Atlanta Airport - Delta check-in and walkthrough, flight from Atlanta to Denver

- Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport boasts being the main hub for Delta Airlines. Due to the significant presence of this airline, particularly for domestic flights, one entire side of the domestic terminal is dedicated to Delta customers. This video is a walkthrough of checking in for a domestic Delta flight from Atlanta to Denver and getting to the gate.

I came back here to say this: I was so nervous about taking my first flight. I watched this video as I was flying Delta out of Atlanta airport. I literally wrote down step by step everything you did, and I navigated with no problem at all! The flight was amazing, and your video helped me more than you could no. A million thank yous!!
Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you had a good trip and that the video was helpful.
I was nervous about flying too. My mom (who is dead now) and I flew down to Orlando to help my sister move up to Atlanta, and when I got on the plane, I was tense and nervous
Even though I have flown before, I’m taking my first alone(😬) flight and kinda forgot the steps !! Thank you so much for this video !!
I gotta say, this video has calmed my nerves ten fold! I have never flown before and am going on my first trip on Saturday. I'm not really nervous about the actual flight as opposed to just getting there on time and at my gate. My flight is at 8 in the morning so I'm going to have to be up early. I was wondering though, when I first go in, I don't have to meet with an actual person to check in right? I just go to the kiosk or use my phone to check in, and then print the boarding pass at the kiosk? Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Loved the video and subscribed!
I'm glad the video was helpful. As far as checking in, if you only have carry-on luggage you don't have to speak with anyone. Just check in at the kiosk, print your boarding pass and head to security. If you have a checked bag you do have to interact with an agent to drop of your checked bag. With Delta, you actually don't have to check in at the kiosk or print a boarding pass if you have the Delta app and only have a carry-on. You can check in via the Delta app and it generates an electronic boarding pass with a QR code on it to scan when boarding. If you fall into the category you just check in via the app and head straight to the TSA security checkpoint with your carry-on.
Thanks for the comment and the sub!
I love to hear that this calmed you! (My son and) I have been through the ATL airport a myriad times but in a few days, he will have to navigate the airport alone from our layover gate to baggage claim alone, as I will be continuing home and he will be staying & meeting his grandfather at baggage claim - esp since my layover is so short, I won’t have time to walk him there.
I figured that since he’s always watching CZcams and TikTok and what not, I’d see if I could find an “ATL walk through” in addition to the actual map, because as I’ve told him -- it’s all good now but wait til you’re by yourself without mom navigating the train and a massive airport, lol.
I have faith though…. And FaceTime, hahahahah. But thanks, OP… great video.
I've flown before. As a matter of fact, I flew down to Orlando, and when I boarded the plane, I was tense and nervous
You carefully show & explain the important stuff for newbies . Thank you
Thanks for the comment. I just remember my first flight, I was uncertain and nervous about what to do. Hopefully some of my videos will alleviate those feelings in others.
this video is so helpful! i'll be taking my first solo flight(carry-on only) with a 45 minute connection in atlanta and this makes me feel so much more comfortable with how to get around, thank you!!
Flying by myself to Montana this summer. Thank you for this video, it calmed my nerves!
I’m glad you found it helpful. That’s the main reason that I like to do these videos is to help people who may not have flown before or haven’t flown out of a particular airport. I remember my first time flying and I had no idea what to expect. I hope you have a good trip!
I do appreciate this video! My first time flying from Atlanta and I’m pretty anxious.
Thank you so much 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it. ATL is straightforward and logically laid out so you shouldn't have any problem. Thanks for the comment!

