Heyo! I hava a hobby of fine/primitive woodworking. You can seal the bamboo without having it be hydrophobic by dipping it in shellac mixed with a solvent over and over. That way it wont swell, and it also wont become hydrophobic!
This is great! I've got slender clumping bamboo along my fence! I've used it mainly for garden projects. Made a pen/stick once [for using masking fluid], but didn't work too well. Never thought of making it like a nib! Thank you. I'll try tomorrow with some dried culms [stems]. from Sunshine Coast, Qld. Oz 👍
I began with a commercially made bamboo pen and saw that after a few hours the tip starting to round off. I guess I could try sharpening the tip ever so slightly. Thank for the video.
...never crossed my mind to clean the pen. I'm only going to use it for black ink anyway. But if I was I would just wash it with water before the ink dries on it. Especially if the ink I was using had some waterproof binding agent in it as it might 'glue' the tines shut.
Gardening stores, maybe some of your neighbours, depending on where you live in the next forest, hardware stores with a gardening section might also have some
@@Ashsibe ooohh i see, thank you. I tried screwing manually but it split into two. By the way thanks for posting your video, you've inspired me to draw some out of bamboo dip pen.
I propose making several of these pens and switching to a dry one when it has absorbed too much ink ? But how quickly does this happen is the question 😅
Wow..that pocket knife is nice..i like it.. I have 1 same like yours but the deference is a housing that knife more awesome then mine..👍🏼😋✌🏼✒️🖋️🖊️🗡️🗡️⚔️🔏🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

I love the interesting lines the initial split gave you when you applied pressure. It almost makes a 3D sort of effect. Or maybe I'm just crazy 🤔

Thanks heaps for this! Does the bamboo have to be dried before carving and using or can you use fresh bamboo?
Dried so the pen could last longer.
👏
What kind of knife is that?
Put silk threads in the pot and it won’t drip much
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I made one but from a split stick of bamboo, it works but its more of a 0.7 marker than an actual dip pen

Where Do You Get Bamboo From”?

Ware do u get that bamboo from”??
That species is phyllostachys aurea, golden bamboo, fish pole bamboo. It has dense fibers. Hope that helps.
cool video. I would maybe suggest burning the tip a bit.
Now that is a interesting idea.
Hmm, does that work with bamboo? I heard that's how they treat rattan canes.
Need an angled work surface for whst you were trying to avoid.
i am totally going to make out off wood.. thanks bruh
How did you hole the bamboo? thanks!
I clamped the bamboo in a vice and used a battery drill.

漫画は最近デジタル作画ばかりだから、逆にアナログ漫画ならこういうの使ったほうがいいのかも
6:20 lol
What if you burned the nib, maybe the fire would help seal the bamboo, idk im just chatting
Maybe you should use a fresh green bamboo or boil the nib for a couple of minutes

Or you could lacquer it? I dont know if you could do that with bamboo but thats what you're told to do when making a pen out of wood
Nah am just gonna buy one 😂
