I feel like this situation is ripe for an “I hired a professional organizer to…” video or video series. I would watch the heck out of that. I have a v similar natural organizational habitat and finally after fighting my stuff for years hired a professional to organize our home and it’s been magical. She introduced me to so many clear storage solutions that fit my aesthetic and it’s been incredible being able to see everything. I use my makeup and really everything so much more now!

I was about to ask a similar question! Wondering if the Merit is similar enough to be a dupe? I’ve been on the fence about trying WA for a while… this video definitely makes me want to purchase!

@@EngagingQuill I'm no expert but I've used both and in my experience the brands and their products are super different. I like the WA foundation stick much more and their blush shades are much more interesting than Merit. I definitely like Merit's mascara and highlighter more, but many WA products are a staple in my routine and that's not the case with Merit (though I still really like Merit!)

Just dropping this here for my real fair skin ladies who can't find a good contour that isn't either muddy or orange on you. Nyx Wonderstick. Wowsers. It's the best cool taupe contour and the highlight side of the stick is also nothing to scoff at. What a find!

You could also do floor to ceiling shelves and display everything as if it were in like the skincare section of Sephora , I feel as though that would be a lot cheaper and easier (and take up less space) than trying to find the perfect cabinets or drawers

also I think this might make doing your makeup on a daily basis apart from filming a bit easier.
It would also give viewers more insight into your collection cuz I forget what you have and don’t 😅

I'm pretty sure the closets Hindash has are an Ikea closet system, where you can pick drawer sizes, rails, etc. He seems to have the drawers with the glass fronts that are available and some sort of customized dividers (at least on the stories I found on his channel). I personally really like clear lucite organizers. I have a small space with a small desk with minimal drawer space for storage & have been able to utilize the space I do have by finding lucite containers & dividers. I store my larger palettes in the bottom desk drawer which was originally designed for file folders so it is somewhat long & deep. I store the palettes standing up like we used to store LPs using a clear lucite divider with removable slats. You can also use wooden plate display/holders that interlock if you can find them. In my shallower drawers I use clear lucite organizers --again with removable/adjustable dividers to store smaller items like individual blushes, bronzers, etc. They also make lipstick holders, lipgloss holders, everything you could think of. Actual storage drawers are a little more difficult since I've never seen full furniture size clear lucite storage units. I imagine those would be custom? But they do sell smaller sized clear lucite storage drawers & containers. You could go with open shelving you install yourself ( like a closet system) & then purchase organizers that work with that system. That way, everything would still be visible & easily accessible but not taking up as much space as just being in piles. My "makeup room" is also my office which is also my library which is also my gift wrap room which is also my art studio...so yeah, I have lots of stuff crammed in a small space. I am the queen of cram ...er, I mean organizination :D

Great video Kackie! Yes, Gucci Westman sure knows what she's doing. I have several favorites from the brand in my collection and of course always enjoy the presentation and packaging. 😊 In regards to the brow pencil you might end up preferring the color Bark which is supposedly a dark brown but goes on quite neutral and is not a harsh brown at all. It's a true brown. I have medium brown hair, am very fair and love it. My eyebrows are fairly full naturally and match my hair color. See what you think if you consider trying that color! Honestly, even if you don't have ADHD, the whole object-permanence thing with organization (needing to see it to remember it exists) is such a common trait of ADHD that there is a solid amount of info available about it; you don't need to have any specific label or diagnosis to start accommodating yourself. 🙂 Those spaces have always had amazing tips, skills, and ideas, so maybe looking to them for inspiration might help either way?

    • @moss.miller
      @moss.miller Před 2 lety +1

Idea: Swatch cards? Or you could use transparent tape to get a small swatch and then you could put that on the outside/bottom of the compacts, maybe that would help? 🤔
I fell in love with an eyeshadow palette that is now too old to put on my eyes... with a clear binder, the pigment made a decent paint. Maybe that's nothing, but maybe there's a way to organize the colors more visibly?