Oh WOW! So glad I found this video for my daughter! She's coming out tomorrow with her husband and kids and this video will make them feel so much better about the check in process and where to go! THANK YOU!
I’m so glad I watched your video before my flight yesterday. I was hesitant at first because of the size of the airport, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment and view! I hope it made your trip a little easier!
Thank you so much for this video! I've flown alone before, but never out of Atlanta, so this is insanely helpful!
I’m flying alone tomorrow for my first time! This calmed me down sooo much. Reading the comments is cool too. I’m glad I’m not the only nervous one☺️
Glad it helped, have a great trip!
I need to fly in Atlanta as a connection, and I decided to look it up after hearing how complicated it is. I am half blind and can't see too well unless I bring $1,100ish worth of corrective equipment (which I am not risking bringing on a trip) and watched this to see how simple/complex the journey would be. This video has inspired me to, for the first time ever, actually request that "assistance getting through the airport" they have for persons with low vision.
Thanks for the wonderful comment. It really pleases me that the content of one of my videos was considered inspiring and helped to facilitate travel for someone. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
I remember watching your videos for the first time back in 2020 I was going on a trip and have never flown before ,I went to the airport by myself and I did amazing all because of you.. it was surreal your video helped me navigate through hartsfield like a pro ..I flew 3 times since then and I’m not gonna lie I actually miss the airport it’s a good feeling being able to fly ..knowing that you’re going on some type of vacation ! Thanks again !
Thanks for the comment. It makes me feel good that it was able to help someone and ignite a spark for traveling in someone!
The last time I flew to Arizona I was with people who fly all the time. The time before that was over 25 years ago. We always Travel by car. However, This time I fly alone.🥺 This video has calmed my nerves on how to get to my Delta gate. Thank you so much!!!!!
I’m glad you found it useful. First time fliers or experienced fliers who are at ATL for their first time can be a little intimidated. That’s why I make these videos to show what it’s really like from the door to the airplane at ATL (and how simple it is).
I flew out of Atlanta a few weeks ago and will have to fly out again in two weeks. I'm watching a few walkthroughs to ensure I don't get lost again, though now it seems a little bit more straightforward. I think I got lost last time because I had to go to the bathroom and wasn't sure which way to go after going through the main checkpoint. Thank you for the upload!
Thanks for the comment and I’m glad my video was somewhat helpful.
I flew from Atlanta to Orlando in 1994
thank you for this video! flying alone next week and i’m sooo nervous. i have a layover in atl (only an hour) and was scared i’d miss my gate because of how big the airport is, but this video and researching the map helps! it’s very calming to know that all delta flights are in the same area so i just have to get off my plane from ny and find the gate i have to go to :)
Glad it was helpful. I have several other videos about maneuvering around inside ATL, feel free to check them out.
Taking my first flight in 2024 over 20 years. Leaving ATL to Detroit. Nervous as first time. I searched and found this video. Thanks for blessing me. I feel at ease now. Thank you.
Thanks for the view and the past comment. If you’ll check out my channel, I actually have multiple videos similar to this one about checking in and departing from Atlanta airport.
This was helpful and amazing video. It’s my first time flying but this made it so easy. Thank you
Thanks for the positive comment, I'm glad you found the video helpful!
This was a big help! Generally I "connect" through ATL but have never checked in from the (outside into airport). Thxs again ✈🌸

I have a flight arriving at ATL at 5:43 domestic then need to hoop on a connecting flight international at terminal F! Is 1 hour enough time to go from domestic terminal to the last terminal aka F (International) ?
@@WFF1191 An hour should be enough time to get to terminal F. Just catch the Plane Train going towards Concourse F. It’s very fast. Check the airport website for the airport layout or any other information you may need. Safe Travels!

@@sharkheadism Encountered the filthiest airport restroom I have ever seen in my life. Also realized that with as busy as ATL is, if had not had Global Entry when re-entering the country, I would have missed my connection. Otherwise it was okay, nothing special.

