I started watching Lost in Space when I was 8 years old, I am 58 years old and am still watching it, Thanks Irwin Allan
Me too dude 😂
I'm 62 & still love it!!!!!
Same here buddy I'm 59
I’m 57 and still watch too
I'm 53.
The LiS episodes were shown years later, that is almost a decade later in Australia, and that was perfect for me.
I would come home after school and watch
Lost In Space from 4 - 5 p.m daily from 1975 to 1978. 😀👌
I was 11 y/o when this show began in the early sixties. I had the biggest crush on Penny Robinson. I was heartbroken when the series ended. Very disappointed that there was no conclusion...it just ended.
Penny should have gotten an Emmy for no where man
My mom went to school and was friends with Marta Christensen in Farmington hills mi. That made it extra special for us.
I loved that show during its first run when I was 7yo and still today at 63!!
Now 64...............in a few months 65!!!!!!!!!!
"Oh the pain, the pain............"
I always liked the Robot! Everyone should have a lost in space Robot!
Thanks for the video. My feelings about LOS are pretty much as your's are, it holds a special place and I recall it fondly. Always will.
As a kid I never missed an episode of lost in space. My dads black and white zenith
Yep- Wednesday night at 7:30 on CBS (Channel 2).
Me too! Zenith rules!!!
@@wardragonprime Same with me.
I always wished that my Father was more like John Robinson.
I used to lose myself in this show.
A massive part of my childhood.
Thanks to everyone who took part in making it.
Me too. While other kids were having dreams about being one of the Brady Bunch kids I was having dreams about being one of the Lost in Space kids.
...hey my dad was Professor Robinson😂😂😂
What amazed me about this show was How did they fit so much equipment and supplies in the Jupiter2. And Lost In Space was my gateway drug into electronics with a video screen.
My favorite episodes were "Trip Inside The Robot", "The Anti-Matter Man" and of course, "War Of The Robots"
Just watched the anti matter man the other day..
@@stevenrenaud5900
Ditto 👌👍
War of the Robots, the original BattleBots.
" The antimatter man" had a bearded Don, " Mirror, Mirror " had a bearded Spock.
Yes my favorite episodes also, Also loved the episodes where will on his own went to earth & where the Robinson's returned to earth 50yrs before they took off in 1997👍🇦🇺
The original Lost in Space was awesome. It will always be special.
Season One is no doubt the best of the three; it's a true shame Seasons Two and Three didn't live up to the promise of Season One but in hindsight everything's easy to analyse and make recommendations. Years later when I view the DVDs of this series with my now grown grandson the fact he and his friends enjoy the series almost as much as grandpa does. Thank you for creating what for me is a marvellous overview. I think the Anti-matter Man was one of the best - another favourite was a Season One classic "My Friend Mr Nobody". Much appreciation from Melbourne, Australia.
It was a great show the all time it was on TV and you could not forget the show
Favorite show as a kid now my granddaughter watches it the first thing when she gets up.
I grew up watching Lost in Space loved it
Marta Kristen was gorgeous and still is 🥰🥰🥰
She was my very first crush as a kid.❤❤❤❤❤
Guy Williams had that Superman look about him ...
Especially when there was a curl sitting in front of his forehead!
The "Lost In Space" Marathon on October 16, 1997 was awesome!
My favorite show when I was a kid. I was born in 1962. What great memories thanks.💓
In series 3 i liked Journey to a Hostile planet when the jupiter 2 land on Earth in 1947.
YES, me too!! Was that a '47 Ford they found??
@@trainsntile I do think they did try and reign in the campyness in series 3 because you had this episode and The Anti Matter man The Condemned of Space .On the 47 Ford i always think of the same car only a convertible that Phil Silvers drove in my favourite film Its a Mad MadMad Mad World.
Agreed. A good episode.
Yea to me the best eposide of the series and you get to see the Jupiter 2 landing and the full size of the ship..
That and Anti-matter Man were the best of the 3rd season.