Encyclopedia is incredibly useful- and strategy for maintaining can be multi- pronged. I give you a ton of credit for already culling through makeup releases and really picking a lane combined of your interests and viewers styles. I appreciate your taste. You don’t buy ever cover girl release or new Gwen stefani at Sephora. I truly truly already appreciate the stuff you choose to highlight on this page. I encourage you to keep culling and feeling confident about your edits - also polling on Instagram might offer nice feedback. You already do this, and I do appreciate it!
Hire a professional organizer to work with you for 1 session. Ask all the questions and tell them what your top priorities are! Make sure they offer you solutions and systems that don’t lose you in the process!!

Love this video! You encouraged me to try WA in the first place and I've never looked back. Though I agree that the powder is just fine - I am very fair with neutral undertones and purchased the lightest color (not pink/white) and it's great BUT I prefer Kosas (which you also encouraged me to try!). I can't imagine how daunting the thought of organizing your collection is but I'm so thankful it exists. Your knowledge and ability to capture a product in words has a) saved me a ton of money; b) saved me from the frustration of trying what I would have tried and failed to make work; and c) helped me find some of my absolute favorite makeup that I wear everyday and feel great in. You truly helped me learn that makeup can be easy and fun, and now I love doing my makeup and feel confident in my choices because of all the knowledge you've shared. Thank you always!

I focus most on papercrafting, mixed media, and assemblage and I'm struggling with how to manage my ephemera so that I can easily see it, but it's not just in mounds cluttering my workspaces. I have one set of eye pods I really like. It’s got a brown and a green shade. I received two of her glosses, very nice but way over priced.

I think my comment disappeared despite avoiding links so the spam filter wouldn’t catch it. But I have an idea for you that would mesh with your vibe, I think. Nail polish racks (hear me out) in a gold metal triangle display shape. They can be had on Am*z*n if you search for “metal triangle nail polish rack,” for under $150 for what will probably be listed as a set of 6 or 10, depending on how generously they’re counting the pieces. I’d wager even with the size of your collection, it’d handle at least the complexion and cheek products? Would even match the channel logo. Eyeshadow palettes can have a dedicated clear magazine rack-type solution, or Et*y has a lot to offer in the resin palette organizer department. With the categories whittled down from there, whatever remains will be a lot easier to handle in something like the classic M*ji-style clear acrylic drawers, or lucite-ish inserts into a cubby display shelf, or (if the collection is even bigger than I imagine) some sort of rotating monstrosity that you could easily stash in the closet when you are tired of looking at it, then wheel back out.

100% pure blushes are huge. The peach and the pretty naked are my favorites. And the Jane Iredale bronzers are large too (Sunbeam is my favorite). I hate the small ones that cost a fortune. Not doing it.

Why apologize for brands not having a wide (aka deep) shade range? There are brands for black women that do not include the light shades I use, and that’s okay with me. No apology needed!

I also got it and I use it and I am medium to tan skin tone and I do not see it show up or crease white on my 46 year old skin - I do not use too much because I need all the dewiness lol (and yup you have some GenXers who love you and your content Kackie.

Such a great look! I love Westman Atelier! I was so excited when I saw how long your video was haha. I had a questions about the brown pencil. Does the end dull after you use it? Do you have any suggestions to sharpen it to get it back to it's shape?

I think your too young to appreciate the magic of the powder. Also, I think the cream color looks better. I detest those white powders. They never look good. The Kosas is nice but it’s a bit drying For my 45 year old skin.

OK, the thing that people don't realize about ADHD is this: we can focus on things that produce dopamine. For you, Painting, Makeup, these things make you happy, therefore an ADHD brain is going to be more gravitated towards that stuff to the point where we can hyper-focus & before we know it, we've sewed for 8 hours without taking a restroom or food break (It's me...I did that.)
I'm not saying you do or do not have ADHD, but PLEASE don't contribute to the narrative that those of us with ADHD can't focus or concentrate, we can, it just has to be on the right tasks.
