This same song has been said for a few years. I'll believe it when I see it.
It's always been an option but just never happened. There's been serious talk over the years
Sagacious, this is click bait
I never thought Disney would acquire 20th Century Fox but that happened. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this does
Yea n before it was them buying Netflix haha
Yes
Please
The. Continue Star Wars legends
Restart marvel cinematic universe
Only release 3 films a year
One marvel
One Star Wars
On Disney Cartoon
Apple would have no interest in Disney theme parks, hotels, and cruise ships. All of which require heavy amounts of capital, with high variability due to seasonality effects, and razor thin margins. I’m sure Apple shareholders want to improve EPS, not dilute it. If anything, Apple’s interest would be in Disney’s IPs and/or ESPN.
If it were to happen..that’d be A LOT for Apple to own. The entire Disney umbrella between the TV channels, movie studios, theme parks, merchandise..I didn’t even include the Fox brands, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios..I’d argue that’d be a bigger merger than Discovery buying Warner Bros.
Can somebody call monopoly?
Apple would simply sell what it doesn't want, or create a subsidiary.
Its likely that Disney wouldn't sell non-entertainment sectors to Apple. Similarly to how fox didn't sell all it's brands to Disney .
Apple has $165 billion in cash on their balance sheet to spend on an acquisition. Apple is valued at almost $3 trillion, but doesn’t have enough cash to acquire Disney at a value Disney’s shareholders would agree to. Other financial means would be required in addition to cash.
there's no way "other mean" would work. Cash is the best language, other means can never be certain
These mergers never end up being good for the consumers. We need more competition, not less.
Tim Cook may just be interested in getting Pixar since what many have forgotten is that Pixar was grown/ nourished by Steve Jobs himself. What he learnt from being CEO there, he later applied to Apple when he went back and restructured the company from the ground up in the 2000s!
Just a reminder that Eisner was ousted over trying to sell Disney to Comcast, the same might happen to Iger.
Iger would be the most disgraced CEO in Disney history if he came back just to sell the company he's destroying
That disgrace would come with an obscenely massive monetary bonus if they sold. I doubt he would care and in all likelihood would present it as an achievement.
Nah, Apple and Disney sheeple would eat all of this up.
@@Dave102693 maybe Apple fans but idk, Disney fans I think would be pissed if their precious company of nostalgia and childhood memories went broke and had to be sold off to a bigger company just to survive. I could see Disney and Apple maybe partnering on streaming and entertainment content but how is Apple gonna run their parks, cruise ships, private islands, and resorts??
Not totally true Apple wouldn’t want ESPN. They have a huge deal with MLB for AppleTV+ and are apparently interested in getting into sports for a solo subscription app and even sports betting.
What I DON’T see Apple interested in is the Theme Park and Cruise business……
I doubt Apple would want to go into the theme park business.
This should NEVER be allowed. These companies are already waaay too huge.
I'm talking about creating a monopoly or making things more monopolistic - not talking about whether they cam afford it.
We need to be diversifying business not making massive all in one hubs.
Tim Cook brought out Bob Iger at the last Apple Keynote to promote Disney properties on the new Apple Vision Pro where Bob said he was excited for Apple and Disney’s future relationship 👀 They are both definitely talking about things!
All this corporate aquisitions will result in less diversification of studios and reduced quality contents for us consumers
John you've said in the past on the topic of Apple buying Disney, that Apple might not want to be interested in running theme parks and cruise lines which make over half of Disney's revenue
What about the theme parks? I don’t see Apple interested in the theme park area.
If Apple is dead serious on entertainment and keep Kevin Fiege as head of marvel, I think they could make very good movies and maybe even TV shows. Same for Star Wars and Pixar
They need to get rid of Kathleen Kennedy at least for them to make actually good movies and tv shows.
????? Why wouldnt Apple be interested in ESPN, ABC, etc etc?
I don't want to be forced to use an iPhone to use Genie Plus
Just think, everything Hulu and Disney plus now on Apple TV.
