hi thank you! i can not see the segments or the dimensions? do you know why? i am using a mac and the blender is 2.91.2 version, thanks
Hi Stephen, many thanks for this great addon. Just two quick questions if I may.
1) Regarding the two arrows at the end of a segment (3:15) that you use to add a new segment, or remove the last segment. When I click and drag (LMB) on the add segment arrow no new segment is added. The only way I can add a new segment is to alt-click the 'wall' menu button. Any idea what might be causing this?
2) After I release the LMB to create a segment, I can't pan around in my viewport so I can see the next part of my floor plans. My mouse pointer seems to be stuck in draw wall mode and any attempt to move around the viewport just adds another wall segment. Is there a trick to navigating while still actively creating walls?
FYI I am using Blender 3.1.2 and Archipack 2.40 PRO on Windows 10. Many thanks for your time. :)
Hello Stephen!
Thank you for the tutorial.
-Is there a way to choose the segment, which should be frozen? (8:18)
-is it possible to move the walls parallel? For example the highlighted wall (11:14) I would move to the right side, in order to get more space left from this wall. Can I use usual blender "g" hotkey to move the wall parallel?
-How can I move one of the walls perpendicular to the face of this wall? For example (10:59), I want to move the segment #1 along the y-axis to make more space inside the object. Including the reference. Is it possible? Could you explain how?
Thank you
Square manipulators are "selectable" so select as many as you need, then use one to move all using regular blender's constraints keys to restrict axis (xy)
Howdy, i have a question, so i can draw a wall a couple of times, but i manipulate anything how do i get back to click and dragging walls?
I have tried clicking the grid or pressing D but it seems i cant get back to drawing walls again after i change certain degree's in my walls.
any idea what i might be doing wrong?
Do not deselect the wall while drawing / manipulating.
In 2.x you may restart draw tool by holding alt and press to "wall" button again.
Purchased Yesterday the full version, I am really having troubles in manipulating with precision and drawing walls. Hope to manage with that soon, but for now not particularly happy.
Hi Filippo, downloaded latest version from e-mail ?

Hey Stephen. Just downloaded Archipack but struggling a bit to use it as hoped. Are there any more detailed tutorials online to follow and show the principles of the add on in practical examples?
My main issue:
When i am drawing out my building using the "draw wall" feature i am hitting an issue if you click off (and then lose the blue horizontal box) you cant then add another wall back into the same object. Does that make sense?
I've tried some keyboard shortcuts (A / D ) but neither of them allow me to add another wall (shown in red) to the building. Is there any way around this or does the shell of the building need to be drawn in one continuous motion? (as per selecting the number of faces to a cylinder etc.)
with wall selected, hold alt and click on the "Wall" button again to restart the tool.
@@StephenLeger Hey Stephen - I just tried this and it totally works, thank you for sending me such a quick fix, especially on a weekend!
Thanks for this tool ! Maybe you should make clear that, when starting a new wall segment, you have to click drag, but NOT starting from the white little square marking the end of the previous segment (although it is tempting to do so). Otherwise, instead of creating a new wall segment, you just move around the end of the previous segment, which is frustrating...
Another point: you have to create your (closed) wall anticlockwise if you follow the 'external line' of the wall.
THANK YOU!
how do i get the volume of the wall so i can estimate the cost of it.
Thanks for the great product again, I am using archipack pro now, is there way to convert archipack object to normal object? I am having a problem exporting the objects to other application like 3Dmax or Unreal Engine with texture. all the textures are gone after importing into 3Dmax. Any suggestion?
Archipack's objects are regular blender meshes, and materials too. There are some tools available for export in Tools tab, depending on the target app.
I'm very excited to be using this add-on.
Sadly, I'm struggling with drawing walls. I can create the first segment, then hit Enter to add a new one and I'm stuck...
Red and green axis show for a split second then disappear.

@@StephenLeger Thanks Stephen for the quick reply. I've uploaded a short screencast. Hope it explains where I'm failing...

