@windstorm1000 I find your comment useless and offensive: Visconti was one of the greatest italian director who had ever lived. Have you ever seen "la caduta degli dei" or "Il giardino dei Finzi contini"?! I can understand that you may not appreciate this particular kind of film but don't be so drastic in exposing your personal opinion.

No, she was 32-33! The filming was during 1971, released 1972! She was born in September 1938 and died 1982, aged 43 or 44

il giardini de finzi contini was made by de sica, sorry....but you are right,visconti was a genius and ludwigII is one part of the german trilogy he produced, death in venice and the damned are the other two.

このルートヴィヒ２世のゾフィーに対する態度は酷い。ヴィスコンティは上手く描き出していますね。

ゾフィーが、エリーザベート皇后ほどの知性と感受性を持ち合わせていなかったことは、写真からも窺われる。
だから、ルートヴィヒ２世がゾフィーとの婚約を解消してエリーザベートを想い続けたのも理解できなくはない。
が、従兄妹で幼馴染だったのだから、それなら、エリーザベートがフランツ・ヨーゼフ皇帝と出会う前に、きちんと意思表示するべきでしたよね。
バイエルン王家の傍系ということで、ウィーン宮廷では軽んじられ、ウィーン宮廷の堅苦しさにもなじめず、外遊を重ねた末に暴漢に暗殺されたというエリーザベート皇后が、もし、ルートヴィヒ２世と結婚していたら、歴史は違っていたのか？
エリーザベートなら、もっと賢く文化サロンなども取り仕切り、バイエルン王国を盛り立てたかもしれないと思うと残念です。

ルートヴィヒ２世亡き後のバイエルン王国は、結局、たいした国王も輩出せずに崩壊、しかもノイシュヴァンシュタイン城などの建設費用をプロイセンから借りたために、プロイセン主導のドイツ統一を許す羽目になったというではありませんか。
訪れてみると分かるのだけれど、リンダーホーフ城や、ルートヴィヒ２世が育ったホーエンシュヴァンガウ城などは、バイエルン王国の「身の丈に合った」、派手過ぎず、そしてシュヴィントなどの壁画が飾られた、適度にメルヘンチックで、地に足の付いた文化の香りを感じさせる。
ノイシュヴァンシュタイン城のディズニー的なメルヘンチックさは、少し異常だものね。
Romy was the best thing of this terrible movie. But that's no surprise everything she was in she instilled with naturalness and life---only Ingrid Bergman is her equal . Why is this in Italian with two German leads and about a german king???? makes no sense--yes, Visconti was Italian but what an ideot--lets do B. Cellini in Spanish!!!
Visconti is reconised as one of the best director of all the time, and H. Berger is a real actor, to describe this movie ad terrible means that maybe is better if you look at one of the american movie avalaible in the market place.

It’s dubbed. The movie was shot in English and from what I heard the original version is better than the Italian one (The French one has Romy’s voice and it’s not bad either)
Capisco che Re Ludovico era terrorizzato dalla sola idea di doversi sposare, e che a Bad Ischl Sissi e la sua odiata zia nonché suocera, l'Arciduchessa Sophia, sorella sia di Ludovica, madre dell'Imperatrice, sia del defunto padre di Ludovico, avevano convocato i vertici dell'Impero Austriaco e del Regno Bavarese per annunciare il matrimonio tra Ludwig e la cugina Sophia, sorella minore di Elisabetta, e con un pretesto che non era neppure tale taglia la corda per rientrare a Monaco, ma non aspettare l'arrivo dell'Imperatore, suo cugino Francesco Giuseppe d'Asburgo-Lorena, era un terribile affronto all'Imperiale e Regale Maestà del Sovrano di mezza Europa. Doveva attendere Franz Joseph e fargli presente che per motivi personali non poteva prendere in moglie la Duchessina Sophia. Ci avrebbe pensato l'Imperatrice, che aveva capito benissimo quale fosse il " problema" del cugino Re di Baviera, a spiegare il tutto al consorte e cugino.