I think Apple 100 percent would be into ESPN. They’ve been trying to get into sports for years. They bought the right to air MLS, MLB fridays, and tried to get NFL Sunday ticket. They’re a big player for sports
Apple would do like Amazon did, cable sports network will be dead in 10 years, it will evolve into something else, and without big money behind it it will fizzle out
I don’t see Apple wanting to get into the theme park, resort hospitality and cruise line business and having all the “Cast Members” on the payroll. Disney is NOT just a studio with a repository of beloved IP. It’s a different beast all together.
Besides, Tim Cook is just a steward of Apple and Steve Jobs legacy. He’s not a creator.
Just because you can do something like buy a Disney, doesn’t mean you should.
Apple would surely want ESPN because they’re really struggling with sport in Apple TV+. They’ve been heavily promoting their MLB exclusivity. Why wouldn’t they want more?
Damn I knew Apple was huge but 2.79 Trillion? Dayum.😮
Not this again….of course not. Disney is the last of the major filmmaking studios that has its origins in film alone. Bobby Iger wouldn’t tarnish his or it’s legacy by making it another infinity stone in someone else’s gauntlet.
That’s what I am saying not this again
It’s actually Bob Iger wanting to do the selling.
Tarnish? In the current state of Disney, he’s probably save it. And there’s no reason to assume Disney would be less Disney if it were under Apple
@@PinocchioDreadit’ll be like CN; just a brand name for only
I can see why Disney would 100% want to be bought. I don't see the value for apple in buying it. Nothing about apple says they want to run a park or a fleet of ships...
If this means the mcu and starwars shows get apple tv quality. Im in
Yes, but I don’t think Apple wants to invest in parks
Or hotels and cruises
14:23 also… Bob is wanting to find a new CEO for Disney. Tim Cook isn’t a bad new CEO 😂
I can see Apple buying Disney movie/tv show divisions AND the sports divisions. They just acquired a huge stake in MLS and are pouring money into making football a hugely popupar sport in the US. And they are, as said in the vid, dead serious in making their entertaintment brand a household name. Personally I would love to see a starwars movie or a marvel movie at the hands of apple studios with good directors. Just as an example, the upcoming Napoleon movie from Ridley Scott is looking AMAZING!
I feel like Apple would be more interested in buying some of the things Disney owns from them like Marvel or Star Wars but I’m not so sure they’d wanna buy the core company of Disney
The CEO of Disney even mentioned selling parts of Disney, but made no mentions of outright getting bought out completely.
Does that mean Apple TV+/Disney+/Hulu might all just combine?
I rather disney just crash and fail
More monopolies, yeah that’s what the country needs.
Apple buys ESPN from Disney and they negotiate a D+ and Hulu bundle with Apple TV. Disney continues to be an independent studio with a focus on creative IP, parks, and toys; Apple TV becomes a must have bundle with kids IP, sports, and shows/movies.
"Apple is not interested in sports"
Apple spent a 1 billion for an MLS package
Apple spent a billion for an MLB package
Apple tried to buy the rights the NFL Ticket
Apple offered a bunch of money to the PAC 12 for college football games.
Exactly I don't know what this guy is talking about
One thing I don't agree: "Apple wouldn't be interested in sports." Yes they would. Apple TV+ is the broadcaster of MLS and they have a deal with MLB. Sure they'd be interested in more sports.
What they wouldn't be interested in is parks and hotels and cruises IMO. Also Apple traditionally isn't that much interested in acquiring large companies. Their biggest purchase (name recognition-wise) was what? Beats?
Rumour right is they’re bidding for EPL rights and in talks with bundesliga. Don’t forget nba has a new TV deal coming up in 2025 maybe Apple will get involved.
Fits in nicely with your Streaming Service Combo video yesterday lol
Imagine, Disney + and exclusive content will be on your apple products. Get Disney + free if you use apple credit card. You can use your iPhone to access parks and rides and get discounts if you buy apple products. Apple can place ads for their shows and movies on your iPhone and Mac. iTunes will be your kids go to for music. The possibilities are endless. They could possibly double that number especially now that India and African countries are looking to boost apples sales in the coming years.