I'm an idiot... There's no need to press Enter.
Btw , how would I continue editing, adding to a segment if I did hit enter?
@@szabinyiko in 1.2.x version you have 2 small arrows near the end of the wall to add / remove segments on screen, or number of segments in wall parameters.
The trouble I am having is knowing the distance an interior wall is from another interior or exterior wall. As in, if I want to add an interior wall to section a room. How do I know how far from the opposing wall my new wall is going to be? There are no measurements shown for that. Even in this video.
What about the roofs? They are parametric? If I change the shape of the roof, the walls will be adjusted automatically?
Roofs are parametric

and even able to handle user defined geometry

Hi Stephen, congratulation for this great add-on. Just got the Pro version which looks impressive. It's true that ergonomy requires a (little) practice before being able to draw a wall (for instance I think the Alt + click on Wall menu trick should be mentionned in the first tutorial video...) but at the end of the day the tool is very efficient. One question : is there a way to unclose a wall ?
In wall's main parameters uncheck "close".
@@StephenLeger Got it ! Thank's for your quick feed-back.
Just started testing: one thing: having a wall selected I start a new wall segment (D) or from menu but new wall segment does not inherit properties of the wall I snapped to/the one formerly created/. Think it could work like that?
There is no absolute rule for this as outside walls often are thicker than inside ones. Will stick to presets then as behavior is predictable in all cases.
@@StephenLeger ok. A few more questions: when starting a wall, cursor snaps to that pyramide-like marker ,if its nearby, a bit annoying. ; How about capability of adding/creating new presets/generally/ and multilayer walls? Think of future features, such as: detailing, quantity take offs, thermal calculation...))
@@zyzo99 You may save presets using "+" beside "XXX preset" found near top of every objects parameters panel.
Energy analysis (take a look at vi-suite), quantity and layered walls are far goals.
I love this addon... I'm having a problem though. I got the pro version and I made two walls but now can't seem to 'press and drag' to continue. I could start drawing a new wall but I want the exterior to be a single mesh if possible. Any suggestion what I might have done wrong?
edit: I can use the arrows to extend the wall in a straight line and then 'bend' it but I can't replicate what you do at 3:28.
For 2nd + segment click anywhere beside small square manipulator at end of 1st segment and keep left mouse pressed while dragging to end location. If you cancel the draw tool for any reason (blue box at bottom of screen no more visible) you may restart by holding alt while pressing to the "wall" button in create panel.
@@StephenLeger thank you for the timely reply! I've managed to create the exterior of my floor plan now. On to interior, floor, roof, etc. Thanks again for the great add-on!
i dont have any meshes for wall or anything where do i get the meshes
Sorry i don't understand what is your issue.
Hey I just purchased archipack and the walls seem to be generating below the blender grid so when I put in door it seems like they are floating. Is this a bug?
Hi, the grid level is finished inside floor altitude. So walls usually goes a bit deeper than this altitude (floor thickness)
@@StephenLeger oh okay I see. Thanks for the quick response and awesome add on.
Hello why is my sample windows on my windows menu doesn't come out . Same to my wall
Bit late, but you need to go back to your add-on in the preferences window. Open archipcack's menu and press "render presets thumbs". That loads all the parts. Takes a while so be patient.
Hi Stephen, i am a new bee of blender, i would like to ask where is the text name Arch-Viz near by Layout as i can see in your tutorial video?
Architectural vizualisation
@@StephenLeger I am quite sure he is asking where the tab came from, rather than what ARch-Viz means. But if he had watched your other videos, then he would have seen that you like to create your own layout in order to remove the additional unneeded add-ons and prefers viewport windows. LOL Oh well. Good answer anyway.
I get this really large "A" at the origin of the first wall that I create, and scissor icon at the end point. not sure why also when I type the number into the "size" that it doesn't always take, creating the proper size adjustment. What are all of these things? Something to deactivate?
The large "A" is a reference point, all objects being part of a level are child of.
Take a look at "Project structure using reference point" video for more information.
Scissors icon is the "slice/split" manipulator location, allowing to either split in two walls or add a new segment.
@@StephenLeger I didn't see those on yours

