Finally, a black beard.
I don't get why virtually all black men butcher their beards with aggressive edges and trimming. There was a guy at my work who left the edges alone, he didn't cut weird squares into his lower lip or shave off half his mustache or anything like that and he kept it at a bulky size and it looked amazing because the tightly curled hairs just made it look perfectly thick and without bald spots. I don't get why more black guys don't take advantage of the texture of their hair when it comes to beards.

I've been going to a straight razor master barber for 10 years and she is highly skilled and phenomenal. SO hard to find these days it seems but she is golden.

That’s a great beard. I shaved mines completely for movember, now I’m almost 3 months in. I don’t think I’ll shave it again, but instead just Clean it up and let it grow. I like having a beard, it’s a good feeling.

I'm almost 19 (20 in December), yet my moustache isn't connected, I can see a some baby hairs slowly filling in, how much time will it take to be a full blown thick beard? Will shaving it once a while does any good? I know it's a myth but I haven't put a razor on my face for about a year now. I trim it though.
Good question, so shaving to getting a thicker beard is a myth, yes. In your case, it may simply be a matter of time until you see your mustache begin to fully connect with the rest of your beard. A lot of young men see this happen (myself included). But don't worry, very soon you may start to see the hair fill in a bit more. Time is key though. That doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to care for your beard and skin in the meantime. Take care of your beard, and it will most certainly take care of you.