It makes sense that they will buy Disney because they need the content to drive sales for the Apple Vision when it comes out next year. Imagine watching an Apple Vision optimized version of Star Wars, or the latest Marvel movies. Already bundled with your Apple TV+ subscription.
Apple buys Disney and then releases an apple product targeted at kids and teens under the disney brand. That actually makes sense. Separate the brand from apple as the kids brand. I could see it.
Disney is not interested in selling ESPN. Apple has started getting into sports. They have MLB and MLS media deals and they tried to get the PAC media deal. They're green in that area, but they have an appetite for it.
C A L M - D O W N , How do the theme parks fit in???
Wouldn’t apple want to keep espn for there AR since that ad showed some promising things with the court view
Just because Apple doesn't want theme parks, cruise ships, and sports networks doesn't mean they really care. They can just let those divisions do their thing, without getting involved in their operations. As long as they're making money, there's no problem.
Steve Jobs at one point was majority owner of Pixar :)
No, that’s enough of big companies buying other companies. It never, ever, ever works in the favor of the consumer.
Disney and Apple are already in a tight knit working relationship. Look at the Apple Watch faces that include Mickey and Minnie, and the Toy Story Pixar characters. Look at the deep history of Steve Jobs with Pixar. I, like others, think that Apple WOULD like the ESPN offerings, since live sports is the only needle that perpetuates subscriptions anymore. And the catalog of IP and movies would in turn cause people to now subscribe to AppleTV+ and potentially sell more set top Apple TV products. I'm more surprised Apple hasn't done it already.
Right
I was thinking the same thing. Apple is already into live sports with Apple tv+ so I thought they would like the ESPN offering as well.
just the poetic license of apple buying back PIXAR makes this a multi-layered opportunity…
and of course it makes sense…
as well as Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Animation & Disney Live Action… there’s also AVATAR, The Muppets, The Simpsons, Alien, Planet of the Apes, National Geographic + all the Oscar-winning films from Touchstone / 20th Century Studios & Searchlight
iPhones with Star Wars and marvel printed on them instead of just colours I’m here for it! 😂
I’d rather see them acquire Nintendo and illumination
Nintendo won't sell and neither Illumination seeing its making money for Universal
Seeing Marvel and Star Wars in the hands of Apple would literally break my heart. There is no company more scummy, more aggressively anti-consumer, more insidiously wasteful and corrupt. I refuse to do business with them in any capacity. I refuse to sign up for Apple TV +. I will not be watching their movies, and if they end up owning Star Wars and Marvel, my decades long love affair with those properties will end. I pray to all the gods, the old and the new, that this travesty does not happen.
You should do that anyways and go outside and get some type of a life. What does apple do? they make phones and laptops that no one is forcing you to buy, You can spend the rest of your life living just fine never having to touch a apple product. The fact you let a company dictate your life really shows what kind of a loser you are. Go outside and get a personality
@brucewaynenotbatman What precisely do you think you accomplished with that dismissive, reductive, needlessly rude tripe?
Aren’t Apple actively looking at sports deals for Apple TV? I agree with everything except I think they wouldn’t necessarily be interested in the theme parks. Sports they would still be interested in.
If Comcast could buy NBC Universal, AT&T could buy WB and Amazon could buy MGM than Apple buying Disney wouldn't be a problem.
I would like to have Disney +, Apple TV+ and Hulu in one streaming service.
@@UsiQuotidiani.18 At that point it should all just be under the Apple TV+ app with different sections for Disney, Marvel, LucasFilm and Hulu.
