Hello everyone this is Pratool Dubey & welcome back to ROTAQ which means Reviews of technology & Query. Today we are going to discuss about Honda Dio pros & cons.
9 April 2018: The latest Dio was launched by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India with a BSIV-compliant engine and new body graphics to make it look sportier. The scooter features a dual-tone colour scheme with a slightly tweaked front apron and a V-shaped LED light assembly. The Dio now comes with Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) which keeps the headlight turned on during the daytime as well for better visibility and a mobile charging port as well. There is no change in terms of mechanicals and the latest Dio continues to draw power from a 109.19cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine which is now BSIV-compliant. This engine generates a maximum power of 7.92PS @ 7000rpm and a peak torque of 8.91Nm @ 5500rpm, mated to a CVT gearbox. The latest Dio is equipped with Honda Eco Technology (HET) tyres to improve the overall fuel-efficiency of the scooter. The Japanese automaker claims that the scooter can clock a top speed of 85kmph and returns a mileage of 55kmpl. The fuel tank capacity of the scooter is 5.3 litres. Suspension setup comprises of bottom link type unit up front along with spring loaded hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. It is fitted with 10-inch alloy wheels at both the ends, shod with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drum brakes at both the ends aided by Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) for effective braking. The Honda Dio is currently offered in only one variant - STD which is priced at Rs 49,849 (ex-showroom Delhi) while you can choose from five different colours - blue, red, orange, yellow, and grey. The Dio is part of a highly competitive 110cc scooter segment and competes against the likes of the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro Edge and the Yamaha Ray ZR.
Due to the sporty styling of Honda Dio, this scooter is popular primarily amongst the youngsters. The company launched Dio in India over a decade back and it can be said India’s first moto scooter in real sense.
The Honda Dio is powered by the same 109cc engine that runs the company’s other scooters. The engine comes mated to an automatic gearbox and it churns out respective power and torque figures of 8bhp and 9Nm.
The Honda Dio gets 130mm drum brakes for braking that further come linked to the company’s Combi Braking System (CBS) for effective and better braking. The suspension system of the scooter comes with bottom link type unit up front along with spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers for the rear.
The Honda Dio comes with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and also has a sporty instrument cluster. The overall design language is indeed sporty and for this reason, the scooter finds youngsters as its main buyers.
The 2017 Honda Dio is currently available at the dealerships at a price of Rs 49,200 (Ex showroom, Delhi). The sporty scooter can be picked from five impressive paint schemes. The Dio competes with the Yamaha Fascino, Hero Maestro Edge and TVS Jupiter in the segment.
The Honda Dio gets power from a 109cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to an automatic transmission system. The carbureted motor develops a maximum power output of 8bhp along with a peak torque of 9Nm. The engine is now BS-IV compliant that now results in a slightly better fuel economy in comparison to the previous model.
The Honda Dio achieves a top speed of 83kmph and returns a claimed fuel economy of 60kmpl. The scooter also gets an easy electric starter for the convenience of the rider.
The Honda Dio has been fitted with 130mm drum brakes at both ends. These further come linked to the company’s Combi Braking System (CBS) in order to ensure less chances of skidding.
The suspension system of the Honda Dio comprises of bottom link type unit up front along with spring assisted hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. The Honda Dio rides on 90/100 sized front and rear tyres that come mounted over 10 inch steel wheels.

I love my Honda dio. Yes it can easily beat activa. Only disadvantage is its fibre body ( especially mudguard ) which breaks easily at rough use

I have Dio 2011 model. Fiber body is a problem for long term...I met with 2-3 smaller accidents, one with Bullet..no doubt it sustain it, but front tire cover broken into pieces, body is making so much noise. Now I'm buying new scooter, might buy Activa..

Sir. Considering steep slopes in hills, is it advisable to go for dio considering performance and power? By the way I would be riding with pillion ocassionally.

Confused between Honda Dio and Activa5g, kindly suggest for urban commute.
i am using honda dio since 5 years....too much problems..starting issue..shock absorption issue...fuel consumption high...bike gets off when you stop at signal or minimze accelerator to zero at slope.

Honda Dio has only one con which is suspension otherwise scooter is good, and the wego is also a good option but we haven't seen much updates on its looks.... Totally depends on you..... What you want....

Definitely, its sitting position is not high as Activa 125 and Aviator but take a test ride before buying this scooter.
its weight is less compare to Honda 5G so it is easy to handle for short height people,otherwise its seat height is same as Honda 4/5G
