That is the number one lesson I learned from you Joe, if you aren't going to be happy with the results of the single cycle, you're better off just doing a 2-stage. I always think of that lesson before I put pad to paint.

Awesome video, Joe! I’m coming back to correcting cream a lot now for one steps. I see what you mean too about there being some excess product left over at times after wiping it off - I’ll look at my results under the lights and find places that the product was stubborn during removal. Correcting Cream smells so good though! 😆
I'm glad I'm not the only one doing what you said. Chasing defects is no fun, aggravating, and boy do I get tired. Most people are not so critical that they take a light and judge your 1 step. Ive found that they are very happy with the results. Why do we go crazy out of our minds and seek perfection when its not expected?

I actually bought Fast Correcting Cream based on one of his previous videos a while back. That stuff is some awesome stuff. I have to give it to Griot's, the BOSS system was a well thought out system (Polisher, Pads, Chemicals) that WORKS! For someone just getting into detailing seriously, they really can't go wrong with the BOSS system and would get great results.
This is so true. I started doing light 2 steps with urofiber and a finish pad and it's way quicker than a "one step with a lighter pad. And way better results. I just have to charge accordingly
I really appreciate you taking the time to teach and explain how to be more efficient. I think of a one step as a paint enhancement and explaining to your customer the different results that can be achieved between a one step enhancement or two step compound and polish.
Best video ever! Just had to do the 2 ish step today as I wasnt satisfied with the actual one step. Black vehicle only 4k miles. Got a generous tip too 4 hrs on an SUV including the wash.
I have an Audi S6 and have polished it twice, both with a one step. And like you said, it's 85-90%. It's been 3 years and time to remove the Cquartz UK and recoat with Ethos Graphene. I'll hit it with a fine polish this time as well. My paint is very hard, so It's nearly a mirror with the one step. I can't wait to see what it looks like with a 2 step. Might even hit the hood with a black pad and an extra fine polish this time around. Good demo, thank you. PS next vid point out the importance of a perfect microfiber when you wipe or it can undo that perfect polish.
I think you are so right my friend! You have to set realistic goals before you ever go into this one step job. Getting the best of both worlds on those five section passes takes lots of experience. And everybody will go about it differently. Take for instance I would have used a uro 50/50 microfiber pad with some 3d one polish but even that is just a guess.I'm not there looking at the paint. Paint corrections is very subjective.

So true, but sometimes we should try different pads. I like the 50/50 euro pad and the orange pads for one steps. Sometimes I use a microfiber polishing pad, not cutting, with a all in one and it gives a coating like finish. Working with the pads it's really the secret.
Reality in the real world (yes as a pro. We end up doing more cycles even after they paid for a 1 stage). Only reason to eliminate the loss of time is to remove the one stage for new customers. After a full correction charge has been done. They can return for the 1 stage maintenance package. Overall, you did us all pros a good way to be as humble as possible explaining the different results and what hard work and effort we put for the customers.
So what I was thinking ONE WAY was rupes yellow with foam (for the whole car if most of the car takes) and if there are any spots that need more attention hit it with rupes blue then finish the whole car with the white one. Each step is meant to be a one step so I don't see why it couldn't be used like that. It was just a thought. So far I'm in the middle of doing my first 2 step with ceramic on my tahoe
Joe I’m in the market for a new polisher should I get the rupes mark 3 or should I go for the boss g21 I know you’ve said it in many videos that the Boss is a work horse or should I go force rotation?
That really depends on the other machines you own. The mark 3 or g21 are excellent choices you are going to be happy with either one. The griots is nice because of the warranty. Rupes is also a class act company and has a one year warranty. Give me a mark 3 g21 or a boss g21 and I’ll be a happy camper. As long as it’s a 21 😉 Deciding between those machines is like picking a Lamborghini over a Ferrari. You can’t really make a “wrong” choice. As far as the forced rotation goes do you have any 5” inch or 3” inch edge tools. Forced rotation is nice because you can get the job done with ONE machine. The boss and rupes tools are SYSTEMS with an array of different tools and combinations to compliment each other. It really depends on your overall goal and end game

That depends on the machine I’m using and the overall goal. On my long throws typically 4-4.5 Griots garage 6” 4.5-5 3401 5-6 Porter cable 5.5-6 I’m using the autofiber elite edged towel in this video.
so an AIO one step you use the fast correcting cream, and in the two step you use correcting cream and finish cream? on the griots system the fast correcting is for severe defects and the correcting is for minor defects so wouldn't it be best to do the one step with the correcting and the two step with fast correcting cream ----> finishing? Dezcanso You have everything mixed up. Fast correcting cream and correcting cream is not an all-in-one. All-in-one application is not a real “one step paint correction” watch some of my other videos regarding paint enhancements. I stated everything I used in the video give it another watch. Fast correcting cream = compound Correcting cream = hybrid compounding polish Perfecting cream = finishing polish Finishing sealant = finishing polish with sealant I used fast correcting cream in one buffing cycle and did one cycle with perfecting cream. No all in one was used in this video as the client was compensating for a multi-stage paint correction and coating.