I always thought Apple buying Sony would make more sense. Think about it. Cause unlike Apple, which is mostly a tech company. Sony is both a tech and film company. Plus, Apple has their own streaming service, Sony doesn’t, so if they bought Sony, Sony’s film library will end up on Apple TV+. Sony also owns PlayStation. So, imagine we could play PlayStation games on Apple products, such as iPhones, iPads etc. and both company could mix or share tech products together.
the japanese government would not let that happen lol
@@David-qy4kc That's true! LOL Not saying it couldn't happen but the government and the Japanese populace would most definitely be up in arms about it!
@@nelsonc6173 i think they're on a list that prevents them from getting bought out from foreigners
It's funny John in another video just talked about fans speculating Emma Stone being Gwen Stacy again and he is doing exactly the same here.
I hope this doesn’t happen.
Me too
why not?
Even if Apple was interested in Disney’s IP, do you really think that they would want to get into theme parks, resorts, and a fleet of cruise ships? Something tells me no. Not to mention that Disney fans that are shareholders would most likely immediately sell the stock as protest to the move. Disney fans are fans of the stories, the company, the parks, etc. but barely any would EVER want to see Disney run by a tech company
They would as ,long as Apple could create a subscription
Apple has Disney money in their sofa cushions. Cash.
disney comes with so much baggage that i dont see Apple buying them. Do you see Apple in the theme parks and Toys business?
IPHONE 30 with Free Disney + and park tickets
that is just brilliant. buy a phone from us and go to Orlando and California anytime.
There's no way they will let that deal go down....no fucking shot....
I really don't know if it's true, but in some ways, it would be funny. Many of them have so much history together.
In 1986, Apple founder Steve Jobs bought the Graphics Group of the Lucasfilm computer division and turned it into Pixar.
In 2006, Disney bought Pixar and Steve Jobs became a majority Shareholder at Disney.
In 2012, Disney bought Lucasfilm, reuniting it with a part of its former computer division, the rest of which has turned into part of Lucasfilm's ILM which Disney also owns now.
If Apple buys Disney, they'll get everything Steve Jobs sold or acquired as far as the movie industry goes.
Never sell anything to Steve Jobs, or Pixar will get you! Literally! 😉
Steve Jobs is not part of Apple anymore. Since his death, there's been a huge culture change focusing more on financial growth than innovation
Yeah I'm down for Disney so hopefully it's a bigger acquisition than the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard it's better for us anyway
lol Apple revenue from iphones alone were 200billion+ in 2022.
Disney is going to sell as Apple as much as Nintendo is selling to Sony. It is just not happening.
Disney and Apple are best friends
Just the way Apple brought Beats by Dre from Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine for a billion. It’s no problem.
LOL...this would be a MUCH MUCH BIGGER TRANSACTION THAN BUYING A HEADPHONE COMPANY. The two aren't even comparable. LOL
2:34 Talk about a flex!🤣🤣🤣
I believe it's a 50-50 chance for both things to happen, I think he's going to come down to the outcome of the strike. There is absolutely no denying that Apple would be interested in buying the media section of Disney, they would be crazy not to be interested
It makes a lot of sense to buy Disney. Lots of bundle opportunities. And it seems apple is more into quality than Disney these days and that could help Disneys product get better while having the larger name behind it than apple has in terms of filmmaking.
I wonder what would be different if the MCU and Star Wars is under Apple...
Ted Lasso Attraction coming soon to Disneyland? 😮😃
at this point? Fuck it, buy whatever the fuck they want.
I think it would make more sense for Microsoft to do it. They could bundle Disney+ with XBox's and Game Pass. They would be able to make video games based on Marvel/Disney/Star Wars/Fox properties.
And Microsoft has properties that would be good for films. James Cameron Halo film, anyone?
7:53 Apple has tried to bid on things like MGM specifically for Stargate, and rumors they tried to bid on a reboot Babylon 5. They clearly are looking for a tint pole SciFi brand. So yeah I can see this
"Apple has no interest in sports."
Apple TV: Exclusive streamer for MLS
@johncampea, great video! I have a small suggestion with your explanation of market capitalization. Market capitalization is the perceived value of a company, calculated by multiplying the current stock price by the number of available stocks in the market. While Apple can leverage its position and raise funds based on current market values, there are many other factors to consider when buying or selling another company, even if it is “15 times and over.”