I love flying seeing it take off the terrains ITS AMAZINGGG
I feel the same way!
I had a layover in Atlanta last year. I had no idea how huge Atlanta airport would be. I literally arrived at 8:51 am and would be boarding at 9am. Getting off the first plane and trying to find my way around to get from one concourse to the next was soooo scary. I still don't know how I managed but I did. Running though the area to find the escalator then the train was scary but I did it. Got there just in time to board too. The airport staff was great too! Thanks for uploading this excellent video!
Thanks for the view and comment!
Atlanta Airport is way bigger than Tampa International Airport
Thank you, this really takes the stress off of the fact that this is my first time flying alone with only my younger sibling and I’m gonna have to be the one leading and being reliable for him only after flying so many times. 🙃🙃

Thank you so much this video helpful for us
This looks like one heck of a journey. I'm so nervous just about navigating through the airport .
It IS intimidating at ATL but once you’ve done it you’ll realize that it was very straight forward and simple. The overhead signs tell you everything you need to know to get to where you are going.
I’m truly nervous, it’s gonna be my second time in an airplane ( but first time flying alone) I like how you showed every bit of the airport, it’s really helpful for me, thank you! I’ll be back to tell you how I did 😅😅
I hope you have a great trip with no stress!

Super anxious for my first flight this Thurs.
Super helpful! Thanks
Thanks for the comment!
I have a connecting flight from Atlanta to Little Rock conveniently tomorrow so this video helps me out a bit (mainly because this is gonna be my first flight lmaoo)
Connecting through Atlanta is super easy (if its all with the same airline and same reservation). In that case you are really only traveling from one gate to another without having to deal with security or checking in. If your arrival gate and the gate you are departing from on your second flight are located in the same concourse its just a matter of walking a short distance. If they are in different Concourses then just just ride the plane train to the appropriate concourse and find the gate. I hope you have a good trip!
All I wanna say is thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you liked the video!
Flying for the first time in my life in a couple weeks and I will be alone. My connecting flight will be ATL from Little Rock. Thank you for this video has helped calm a few nerves though I am still nervous.
Don’t worry, connecting flights are super easy if it’s with the same airline. You just travel from one gate to the next and any checked baggage is “checked through” (transferred) to your final destination .
@@bozy106 Thanks for that info, all my flights will be with Delta.

I have a flight from Atlanta to Chicago in a few days (I live in Chicago) so I am a little worried about getting through the airport as I am a minor traveling alone through Delta Airlines. This video really helped :)
I’m glad the video helped. I hope you have a good trip. Atlanta airport, while big, is logically laid out.
@@bozy106 Hi I just have one question. Delta Airlines allows 2 carry-ons right, one small suitcase and a small bag such as a backpack?
@@snigdha2026 correct. They actually call it a carry-on and a “personal item” such as a backpack. The general rule for the size the personal item is that it has to fit under the seat in front of you. The carry-on (small suitcase) has to go in the storage bins overhead.
I have never flown by myself and even at 21 and tens of flights it gave me terrible anxiety. after watching this I feel like I can do it !
I’m glad it eased your anxiety a little. Have a great trip!
my first ever flight is this friday and i’m so nervous!! i’ve watched this video at least five times and i’m so scared i’ll get lost
No need to be scared. If you watch the video again pay particular attention to the overhead signs. All major airports, ATL included, have excellent directional signs that help first timers or people who have never been to a particular airport before. If you check out my other video from January 2021 called “Walk-through from TSA security at ATL international terminal to Concourse E using the plane train” the first minute or so is spent talking about the general layout of the terminal and gates at ATL. If your flight is domestic (solely inside the US) the rest or the video won’t apply to you but the first minute has a useful diagram you can use to get an idea of the layout. Thanks for the comment and I hope you have a good trip!

I worked at ATL airport for 22 months at the TSA. The airport can seem confusing but it's very straight forward. I'm sure you had a great first experience flying. ATL is actually one of my favorite airports in the US. The airport is more interesting if you walk between the terminals, it's a walking history of Atlanta.
@@bozy106 thank u
@@bozy106 what was it like going through TSA ?
Great video! I’m traveling alone and was kinda nervous this made me feel 100% better. Question, if I check in from my phone I don’t have to check in once I arrive there?
Correct, unless you are checking bags and need to print the luggage tags.
One time in august I was headed to Philadelphia from Atlanta and the plane train was so crowded we had to walk. From T Gates all the way to E gates..longest walk I’d take in a lifetime 😭
It is quite a walk however at least there are the moving sidewalks that can make it a little easier. But it IS still quite a distance.
Thank you so much for these videos ❤ they made my first flying experience last year easy. Im watching them again for my flight on Sunday. Can please explain where i can meet with friends in Airport ? Thank you 😊
This video - czcams.com/video/dMWBZj8h9Ps/video.html will show a great deal of the area outside of security where people can come meet you. There are various restaurants in this area as well.
Why did your eboarding pass states that your flight is at Gate A31 but you went to A10? Did it change or something? Thats the only thing that confused me in this video. Other than that I learned and enjoyed a lot throughout. Thanks!
Yes, it did change. The screenshot of the eboarding pass was made about 12 or more hours before we arrived at the airport. I am not sure that I have ever had a Delta flight that didn’t change gates at least once after I checked in online. Thanks for the comment and the view!

