She also looked to see what cords he was playing on the bass so she knew where they were in the song. When her ear piece went out she can't hear anything, she can't hear the band or the backup singers. You can even hear her go off key for a second. All the speakers are pointed at the audience so they get the best sound and also so the artist and band doesn't get confused on what they are hearing.

Not the difference between an artist and a performer but the difference between an artist and a musician. An artist and a performer could actualy be the same, while being a real musician makes the difference.

You need to be a musician who is familiar with all parts of the song to do that. Remember, Amos plays base, not a regular guitar.
As an audio tech, having in ears drop out is one of the worst things that can happen in a show, because you often can’t fix it, but no one in the audience knows what’s happening, so you can’t make a scene. You just have to rely on your musician’s talent. That’s just one of the things that makes working with good musicians so much fun. You have full confidence in them, and they in you, and at the end of the day everyone knows everyone else did their absolute best to put on a great show.
Also, the amount of noise!!! The speakers are often pointed at the audience not you the performer, so you don’t hear the music and sound if your Taylor with fans screaming their lungs out at you😂
@@free4everinmyworld That's very true! fortunately the stage design for the Eras Tour probably would have put Taylor in front of at least one major set of PA hangs (speakers) so she probably could hear at least a little bit, but the crowd noise must be unbelievable for a crowd of that magnitude and engagement.
My in ears got unplugged once when I was leading worship at camp and I had to do a big belt in the song and it was so difficult to tell what was going on😭
That's why on my band I have not changed to earbuds,I still use monitors...I'm a drummer vocalist and I just can't hear with my ear buds ...I have tried the best and the worst and it just don't work for me .... People don't know but if they heard just the monitors people wouldn't know what to think, I keep mine dry very little effects they sound,100, percent different than the mains ....It's a big difference

the best thing about taylor is her work ethic and self-righteousness tbh, her lip syncing is something that could never ever happen because I feel like she would have to go against her own nature to do it and same with faking the vault songs or the re recordings that's what makes them even more brilliant. any other artist wouldn't have minded taking a shortcut but with her I feel it's not even comes across in her head

Pretty cool - as a musician tempo can be hard to keep especially with hard classical pieces. Ik that she sings pop stuff but it’s still cool. (Also I’m not a swiftie- I listen to classical which is the exact opposite lol)

I used to work concerts for big artist, speeches for presidents, etc. Trust me a lot of them don’t make it look this smooth or be able to handle it without the sound crew intervening.
Gee whizs remember when bands actually played on stage. And they could actually hear each other playing and singing and they harmonized together et cetera

Those stadiums are RF nightmares. Hats off to the systems techs to make sure Taylor's IEM mix actually gets to her pack, as well as all the mixes for the band/MD's IEMs. Even with solid antenna coverage, all it takes is a weather change or a construction crew's walkies bleeding in on their RF spectrum, even if its digital (remember that scene in Spinal Tap? 😂)
