thicker crown liner and cheek pads to tighten it up. That will make it quiter. The cams on the shield have to be adjusted so the Pinlock seal is flat against the shield. Only adjust the cams with the Pinlock insert removed or you might break the cams.