Hello Steaphen, Can we draw curved and battered wall with this pack?
Curves on xy planes are possible (using curve as input), and you may set many altitudes along single segment.
How to add new reference ? when adding new wall, it keep refers to previous reference.
deselect everything before adding a new wall
@@StephenLeger Thanks, i'm using 2.83, seems the deselect doesn't work ? i use 'select None' (to deselect everything) then add new wall and still not creating new reference. The solution is i have to select other object (non archipack object) first, then now i can create new wall with new reference.
Did anyone find a solution to the wall creation python scene_ray_cast error? It's literally driving me nuts. I have Blender 2.93

Hello. Has this add-on been tested working on a Mac?
Hi Markus,
Yes and there is currently no known issue on mac.
@@StephenLeger Thanks. Just bought it, so we'll see if I understand the concept or not :)
@@StephenLeger - actually i'm having issues in v2.8 and v2.81a - I can add a wall but that's about it. If i try to add anything else I get the black screen and search box but nothing to pick and I have to hit escape to exit. :-(
Also how do you show and hide the measurements and angles of the walls?

In top of object's parameters use "manipulate"
hitting space just brings up a menu for me, doesn't unlock. How can I change that hotkey?
In pro version, once wall (or any path based object selected) hitting space key always toggle lock, as long as "lock (on/off) hit space to lock/unlock" text is visible.
In blender 2.91 snapping is for some reason unintuitive, it does not snap to a straight lines it always goes sideways, never a straight angle, any idea why? (yes i did select vertex snapping :/)
Unfortunately this is the way blender's snap is. I'm working at CAD Transform addon as prototype for a future archipack's release.
@@StephenLeger No worries, thank you for your hard work, I purchased today a pro version, as I really like this addon! It is very useful! Thank you Stephen!
Hi how can you see the exacte distance for an inside wall you add?
It is still in the todo list.
@@StephenLeger ok will be great I think.
@@StephenLeger by the way. I saw in your 2D to 3D video that you add automatically a floor inside the walls and in your documentation i see a command floor inside wall. But I do not find this one in the version i bought yesterday ? Just floor.

