Lost a fellow picker brother-in-law and great friend in 2021. Merle was his favorite country player and singer. By now both have probably had a lot of talks and are to be met on that "beautiful shore" one day.

This is the youngest I've ever heard old Merle!! Wish it had the year of the recording.
This was from 1971. There are many earlier recordings. Haggards albums started in the 60’s. Even Mama Tried was from 1968 so if you’ve heard that, you’ve heard a younger Merle :)
