My big brother passed away in 2020, he was 53 yrs old (my age now.) He was a train engineer. Everytime I hear a train whistle I always think of him. I say hello, tell him I miss him, tell him I love him. I don't want the train to shut up!! I miss you, Scoot! I love you, big brother!

The train of thoughts gowiing through my head is enough to blow my mind but finally I find peace. This is a wonderful song!
The train is also a symbol for all those little things that remind you of a past relationship. The pub on the corner you visited together, the songs you sang together on a road trip, the shirt you wore the day you met...
It could also be all the little comments friends and family make that remind you of the person. When the emotions are raw and new it doesn't take much to reopen the wounds.

I like this band. I worked in the country music business for a couple of decades as an audio monitor engineer. I really like COUNTRY music. This band has some real country roots in the music influence. I suppose what they are trying to do is move it over enough to get hte new young country croud that doesn't know what real country music is but still keep it real. I LIKE that.

Amazing song! This song has always been my favorite on the album, even before this. It's a shame LBT does'nt get more recognition. They deserve it. By far one of the best groups in country. Keep up the good work LBT!

This is how i felt when we had our sunriver house. We where right next to the train tracks and it was anoying in the middle of the night i would here the train, and i hated it! I am so glad we sold that sunriver houuse. =)

Absolutely incredible. Every song Little Big Town does amazes me. The vocal mix is so awesome. How about the 4 vocal Whistle Blasts and Karen's perfect, "wheels on the rails" vocalizing at the end of this song... Wonderful idea and perfectly executed.

This song has a couple of different meanings. Taken literally, it means simply the noise of a train coming by closely on the tracks. I used to live next to a train track and it literally shook my house! But I believe the real meaning of the song is trying to sleep with disturbing thoughts in our minds.....Shut Up Train...the train of thought in my head! More of a comparison than anything else.