Hi Stephen, how can you fillet a wall in ArchiPack? is this even possible?
Would use finishings to do so.
@@StephenLeger couldn't find how to. Will look into user's manual though. Quick tutorial about it highly-appreciatted! :-)
Sorry, but I don't understand how adding a new wall; I can add it only by one of the two white arrows beyond end of wall (not by keyboard).
Besides, I cannot close perimeter of the walls; if I click C I obtain the circle to select vertex. While I draw the wall, I don't have the blue strip on the bottom of screen (Archipack: drag a wall).
Pay attention at using the "draw" tool. If you stop that tool (right click or esc), select the wall and hold alt while pressing again on wall button in create tab.
Click and draw a wall won't work. Can only add a segment after click the little arrow. Very frustrating...
Hi, please make a complete report on github so i'm able to provide help.
By the way, are you really in "draw" mode ? (small pencil beside Wall button)
And doors too
In 1.2.8x version open addon preferences -> archipack -> press "render preset thumbs", then restart blender
just receive an python error when I go to start drawing the wall
Due to API changes... It worked for me in blender 2.83 LTS, though.
You must download and setup latest official version from blender-archipack.org
What is the meaning press Add ???
I don't know that shortcut.
I guess it is "press left mouse" to add a new segment, but hard to tell from your comment.
Stephen Leger Where is the point to start from, like to add another segment. I pushed left mouse button and nothing is happening. After pressing right button no edit at all. Do I have to use edit mode to come back or object mode. How to come back to edit arrows ?
@@rokkerband2739 Press & drag, somewhere beside the small square manipulator in end of latest segment, release to create the segment.
There is a manipulate button in archipack's objects parameters (assuming it is the free version), in pro version, manipulators show as soon as an object is selected.
Stephen Leger Thanks I’ll try...
A ripe Blackberry murmures to the wall
I hope you can come up with a more intuitive way to extend walls because this is highly frustrating. A simple pen tool, like in Sketchup, would be nice.
There are "draw tools" for walls, fences .. you may restart this tool using ALT or SHIFT and press the create button again.
1:14 Gotta love French people doing tutorials in English. Shift+R for ADD :P
Blender choose the shortcut, i guess the "D" to draw was already in use so it does fallback to 2nd letter wich is "r"
@@StephenLeger The commenter was making fun of the way you say the letter A in French. In English, the letter A sounds nothing like A in French.
@@HandyAndyG Yes, my english is quite rusted. But he better should not make fun of people who speak broken english as it means they know another language ;)
The ENTER doen't work. And the addon works underwhelmingly slow
May be related to high entity count, 5k+ like with imported dxf lines, or boolean modifier using "exact" solver.
Spent hours trying to get a basic rectangular room, and it's been very frustrating. Adding walls is way too difficult, adjusting/editing walls is also too frustrating.
And it continually bombs blender when trying to edit.
Judging by the comments here, others are experiencing the same problem. Been drawing in CAD for decades, and Archipack needs to be tweaked on the basics of wall editing.
Can you tell us the alternative?
Have you ever played the game The Sims?
Nope, there are so many other things to do, live is too short !
@@StephenLeger Haha alright. Thank you for the very good addon
Have you ever tried this one on unity ? I have simple a room and door created in archipack. when i exported to unity, there's a weird shading glitch all over the wall . imgur.com/a/WazM4e2
If i use fbx, this is an easy fix : in unity i solve it by turning on ' generate lightmap uv' . But if i use other workflow like unigltf export/import, there's no option to 'generate lightmap uv' . So i have to fix it inside blender before send it out. Do you have any idea with this ? any generic object from blender won't have this issue, only the object (wall) from archipack will have the problem. Maybe there's some setting in archipack i have to deal with before export it out ?
Lightmap like uvs are "packed" into a single uv square of 1 unit size, and not suited for walls textures. Archipack's walls uvs are unwrapped over many squares of 1 unit size, so you get those "tiling effects" when using those uvs as lightmap.
I don't know if unity / gltf exporter does support multiple uvs channels, one for texture and other one for lightmap.
Maybe it is something to fix on gltf exporter side.
Wow this is driving me crazy - when I draw the walls - or try to - after two or three segments I "lose" the function -it just drops out of it, don't know why. Bringing it back with alt+walls starts a new wall but does not allow me to continue drawing where I unwillingly left of.
And the old way with the free addon to add walls does not seem to work like that anymore - why? I can only add one wall but the function to continue adding walls and closing it off is now longer there. Why? WHY WHY WHY? It was so much easier.
Can you at least do a better tutorial please? It is so utterly frustrating and right now I regret buying the Pro version. Seeing as many people struggle with this I feel this information should be included.
It's just that you build such a nice and powerful tool and it's sad for us if we do not know how to use it. Such a waste of your work! I can see there are many functions I still have no idea of - good thing you mentioned the reference point for example. And thanks for all the good work, it's just very frustrating for me right now.
Ensure that your wall is selected before holding ALT + click on left's panel of 3d view wall button to restart the draw tool.
Any right click or click beside wall (deselect) will end the draw tool.
@@StephenLeger Thank you for answering so very fast, that works! It's an amazing tool it's just so very frustrating right now... grrr. I added walls by clicking on a wall and then drawing the new one but it's not connected to the original one - any idea what I am doing wrong? If I change any parameters of the original wall the new one will stay as it is. And thanks again for your help!
@@caram6589 You are able to "merge" 2 walls by selecting both and use the "merge" button in wall's parameters. (assuming they are touching and share the same thickness)
@@StephenLeger Awesome, thanks
I see it's waste of time. No pleasent menu. With a mesh I would do the same thing much faster.
Not even certain, once you master the process it is pretty fast, and when it comes to add finishings / change thickness - shape / automatically fit to a roof, keep opening in synch, create floors / moldings, you'll be stuck with painfull mesh editing, and not even talking about 2d export.