So happy this video exists; another nervous Atlanta airport person here and this helps. You’ll be fine. It’s really as straightforward as the videos show. I have a few Denver airport videos too. Check them out!
Nice video. Only thing wrong was aircraft Id. That was a Boeing 737 900. The 727 has three engines and are not very common anymore.
Yeah, I didn’t realize that my fat fingers had typed that until someone else pointed it out. Maybe I need to fire my proofreader (…oh wait, that’s me). Unfortunately I’ve never had the opportunity to fly on a 727.
Did you have to get a Covid test done or those just International flights?
Only for some outgoing international flights. Currently (as of June 26 2021) a COVID test is required to re-enter the United States. That being said, you may travel domestically inside the United States by commercial airline without any COVID testing.
first time flying alone and i’m going from atlanta to dc on delta. one question though, how do you know who to talk to in order to drop off checked bags? i just want to be sure that i’m not messing up anything or losing my bags
Just find the counter for the airline you are flying with. That will be where you drop them. They will be plenty of people there - just watch, listen and imitate. In this. Idea I flew with Delta, but check out this video to see the other counters if you’re not flying with Delta - czcams.com/video/dMWBZj8h9Ps/video.html
Had a connecting flight to YYZ with Delta here yesterday. I was misinformed at my arrival gate about whether I need to go to baggage claim before I board my next flight. I waited at the domestic carousel for over an hour for nothing and had to go through TSA again. All things considered I was able to make the gate for my next flight. You'll need at least 3 hours if you want to connect at this airport without fuss and any surprises
Idk what the other terminals are like, but concourse D is in dire need of remodeling. The ventilation seems pretty poor for an airport that's this busy. Charger ports in the waiting chairs don't work and the water fountains are busted
Concourse D is actually in the process of being remodeled and roughly half of the gates are closed/blocked off. Check out the video I just published today to see a walkthrough of the complete concourse along with info on what’s being redone and widened.
Concourse D is the narrowest of all at ATL. The others are in fairly decent shape.

Cool!)
Good videos.I searched this airport for videos and came across your channel.I have a flight from Tampa to madrid in December. How is the transfer from domestic to international terminals ? How much time do I need to connect ? Thanks.Hope you can answer this.
Well, if you are flying from Tampa to Madrid with a connection in ATL, the connection is very simple (as long as it is through a single airline/reservation and your bags will be checked through to Madrid). Once you land from your Tampa - Atlanta leg, you should just be able to board the Plane Train and go directly to Concourse F (or Concourse E) from whatever concourse you land at. Some international flights leave from Concourse E and some from Concourse F. This is possible because if your bags are "checked through" to Madrid, you will not have to exit the secure part (airside) of the airport and will not have to go through TSA Security again.
Check out my videos on transferring from Concourse to Concourse.