Dezcanso you didn’t watch all of the video. I used correcting cream on one side to demonstrate all of the buffing cycles that would be needed to get the panel up to par. On the left side I did one buffing cycle with fast correcting cream (I stated this in the video) and then one buffing cycle with perfecting cream. @ 5:40 is when I explained and showcased one buffing cycle with fast correcting cream. I didn’t use correcting cream and then perfecting cream. You are correct that would be pointless.
In all reality I’m not as picky when it comes to finishing polishes. I think all top tier finishing polishes have almost identical characteristics. What makes a finishing polish elite: Easy wipe off No dusting Not oily If a finishing polish has those characteristics it’s elite in my book regardless of what’s on the label. Perfecting cream Is indeed an elite finishing polish but it’s nothing earth shattering and ground breaking like I think fast correcting or correcting cream is. I will make a video on what I believe to be is the most elite and unique finishing polish I have ever used. Keep an eye out for it. Thank you for watching my videos.
As soon as u said mindset i knew you could only be talking about perfection. I.e., dont perfect the paint as the detailer for 1 step price. Dont allow ur customer to think they will be getting perfection out if either. It will always take the defects out n make a paint look amazing. I did this with 3d hybrid compound n polish with a (not one many) buff n shine euro pads. These pads are fucking amazing and make the difference. You can actually cut with them. You do the same job with a white pad ur not getting shit off. U do it with an orange pad, ur still not getting shit off. N ur gonna have to do it again with another pad anyway. I love detailing vehicles. For me its my spare time and fun
I wonder if the same result can be obtained with the Euro fiber pad, and a single step, great video, also, one of the reasons is called a one step, is that no protection is added after. 👍🏼
Richard Fox when you use, 3D HD speed, or other similar products that leave protection behind, or are all in one. If not then, you need the extra step of adding your favorite liquid wax, or sealant
Richard Fox there are no rules as far as how you call each process. A one step is, one polish or compound with one pad, a two step is, compound ( more aggressive ) with cutting pad, and then polish cream and polishing with softer pad. An AIO ( all one polish) offers protection and polish and minor correction, known as paint enhancement, paint correction is 2 steps cutting compounding and polishing finishing, it all depends on the pad and cream you use, man, paints are different, some are soft some are hard, sometimes a polishing pad with medium or soft cutting compound gives you, your one step enhancement ( topic of this video) sometimes a finishing polish may give a good result with a medium cut pad, you want to work less, bring life to paint and keep as much clear to preserve the paint and prevent a new paint job. So, if you don't use an AIO and need protection afterwards you can call it whatever you want, a one step plus protection or a 2 step, enhancement and protection 😉
Also, in this video, griots fast correcting cream is being used, a good AIO, that is why it is called a one step correction, but I will call it enhancement also, since perfection was never the goal here, 😉
As a fellow detailer I do this all the time because I want customer referrals and want to exceed the client’s expectations. At night, after I clean all my pads, I sit down at the table and calculate how many hours the job took and the hourly rate I earned on the job. That’s when I get frustrated and angry with myself for not quoting a higher price. On black cars I always try and sell a two-stage paint correction but people are tightwads.
I do a square for test spot, the outter is onenstep and the inner side is 2 step. So clients can see the result and remove all the guessing and expectations
@@richardfox3924 imagine a square made by masking tape, do another square inside of the masked square but that little one is where you perform 2 step. The bigger one is 1 step
Yup, it's so true. That is our problem. We tend to spoil our customers. Black cars should be priced appropriately. It's best to have a proper routine and chemicals and price range for black cars or it's going to be a loss. The owners of black cars know that so they try to find the fool. 😳🤯
One step is a one step. There will be some marks remaining. It is normal. There is no reason in making 2 or 3 one step passes. Just make a multi step paint correction instead.
Your just not doing it for the correct job no offense. If i bring in my vehicle with just sun worn paint with maybe some good water spots, one step will rejuvenate ur paint and make it look good with the correct pad. The pad is equally important as the product as is speed of machine, as is nunber of passes, as is knowledge of the type of paint ur detailing. You can also go through n compound what needs compounding and then 1 stepped the entire vehicle after. There are so many avenues that work. I corrected my paint similarly with a 2012 super white tacoma, n a deep blue 2010 subaru outback. Both vehicles the paint was neglected. Both vehicles turned out night n day diff. The subaru looked so good it was insane. The tacoma was nearly impossible to polish out the scratches, super soft paint. The suby had much easier paint to finish n look perfect with less effort. That doesn't mean the tacoma didnt come out great. People where i work saw both n said both looked amazing. No one besides me n some that maybe know paint, knew that the tacoma was riddled in small scratches from the compounding i couldn't get out. It was also a super soft paint n a 1 step application from factory im pretty sure. Not color then clear, its a mix that the clear rises to the top upon drying or soemthing weird like that. Point is the subaru is conventionally painted with multiple steps and it makes for a much better finished product. My tacoma also had huge paint chips from the doors by the window that just chipped off, basically separating itself from the primer. It never adhered to the paint the way it should have. It was a great finished product because u dont realize ur white truck is not white until u get that yellowing weathered layer off to reveal what it should look like and it looked beautiful under it. Its just soft paint is so hard to finish. I tried many things in diff spots to remove the scratches n used 10 dollar (each) super soft and very delicate but still absorbing micro fiber cloths on the paint that would still prove to scratch it with micro scratches after waxing it. I did find a good white glaze that did basically eliminate all the micro scratches but it was annoying adding 3 products to the paint each time id paint the vehicle.
This video just might have the most TRUTH I have ever heard. So guilty of numerous passes doing a one step. Duh....

Oh, so don't apply sealant or wax?

It was a great finished product because u dont realize ur white truck is not white until u get that yellowing weathered layer off to reveal what it should look like and it looked beautiful under it. Its just soft paint is so hard to finish. I tried many things in diff spots to remove the scratches n used 10 dollar (each) super soft and very delicate but still absorbing micro fiber cloths on the paint that would still prove to scratch it with micro scratches after waxing it.
I did find a good white glaze that did basically eliminate all the micro scratches but it was annoying adding 3 products to the paint each time id paint the vehicle.
