That's one of the hardest things to get passed when doing projects like this. Especially if a customer is paying for the work. However that is the nature of the beast when it comes to this stuff.
That was a great visual with the incorrect panel compared the the finished one. That helps me understand what the metal needs.
Ive realized that at least showing the results of the wrong way really helps people get it. And in reality that should be obvious, I've learned by doing and getting it wrong. So I know when I see something heading the wrong direction. I need to try and remember to include it more.

Just made my first go last night prepping the
Wheel well panel with the HF shrinker. Learned that the shrink results for steel are much less for aluminum (or were in my case) As for now rolling the edge...i bought an adjustable fence with my MB 36. I'd guess using it could be value added to a beginner like me...would you agree
I have actually never used a guide to tell you whether it’s a good thing or not. I’ve never had one so I just always freehanded everything. They seem like a great idea for straight lines but I always worry about binding up by accidentally feeding the panel in toward the guide.
Try it out on some test pieces and get comfortable with it before you try using it on a real project is the best suggestion I have.

Hey Alan I am looking to get my first english wheel. I am new to metal shaping, and need something to get started with and practicing on. Something that is space saving, and cheap on the wallet is ideal. I was looking at some brands like eastwood, baileigh, and am really considering the metal ace 22b benchtop model.
If you are considering the MetalAce wheel I would absolutely say get that one. I own one myself. The other options you listed are sub-par import products made by companies just making a product to sell, not aiming to make a good tool.
The Eastwood wheel is shockingly small and pathetic when you see it in person. The Baileigh one is just a recolored version of the Harbor Freight wheel. The Harbor Freight wheel has a lot of issue. Sloppy play in the lower anvil holder, the wheels are always out of round in my experience, and the frame is surprisingly weak for how big it looks. There are great write ups on how to reinforce and improve the HF wheel but in my eyes it's a waste of time. You'd spend a fair amount of time and a little bit of money just to get it to the level the MetalAce wheel is already at.
The benchtop MetalAce isn't amazing when compared to it's bigger brothers but I absolutely recommend it over those other options. I will always keep mine because it's smaller 2" wide anvils come in handy on smaller parts.

What size die are you using ?
It needs to be shrunk
What a pain, just get covell's round over.
I did a video about it a long time ago but the Covell dies don’t round over nearly as much as this. I never claimed this was the “easy way” but in my opinion it is the better way. The willingness to put in the work is a solid part of what sets some work apart.
If the Covell dies DID round over this much, they’d require the exact same amount of work to make the finished product. I had them before. I love a lot of what Ron does and Produces but just not those dies.
