    hi. I've owned this bike since may 11th. maybe the first in New York. I am a motorcycle mechanic since 1996. The rs1200 is easily the best I've ridden out all the 100s of bikes I've ridden. Your review is spot on. BUT...... I have a big problem with your camera work while riding. up down up down up down up down up down. did I say up down up down up down? I started to get a bit car sick so I fast forwarded a few times.. work on the up down up down up down and up down and I'd give your videos a 10.

    Wave to the biker! Since I started riding motorcycles on the road 46 years ago to acknowledge another biker from a commuter on his Cub50 to the tourer on his Wing was the done thing showing camaraderie for anything 2 wheels. If a bike was stopped at the side of the road it was the done thing to stop to see if he/she was ok. This is more and more disappearing. I have heard some say it's Harley riders, BM especially GS riders, Ducati riders, Power Rangers also get a mention. My personal experience is it's all of these. I don't know if it's youth, snobbery, arrogance, or whatever.
    From those who do show camaraderie, I have noticed it isn't only a nod, the rise of a few fingers, or a mad wave but throwing a leg out Rossi style is increasing. I guess it's a gesture and appreciated but makes me smile.
    It isn't only on the road camaraderie is disappearing but here on youtube where a channel has chosen a few others to criticise to the point of being aggressive with the aim of being destructive. What is happening?
    All that said this is a great preview by yourself of what is a great bike and the roads being very similar to where I live, informative and entertaining chat as always. Thanks.

    We are blessed to have the peaks to ride around on our doorstep… agree with all the negatives and positives, after 2 trials still unsure I could live with the stiff suspension and other issues, I’ve adjusted it to comfort settings and still harsh. And do we really need a naked bike with 180bhp … I found my old 1050 smoother and a nicer ride in most respects. Love ❤️ your patience on the road, just enjoying the ride no matter the cars in front.

    Great burger at the yonderman. After having a tuono factory I find 180bhp too much for the road. The bike rides you and takes alot of the enjoyment out of it. The race suspension doesn't like our rough pot holed roads either.

    G'day from an ex-pat Cornishman in Australia. We are navigating coming out of COVID lockdowns. Can't 'legally' ride more than 5kms from home, or with mates! It sucks big time. I own a few bikes including a 2011 675R-Ohlins suspension was as hard as f@#k and we have potholes here that would swallow a bloody semi-trailer (or lorry-as I used to say)! Once dialed in all good. This was a great review. So enjoy your banter and attitude in all your work. Guess what I am saying is you have, once again, taken the edge off a shitty day! For that 'I love you'! Bought one as an all-rounder - I commute to work in all-weather, all year (unless there's snow or ice which is very rare here), and for enjoying on back roads and about a half-dozen very amateur track days per year. A hardcore 'full-tuck' bike like an S1000RR or whatnot would have been too compromising for getting to work and the occasional road trip, and a more sedate bike would have underwhelmed at the track or when I go out with my riding crew. I really think super-nakeds from most any manufacturer are the most well-rounded machines that can truly do everything.

I ride with a fairly skilled crew on good roads and do a half-dozen track days per year - for those two reasons, I wanted a ride with the brakes, suspension, and engine to make it both fun and a good challenge. I had a new one as a loan bike a week ago, it goes yep, it stops yep, it sounded great yep, comfy yep. The quick shifter only worked between 1st and 2nd on the one I had, the engine mode selector is too close to the indicator switch. The anti stall is a complete pain when filtering, almost dangerous. Turning circle is large and compared to a KTM 790 it handles heavy, the KTM felt like a 250 on the way home. Suspension is firm but should be able to be sorted given the adjustment available. Would I buy one? Probably not.

    Nice little tour of the peak district Kate , I watched Lamb chops ride that bike round a track , he loved it , he would though lol . Agree with you about those front lights , looks like an afterthought, snatchy throttle is the fuel injection and euro 5 restrictions ect I think . Give it a loud pipe and it would sound even better , love a triple , had a rocket once , loved the sound of that , good review, subscribed Cheers GB

Well, from the side it looks like ET! Couldn't we stick a nice half-fairing on it, like the Aprilia Tuono? Nah! No one is gonna notice."

    Thanks for this test Kate I love this bike I will probably buy it next year :D one thing 9:36 stop the video. that's why I sincerely hate UK roads. A normal car has to almost drive into the bushes because road is too narrow... I know that this is not the main road, but very narrow roads in the UK are very common and it is very bad to drive a car on them. This was the main reason why I bought a motorcycle :D Cheers! waiting for more review

    Thank you, your comments on this machines ride will be very useful. My thought is of comfort, how far do you think you could ride this in one stint. Ive been riding a Honda VF750C1 Magna, yes a cruser, but with a lot of get up and go. I'm not a lover of twin cylinder engines, ive always enjoyed the upper reving engines. I enjoy riding, I don't tour, but our roads in this part of Kent are awful. So looking for enjoyment of riding, and the odd 300ml trip, up country, would you consider this machine.?? Best regards from older rider Pete

    Hi Kate, tried this alongside the 765RS and the Tuono 660. I didn't love the speed due to the suspension and the rougher gear box. It also felt a tiny bit less nimble and you feel more like you're on it then in it. I'm looking forward to the RR semi-fared version coming out in January 2022. I will definitely test it but the price tag is huge.

    Great review, was out last week on the 1200, your right about the suspension, and getting neutral was a pain I had to from 2nd to first to get it. The engine is fantastic and it does feel like a street triple on steroids. But is it worth trading in the speed 1050 Rs in for the extra power 🤔 and the extra price tag, I’m not so sure.

    • @axelotl86
      @axelotl86 Před 2 lety +2

      I’ve got the 1200RS in my Garage and can tell you that the suspension works very good when fitted to the person riding the bike. The missing neutral is getting better after some hundred of miles.

      I have the speed 1200 rs after selling mu speed 1050 rs. The problem in the 1200 are not the suspensions, the problem are the metzeler, belive me. Please try another tires, I can't believe a pair of tires could make such a big diferent. I don't know what else tires could work because is my first change. Hi Kate,
    maybe it is just the machine I would need. I still burn the wounds (in honor) inflicted on me by the GS 1250 and its riders , yesterday around lunchtime at the Passo della Futa. My katana begins to scream and give the best of itself when the straight is over (damn!). Besides, I was struggling, while he seemed to go for a walk ... he was certainly better than me, but I see that that bike gives them a big hand. Since you have tried the Katana and the Gsxs euro5, do you think this Triumph is better, in terms of torque at low revs?