Great! Brought back fond memories of childhood 😊😊😊
I love the re-runs since 1978. WLVI 3:00 p.m. M-Saturday, I was terrified of the Robot at first, then I liked him as he became more "Human". I live in Western Mass.
Magical stuff. So imaginative and self styled.
As a kid I freakin loved it!!! Boomers had it good!!!!
The Dr. Smith character taught me who not to be as a man and a s a person. For this I thank Mr. Harris and Mr. Allen.
Antimatter Man and Visit to a Hostile Planet are great and John Williams third season theme is awesome,!
"Lost in Space" was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid (I remember the first TV airings). Like the other three shows Irwin Allen produced back in the 1960's, LIS was a science fiction variant of classical literature, based on "The Swiss Family Robinson" ("Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" updated "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", as was "The Time Machine", becoming "The Time Tunnel" and "Land of the Giants" was inspired by Brobdingnag of "Gulliver's Travels").
And like all of Allen's shows, LIS had a few plots using the classical literature formula, such as "The Magic Mirror", which was inspired by "Peter Pan", and "Collision of Planets", which not only parodied the Biblical story of Samson, but biker/hippie movies as well.
I also find it ironic that LIS did better in the ratings than "Star Trek" and that both are now hailed as 'classic television'...
I always wanted some of those colorful velour shirts from the show. They should have marketed them back in the day.
I really liked both theme songs. They are very cool. Back when most shows had great theme music,
Follow The Leader and the Anti-Matter Man. Both times featuring Guy Williams at his best playing evil doubles.
The outfits they wore in the color episodes deeply influenced the design of fast food uniforms to this day.
Great show. Obsessed with this one when I was a kid. Watched them all over and over.
I loved the series growing up. Never missed John William's music either
I love Lost In Space watched it every afternoon
"The Great Vegetable Rebellion" would probably have made a great Warner Brothers cartoon!
Batman has a lot to answer for, we all know what was behind it, sadly it still goes on.
Great video Jonny, it is great revisiting these memories. I have to admit I was totally in love with Penny (Angela Cartwright) even though she is one year older than me. I have only recently discovered that she was born just one hour's drive north of where I was born, it's a small world.
When I was 6 (when the show first ran), I had a big crush on the older daughter, 6 years later, when I first saw it in reruns, the 12 yr old me discovered a newfound appreciation for Penny, who was now my new LOS crush!
Began viewing in syndication just time to be one of those young kids a generation late. LiS was on 5 days a week on wkbd50 out of Detroit. Great vid.
I watched too...in Detroit area, it was on every weekday at 5pm!!! I loved the 3rd season especially....costumes/uniforms were great..black boots also.
Me too about watching it from that station!
I will always love the show..
Love this show. I watch it every Saturday night on Me_ TV.
Thank you for liking.
I wish it was on at an earlier time!...why 1 or 2am????????
Great first season with spooky music, used to run home from school to watch the show.
As a kid I liked this show but now as a adult I can only watch the first season and a few of the episodes throughout the series.
Same here today season 2 and 3 so corny
You sort of have to pick and choose the decent episodes from season 2 and 3. Prisoners of Space is still one of my favorites. The Robot has some good lines in that episode.
Had some nice moments.
Love your videos, always well researched and put together
5 : 58
Bill Shatner with Angela Cartwright and Jonathan Harris .
Wow !!!!!
I loved all of S1, S2 -The Golden Man, S3 the new theme tune, Journey to a Hostile Planet, The Anti-Matter Man & Hunters Moon. I was saddened when LOS finished so abruptly, with no real conclusion. That said, no-one can ever doubt the wonder of Irwin Allen. A very good overview of a fondly remembered show.
One thing about lost in space the John Williams themes.
The second season was the worst, but I still love the show. My favorite episode was the “Time Merchant, season 3”. Dr Smith placed the family ahead of his dream of going back to Earth.
This! If he hadnt gone back, they would have died, in the end he manned up and did the right thing and saved them all
@@Kharis1964 my favorite lines in that episode:
Robot and Smith are trying to get on board before liftoff. Smith is stuck in the airlock door.