Considering how bad their IP has gone this year, it would be a bad idea to sell ABC and Hulu.
I hope not!
free disney plus if you purchase iphone or ipad
SEC would stop it. Not from an entertainment industry perspective, but from a mobile os perspective.
Rather than looking at the value, I would prefer looking at balance. The debt is major.
On the streaming market side that would create a monopoly.
God I hope not.
Apple just tried to get the PAC-12 before the PAC-12 collapsed literally overnight. They also have deals with MLS and MLB.
Tim Cook is a Trek fan
Paramount would be a better option.
More likely to happened than the rumor of universal buying WBD just because apple is not in debt like universal is at the moment
If Apple buys Disney, the Pixar magic returns because John Lassiter comes back!
Apple doesn’t want espn? Are you sure? They tried to make a streaming deal with the pac 12 before the conference broke up. Apple knows fans will pay to watch their teams.
Yeah they absolutely would want ESPN
It would NEVER happen, but I’d love to see Marvel and Lucasfilm return to being independent.
They would move with Disney though
I think it is a bad business for apple Disney need to do a clean house first.
I feel like disney has squeezed all they can from marvel & star wars and its time to sell. With apples budget they can pump some into Marvel and Star wars and get it back on track
Marvel and Lucasfilm are only fractions, of the Disney empire. Their parks and cruises generate significantly more revenue, than Disney's film divisions combined (and always have). Besides, Lucasfilm and Marvel still get sky high budgets from Disney anyway.
I disagree with Apple not wanting ESPN, Apple did offer a deal to the PAC12 now 4 to bring College Football to Apple TV so why wouldn't they want to bring in ESPN which has all those sports.
Apple essentially gave the pac12 an affiliate code. They saw an opportunity to get something cheap and only really pay if it drove massive subscriptions. I doubt they were genuinely interested, otherwise would have gone in on other conferences.
Very Emperor moment @7:46 😂
I won't be surprised if Apple purchases Disney and the moves Iger is making can make that assumption to that strategy, but I feel whether an acquisition happens or not, it makes best sense to cut ABC, ESPN, and DTV as they are tied to a dying industry. Cable television has been losing market share to streaming since before the pandemic. When Disney already has a streaming platform to support, those cable entities are more valuable to other companies than would be to Disney.
Then NextStar can but those divisions and run them into the ground just like they are doing with The CW right now.
I’m loving it how mainstream media is imploding on itself.
I could see that happening. Disney could bring lots of value for Apple in the long term.
Lol what? Disney could bring lots of value for Apple? 😂
Do you know how much Apple actually worth? Apple is literally worth 15x more than Disney lmao
A company which keeps failing at gaining market success on streaming buying another compay struggling at cracking the same problem doesn't sound like a smart idea.
They're both doing fine in streaming, just because they're not Netflix doesn't mean they're failing, they're the only 2 services with big pop culture event shows right now (not counting Max because House of the Dragon is more of a cable show) in things like Ted Lasso and the Mandalorian.
That's minuscule for the makret they're in. @@RichardBarclay
It terms of sports I could see Apple being interested in that. They already have the MLS and Friday Night Baseball. And they just acquired the PAC -12 I’m pretty sure too
This is like Universal is interested in buy WB and DC. That should help Peacock with subscribers. Twisted Metal and Super Mario are already doing that.
Universal is in debt so I doubt they have the money or even want to take on the debt of WBD
Why Apple would not want ESPN? They have exclusive rights for MLS. They are very interested in sport.
Tim Cook is very careful with what Apple buys and there is no way he would buy Apple, no chance. On the other hand they could make a deal to acquire content from Disney, I can see that happening.
Apple's Billion Dollar "investment" in Theatrical Release Movies = 5 or 6 movies tops...if you count Marketing/Ad costs etc. Three of those would have to be box office home runs or Apple will have blown the Billion.
