This man is amazing. His heart is golden. Bless him and his husband. I was in foster care and later adopted. Please foster and adopt if you can.

I have been a foster parent. The state I live in is very big on reunification. Which I agree with, but it’s not always the best thing at that time. I have had my heart broken so many times. Glad you were adopted and loved. I hope you have had a wonderful life.

I'm glad he is shedding light on the well meaning social workers who want to do their job well- but the overwhelm of the amount of cases they have really does impact the quality of care. Social workers needs a lower caseload to really be able to do their job, instead of the burnt out and exhaustion they are left with.

It’s crazy because this has been discussed for many many years and it’s getting worse. My state has more children in foster care than before due to increasing drug abuse. I have fostered and it’s so hard to give them back when you know the parents are not ready.

This was a lovely segment. And yes the demand for foster parents will increase given the anti-abortion laws.

Those GQP hypocrites who took away a woman’s right to abortion should walk the talk. Go adopt in the foster system instead of judging.

So I’m a Republican, but that isn’t why I am against abortion. It’s because of my religious beliefs. I do believe it is murder. I have also fostered children. It is very hard. Children have a right to live a happy healthy life. I also work in healthcare so I see the devastation on that side too. We really need to do better reaching women to prevent pregnancies. We also need to have more facilities that help women get ready for pregnancy and having babies. I have known women who have had abortions and not one said she was happy about it. You are entitled to your opinion. I just think as a society we need to do better by women and children. Volunteerism is a good way to get involved as well. Some people have the time, but not the resources to foster.

I have heard about the foster care system for decades and there is a wide array of situations from inspirational to horrific, people abusing the system for money

Thank you so much for bringing the issues of Foster Care to the national stage. This month is National Social Workers Appreciation and it's not even given the recognition it deserves. He is right, there are so many layers in foster care for everyone involved. It is such a reactive system with political and legal considerations changing almost daily. I encourage everyone to get involved with their local agencies that deal with foster care. Become a volunteer, a mentor, a baby sitter (literally), a foster grandparent, etc. Stop trying to figure out why children are removed from a home and help them navigate their new parent(s), the System.

I suggest everyone to watch segments of Mark Laita’s “ Soft White Underbelly” CZcams segments ( “outcasts” of American society telling their stories). You’ll realize the majority grew up with irresponsible young parents and many of these homeless or young adults with some kind of addiction had bounced around to various foster care homes. It’s a part of America that we ignore or don’t know about.

His Story sounds amazing. I wonder if they are ‘open’ and were they returned to a safe situation. Do he and his partner have full time jobs? How can they take care of babies. Nobody asked him about older kids who are even more in need of parents

How can straight parents who have full time jobs take care of their children? Babies or older? What’s the difference? There isn’t any. They’re giving precious children an amazing life their inadequate parents weren’t able to do. They need to be praised not questioned

Nice opinion but they can be what ever they want to be . People should just worry about themselves. If they want to be called husband and wife so be it is no one’s business what they want to call each other.