Smith: We'll be incinerated!
Robot: Correction. I will be incinerated. You will just look silly, hanging by your toes in space.
I agree with your assessment. I too have been a lifelong fan of the show and thought season one was the best. The last episode of season one was also my favorite of the series. It was a show my friends and I would watch as a kid and it didn't disappoint us at the time.
It's One of The Most Spectacular and Expensive, Science Fiction Television Shows Ever Made
Will Robinson was an unusual kid hero who had two brilliant parents, and he was fluent in high technology too. Kids like that didn't happen until much later when they began inventing disruptive computer software like Napster.
I thought this show could do no wrong when I was a kid. I really thought it was the most intelligent science fiction drama on television. Now I look back and laugh. I can only watch season one. The rest is so ridiculous.
Season 2 is ridiculous...season 3 is great minus vegetable rebellion...
Same opinion here on growing up with that series.
Some CZcams videos that I’ve seen say that Erwin Allen always wanted the show to be taken seriously and that it was the studio executives that thought it was too scary for younger kids and that’s why the tone changed for the next two seasons.
Hi Go Smart Things. Go Great Calculations and Technologies.
Nice Memory's. And great looks
You have one of the best channels on youtube on any topic. Great work!!! Keep posting!!!
I also grew up with Lost In Space. Prisoners of Space is still one of my favorites. Also, the end of Ghost Planet when the Jupiter 2 has to evade a missile. That is one of the best scenes from the entire series! The drama and the building up of the music are so well done.
Thank you Jonathan! I very much enjoyed your review of one of my very favorite TV shows!
I remember this show came on Wednesday night at 730 on CBS.That was the only show my whole family liked along with me
The robot was a smart ass. I liked him.
The robot had some great lines.
Even as a kid in the 60's I thought this show was totally silly. But then again I was a big Star Trek fan, still am..., so comparing the two was like comparing a VW bug to a Corvette.
Star Trek will always be my favorite. I wish it could have gone on for at least 5 years.
I always prefered VWs to Corvettes
Fantastic look back Jonathan. Lost In Space continues to be one of my all time favorites. I have the remastered series on Blu-ray. Great job here.
The Lost In Space BluRays are beautiful.
Agree. When I watch my Blu-Rays of LIS, I can't believe how vivid everything looks. Amazing how a show from 50 plus years ago can be brought back to life like that visually.
Very enjoyable and nostalgic for me ... subscribed.
As Dr. Smith would say, "SPARE ME YOUR INSENSITIVE INSIGHT YOU CANTANKEROUS CLUMP!!!"... I loved the whole series. 🤣🤣🤣
i renember the thought machine
in Wish Upon A Star
Bobbie May, unseen inside the Robot ... was brilliant.
There must be something wrong with me, I LOVED and STILL love "The great vegetable Rebellion"
Favorite show from my childhood! I recently watched all three seasons, in order. First season was excellent, second season was mostly a let down, but had some good episodes. Third season was only fair, and the worst of the three. Thanks for posting this!
Yes even as a child I could see that the show was going down in quality in its second and third years. I actually think they should have stuck with the black and white of the first season. It gave the show more gravitas. The Great Vegetable Rebellion was sooooo bad that quite often, when the shows would come back in reruns, I'd skip that stink-a-roo, All in all It was a good series and if you haven't had a chance I'd recommend that you watch the new version of Lost In Space on Netflix. The writing, acting and special effects are all top notch and it's fun to see how they've changed the dynamic of the characters and all over storytelling from the original. There are quite a few call backs to the original show if you care to look. If not it stands on its own as a totally new TV show. I highly recommend it! Thanks again Jonny Baak for another very well put together episode.
I agree. The original is wonderfully nostalgic, but the new Netflix series is simply astounding and great.
I loved it all as a kid but I do agree season 1 was definitely the best with the most riveting scripts and scenes. The derelict is my all time favorite episodes because of the mystery and able to get away from the ship that just swallowed them up with no problem.
