Rebekah Stewart Poetry I had a hard time finding an answer, too. :p That’s why, when I figured it out, I made this. I’m glad it was helpful. I’m not sure they haven’t changed things since I made this though.
@@CSWells-uq4jx I followed your step by step instructions, just requested a proof. And ensured I didn't hit the publish button. Thanks again. Enjoy the rest of your day.
THANK YOU for this...Searched everywhere for the answer to this very question....and your video answered it perfectly. Whew! THANK YOU! PS: I really miss Createspace!
Nice video! Utopia internet does seem to be pretty fast with KDP. I only have Dystopia internet here in Wisconsin, comparatively. Not sure if you ever got graphic design software going, but I've been using Photoscape (which is free for its basic version on both Mac and Windows) and it has worked really well with KDP templates and an ounce of creativity. Whoever is spending tens of thousands of dollars for cover designs is seriously lost, in my estimation, haha. But I guess if someone is looking to team up with a well-known artist for marketing or networking reasons, that could make sense. I've watched your video "How Much Did I Spend To Self-Publish?" as well, so this is a comment on both videos... The cover for We'll Never Land really is nice, though. If you go even more DIY for future publications, Photoscape can handle KDP covers very well at no charge, as long as you can take the exported PNG or JPG and create a PDF version via word-processor. Cheers!
Thanks so much for the fantastic tutorial. I really appreciate it. I just have one question. If you click approve and order your proof copy before publishing, can you go back and change something if it needs to be changed once you have reviewed the proof copy? Thanks again for the fantastic tutorial.
I am in the process of going through kdp right now and i believe they have changed this process to get an advanced copy. They now state that you can get a proof copy when your book goes live, and isnt that after you publish?
Hi question ! Is it possible to order two proofs with two different covers? I’m not sure which cover I want to go with. But I don’t want to change it and then order two books with the same cover. Is it possible to change the cover and order another book with a different cover ? So basically two proofs that showcase two different covers?
I need to do this. After I placed my book for sale I found out years later it was Copyright infringed and the four women fled the USA to other Countries. Now I'll just print them and sell them myself so I know who's buying them.
My novel is finished ,just a bit more needing a bit more to be typed. I want to see my work after being in pieces after a couple of years, and much revising , seing it. all togrther in a book. And my typist son ,also a writer of shott stories , E glish major ,me was qualified as an Emhlish teacher , have kept up with Proofing, editing along the way ,and ladt minute checks are ready I also want to asap order a second fopy for my typist son who deserves me to do that.
This is interesting. Can you print stuff that dont belong to you with this ? Like out of print novels / comics or some scientific paper ? not for resale of course.
How/where can you print individual copies of books at an affordable cost, that ARE for resale? Like, if you wanted to make custom books and not order in bulk?
So when we are ready to publish it after we made the edits - do we use the same draft ? Or do we just restart the whole upload process as another upload ?
BootlegTarzan good question. You can just change your uploaded file to your most recent draft. (make sure to update anything else you’ve decided to change as well.)
BootlegTarzan Yeah, they do. It might have to go through the approval process (if your actually publishing) which can take a day or two, but they don’t charge you like Ingramspark does.
I m trying to find out how to order a book from Print On Demand where I plan to send my manuscript ,and others can order a copy of my book after that .
Great question. You will need to check your formatting and fix anything that may have gotten messed up. I usually do a Souvenir proof copy whenever I finish a first draft. And then I do another proof copy when I believe the book is finalized to make sure everything looks correct. But KDP allows you to re-upload a new file anytime you want(provided they haven’t changed that since the last time I used KDP over a year ago) If you decide to use Ingram spark however, know that they penalize you with a $25 fee anytime you make a change to your file, or anything that you change on the book.
There’s a couple things I use proofs for. 1) after I finish my first draft, I like to get one as a souvenir to celebrate the completion. 2) I also find it easier on the eyes to do some editing and proof reading from a printed copy rather than on a screen 📺. I highlight changed and write post-it notes of changes to enter into the computer later. 3) I like to give my first round of betas the option of reading it from a hard copy because it feels nice to give them that option. Some of my most trusted betas are in their 60 and 70’s so they appreciate it. Usually, you’ll want to edit in your word doc or other software you’ve used for your drafts( scrivener or whatever else is out there.) Then when you’re ready to print again, you’ll convert the new draft to a PDF. At least, i’ve never been able to figure out how to edit the actual PDF copy. I’m not sure if you can. At least, not with the way that I’m doing it. But in all honesty, I am no expert. I only know the things that I’ve tried doing, and I can only pass on information I’ve learned from that.
Hi ma’am , thanks for the video, I have a query , what if I create designs for low/no content books from Canva which are licence free and once I publish, can anyone else copy my design and get their product trademarked or copyrighted ? Should I get my book copyrighted or trademarked? Can you please advice for situation like this?
That is a great question! I wish I had an answer for you, but to be honest, I have no clue. My knowledge on copyright and the more nuanced parts of that stuff is limited, to nonexistent. Sorry, I’m no help on that one :(
Will just want a plain front cover ,no color at all, Title ,under that aabiut 3 words, and under that. Word by ,and under that, my name , about an 8x 5 size. , for page countb inside psge colyright , wirds relating to, dedication.centeted left, right side. A quotation, then Inside title page .

How to make the book cover?

Does it ship internationally?
Doing this counts as publishing date? Is the book copyrighted?
Is it a problem to go back and download the finished version of the book since formatting, content etc could be quite different?