So I saw you came in the airport doors a different way I remember, so is there always going to the the boarding passes machines? how all does that work? I fly may 29 alone to Fl
Like where did you walk in at? I know Delta is south terminal correct?
Delta is indeed in the South Terminal and all other domestic airlines in the North Terminal with their respective kiosks in their respective terminals. The beauty of ATL is that no matter which side you walk into (north or south) you are just a few steps away from easily getting to the other side. This is because even though they sound like separate structures, it is really just different sides of one big building. In my ATL baggage claim video which can be found here czcams.com/video/Eug9H1EKZrs/video.html you will see that I collect my baggage from the South Terminal baggage claim and walk across to exit out of the North Terminal. This begins around the 12 minute mark on the video. You will see how connected the two terminals are. If you accidentally walk in on the wrong side and your airline is on the other side, at most it has only added maybe 2 minutes onto your walk.
@@bozy106 thank you! the video helped a lot!
In case you get confused, there are signs in the north terminal that show you how to get to the south terminal
Hey Atlanta!!!
On your way to the main check point for TSA you passed 1st class priority is that the TSA for First Class? my friend bought me a first class ticket to come see her and this is my first time flying so I'm trying to figure out as much before hand.
Quite honestly I’m not sure - I generally fly economy. I do see what your are referring to. The only time I’ve been through that area was when they randomly pulled me and about 25 other out of the Main Security line to go through that area. There were Clear kiosks as well as about 2 or 3 TSA lanes. It appears that the entrance is manned by an airport employee so it wouldn’t hurt to try it - the worst they can say is “No”. Hope you have a great flight. Drop a comment after your trip and let me know if your first class ticket allows you to use that entrance….
@@bozy106 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I'll be sure to reply back and let you know what I find out after my flight (:
Can u PAY for a checked bag at the kiosk ? Or do you have to go to the Delta ticket counter?
Yes, but you’ll still have to go to the counter to drop off the bag.
Hi I’m a teen traveling to Michigan by myself Monday any tips ? Kinda nervous (and it’s my first flight)
Tips for ATL:
1. Get to the airport about 2 hours early (perhaps a little earlier Monday because ATL is expected to be a little busier during this Spring Break).
2. Be aware that if it says that your flight is at a particular time, that the flight actually begins boarding around 30 minutes before this time and aims to take off at the listed time. If you get to the gate right at the flight time, its almost certain the plane doors are closed and the plane has already left the gate.
3. Just watch the people in front of you are doing, particular going into TSA security. The TSA officers will be giving directions but watching others who are ahead of you will give you an idea of how to do it.
4. Check with the TSA website about the 3-1-1 liquid rule at www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/liquids-rule so you know what liquids can be in your carry-on luggage that you carry through the TSA checkpoint. There are plenty of places on the other side of security to purchase a bottled drink so don’t worry about flying thirsty.
5. Most importantly, PAY ATTENTION TO THE OVERHEAD SIGNS, because they are the most helpful directional aids you will have.
6. Don’t be scared of the Plane Train between concourses. It doesn’t leave the airport but just runs between the concourses and it has nice loud announcements about where it is and where its going.
Hey so I want to have a digital boarding pass. So I can check in on the app but then can I still check in on the kiosk? To get the luggage ticket?
Yes you can, in fact that’s what I do with each Delta flight I take. That’s for the view, have a great trip!
This was so helpful. So glad I found it..I’m flying delta from atl to Orlando in 2weeks..can you give me a brief detail of parking? Is there parking close to the delta side?
Yes, there are parking options (on airport property) that are close to the South Terminal which is where Delta operates. These lots are the South Hourly, South Daily, and South Economy lots. Of course the cheapest option is the economy lot. The ATL airport's website list the parking rates, lot status, and lot maps that are updated in every few minutes. The airport's parking website is apps.atl.com/Passenger/Parking/Default.aspx
I would also consider off-site parking such as TheParkingSpot or WallyPark. They will pull you and your luggage right up to the terminal door so you don't have to lug it across a parking lot. I've done a video on how to use TheParkingSpot off-site parking. It's a bit cheaper than on-site parking if you are trying to save some money.
@@bozy106 YOU’RE AWESOME!! thanks so much
When I had a connection thru KATL in Aug 2018, I found a shop that sold Pepsi products.