12:58 That's from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
I think it would've been great if Angela Cartwright's sister Veronica had made a guest appearance in one of the episodes. Actually, she was very busy herself on "Daniel Boone" and other projects at the time, but it would've been nice.
I always thought she played the "Real" Space Princess in Princess of Space
Veronica Cartwright played Lambert in Alien.
The best LinS episode of all time: "All That Glitters"
Grew up watching Lost in Space. Loved it. Wonderful memories. Favorites were The Sky is falling, Wish upon a star, Attack of the monster plants, Return from outer space, Keeper Parts 1 and 2. And especially Follow the leader. Basically the entire 1st season was awesome. Only a few of the second season come to mind. The Cave of the Wizards was good. Trip through the robot, as well as Wreck of the robot. The Phantom Family, The Astral Traveler, and The Galaxy Gift were written well. Everything changed in the 3rd and final season. Several episodes were ok, but even after reruns began, I couldn't wait for it to get back to the black and whites of the first year. 3rd season memories are pretty much, A visit to a hostile planet, Anti matter man, Space Creature, Target Earth, and The time merchant. I was definitely a fan of the show. Never missed an episode in the mid sixties when it aired, and hurried home from school in the later sixties when it began reruns in Phoenix. I think September 1969 was when KTAR tv channel 12 picked it up. It had only been canceled the year before. I'd rush home at 330. Make my ice tea and sandwich, then fire up my old black and white tube tv in my bedroom. My sister and I would actually audio record our favorite episodes with our radio shack tape recorders. Lol. Was cool to fall asleep every night listening to a recording of it. Like I said, I was a serious fan of lost in space. Super great memories, and still watch it not only on my DVD collection, but also on METV every Saturday night. I'm in my sixties now. Lol
If the show stayed on course from the first season I think it would have rivaled Star Trek!
Lost in Space always had better ratings then Star Trek
It was at the time but that campy comedy got old fast, Batman was Irwin's template, He should have stuck with his original formula.
Sorry, but it NEVER would have rivaled Star Trek. No real thought went into the science, and they never dealt with social issues. List in Space lacked the depth of Star Trek. It was more a crisis of the week show.
Star Trek (TOS) is probably my favorite TV show, The 3rd season was somewhat disappointing, I'm still sad Irwin Allen turned LIS (2nd and 3rd season) into a campy children's show!
To corny . Way to corny I hated the cast . As a result I never watched a full episode. . Maybe I missed something
This was a great tv show know madder what
Lost in space was a good series for time.
Thank you 👍
My favorite show as a kid growing up in the ‘60s, (and an intent watcher of the Apollo Missions to the Moon landings and
beyond)! Season One was my favorite. I did enjoy the comedy and over the top exploits of S2 and S3, (but they were never as good as the more serious S1 episodes)!!
Yes, very hard to appreciate the show, if you only remember the ridiculous shows in S2 and 3! There was something about that first season that made it special, (at least to me as a kid seeing it)! I can watch it now and pick apart all the scientific inaccuracies, the plot holes, and forgotten plot continuities, but it didn’t matter then! It was awesome to me then!
Entirely agree about season 1. All the episodes you mention but also War of the Robots, The Sky Pirate and the The Sky is Falling.
Enjoyable space adventure series..but my favorite has always been. .." Voyage to the bottom of the Sea.." Irwin Allen's best ..IMO
I have but one thing to say...
Moisture, moisture! Give me moisture!
I agree with you completely that series one was the most dramatic and can remember rushing home from Saturday football to watch it as a child. Sadly I lost that desire through season 3 as I became bored with the silliness and same plot thread in all the scripts. Keep up the good work as you videos provoke a lot of memories about the shows and films you feature.
Even as a kid I was so sick of Dr. Smith and his antics. I liked the more serious stories of the first season. They didn't use Guy Williams and the rest of the cast nearly enough and let the Dr. Smith character take over.
Johnathan Harris, and the interaction between "Dr. Smith, the Robot, and Will Robinson", is what made the whole series a smashing success. Over-the-top kitsch, wild characters, and a farcical plot, is what made the show so entertaining. It was refreshingly new and different, and it was Johnathan Harris who carried the whole show!
Harris was blamed as “re-writing” the whole show. Harris did re-write his own dialog, and later was redoing the dialog with the scenes with him, Will, and the robot! These were hi lights of the show! He never re-wrote the story or plots of the show! That blame fell upon the original writers, who were massively burned out! The writers loved Harris’s input, because it left less work for them!
@@Geezer-yf8hv Johnathan Harris was a great talent, and a blessing to the show. I still love to watch Lost in Space.
@@Geezer-yf8hv That last sentence of yours earned you a thumbs up!👍
I think Irwin Allen was his own worst enemy....
Irwin Allen wasn't as brilliant as he thought he was, and his ego was a big problem. I heard he was very nasty to Billy Mumy when he presented his idea to have the Robinsons finally reach their destination. Fortunately, Billy Mumy was able to release his ideas in the comic "Voyage to the Bottom of the Soul"
At least he made some brilliant cult disaster films like The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno
Totally agree!

@@Captain_Sarcastic *I heard he was very nasty to Billy Mumy when he presented his idea to have the Robinsons finally reach their destination.*
^Mumy was only a child at the time, wonder how Irwin Allen thought about him when he grew up. don't think he would've been nasty to him then!
Kurt Russell was born in Springfield, MA! Yeah!
I used to watch Lost in Space in the mid-90s on the Sci-Fi channel after I got home from school. I thought I had seen every episode.
I recently bought the box set of the show and was suprised to see the show in black and white, knowing I had never seen these episodes.
Apparently in reruns in many markets over the years tv stations would omit the first season simply because it was not in colour. Too bad since it’s the only season worth watching.
Johnny Baak always creating the most entertaining movie reviews.
Wow. There was a picture on here with William Shatner, Angela Cartwright, and Jonathan Harris all together! I wonder what event that was? I've never seen that picture before. Very interesting.
Use Google Images to get what you want.
I did not realize that there was a man(Bob May) in the "Robot" and Dick Tufeld gave the Robot a great, grating laugh!
I hadn’t seen it since the late 60’s but am now watching it on Hulu. It’s goofy enough but oddly enjoyable.
Like most, I considered season 1 the boss, but now that I'm a senior,I've learned to appreciate the whole of it. My favorite ep was the one in season 3 where Don and Smith have to deal with a tribe of computer-worshiping cave-men. Its the ep where Dr. Smith finally decided to show a little backbone, even rescuing Maj. West from certain death and aiding him in dealing with the cavemen without too much bitching.
I always enjoy your content but these two episodes were especially good. I grew up watching reruns of Lost in Space on the Sci-Fi Channel. I agree with your assessment of the series. I still love it despite the goofy stuff.
I have a memory of an episode where Guy is fighting an enemy on some kind of corridor/pathway of space/time. I have no memory of anything else about the episode, but I thought the effects for this pathway were amazing.
This is the Anti-Matter Man episode referenced in the video. One of the best from Season 3.
"Celery is as celery does" ... ridiculous works for me
I LOVED This show as Kid (Had a "Major CRUSH ON Penny = Angela Cartwright) … Just Say'n ... “🍺 Dilly Dilly”❗
Show pelo video!
Agree with you that Season 1 was the best. "the Keeper" was by far the best episode.
Love it or hate it, at least the current Netflix version tried to right the wrongs of the original series and even tries to preserve the original title music from John Williams. My only beef is that the robot is a serious departure from the friendly protector and the Smith-Robot-Will interaction that they had too much of in the original, there is too little of in the current series. Plus the fact that Dr. Smith is a complete departure from the original. Oh well, one can only dream of what could have been.
Lost in space made it to blu-ray box for the 50th anniversary and it made it to get a new lost in space TV show netflix in 2018 for three season s that was a big hit
Amo a série, assisto sempre!!!❤️🌹☺️🇧🇷