I was constantly looking over my shoulders for TSA/Homeland Security in case I was being set up...😄😇
You are lucky you made it out alive considering you broke the Coca-Cola code of conduct in Atlanta! Thanks for the comment!
Wait, that's illegal
No one in Atlanta cares if you drink Pepsi or anything else. I prefer Cherry Coke myself.
I'm confused about the checked luggage tags on your carry on size bags?
On this particular short trip I didn’t feel like lugging around a full sized suitcase so I took a carry-on as my checked bag. My Delta credit card allows me to have a free checked bag for each person on my reservation. I didn’t want to drag it through the plane and heft it up into the overhead compartment so I just checked it.
@@bozy106 nice! Thank you!
I always do the checkpoint on the far left
Wow someone just sent me this video & screen recorded me being in it lol that’s when I was working for Clear
I want to thank you for your time working at ATL (regardless of what you did) because you did your part to help make ATL a great airport to travel through!
Does Atlanta delta have helpers for old people to take them to their gates? Or no?
If a traveler is in a medical state or elderly and unable to make the walk, I would suggest using the wheelchair assist. In order to arrange for this you must contact the airline that you are flying with and they can help arrange it for you.
I’m flying to Boston for the first time and I’m so nervous I don’t know what to do! Is there always someone that can help people?
There are many workers there everywhere who will gladly point you in the right direction. Fellow travelers at ATL are generally helpful too. That “Southern Hospitality” is real. I’ve seen in other videos that women or couples traveling with children are often considered to be “safe” and “trustworthy” with regards to asking advice. Also check out some of my other ATL videos, I have several about ATL airport. I hope you have a good trip.
@@bozy106 thank you so much for your advice 🙏🏽
Thanks I hope I do!😊
I have a connecting flight from s terminal to I terminal. I wonder how long it would take??
If you don't have to claim and re-check your bags it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Typically if you are flying into ATL on a domestic flight that originated in the U.S. and then have a connecting international flight with the same airline & on the same reservation then your bags will be "checked through" to the final destination. This will mean that you don't have to go to baggage claim, security, etc, but are just changing gates/concourses within the secured "airside" portion of the airport. In this case you would typically use the "Plane Train" to move between concourses as I demonstrate in this video: czcams.com/video/xl0zIgF93UM/video.html
Hopefully this answers your question...
First flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas Super bowl weekend and im more nervous about airport than the actual flying 😂😂😂
I hope the video was helpful. Have a great trip!
What Gates does Southwest use at Atlanta?
Southwest usually flies out of C gates at ATL. Currently due to COVID ATL actually has about half of the C concourse (Gates C-33 through C-55) closed off with a temporary wall. According to Southwest’s website they use the following particular C gates: 1-7,9,10,12-17,20-22. Hope this helps!
When you first checked in your pass said gate A31? But you boarded at A10? That confused me.
Sorry that confused you. After I checked in and received the boarding pass, they changed the gate. When they do that they make an announcement at the original gate over the intercom system, change the electronic flight departure displays, and push out notifications on your airlines app.
@@bozy106 thanks!
Un aéroport immense et moderne
WHERE DID YOU PARK FOR THIS FLIGHT??
On this one I parked at an off-site lot called “The Parking Spot”. They shuttle you directly to the curb outside of check in and also pick you up upon your return.
Flying from Omaha to Florida, but got a layover in Atlanta… flying Delta. Would you say most likely my flight from Atlanta to Florida will be in Concourse A since is dominated by Delta? It would help me a great deal to just find my gate. First time flying solo.
It would be difficult to guess because Delta has Atlanta as their main hub. Most of the Concourses are either dominated, or have a significant presence, of Delta gates. That being said, check out my video at czcams.com/video/xl0zIgF93UM/video.html which illustrates how the concourses are arranged and how easy/quick it is to move between them regardless of which one you land at or depart from.
I hope you have a smooth trip!
Awesome . Wished they would have filmed a little bit of security.
I would have loved to do that, but TSA is very, very strict about that. They don’t want any of their security procedures and practices filmed or photographed. There are some general videos out there (usually produced with the assistance of TSA that gives an idea of the general security screening but how it’s implemented varies from airport to airport because no two airports are set up the same.
@@bozy106 I figured . This will help my son out tomorrow. First time flying from atl to NC
