When I was first getting into tea I wasn't expecting to enjoy low oxidation oolongs as much as I did (due to being biased against green tea from my upbringing), but they are so pleasant. Not picky about brewing parameters either!
I also found they are super forgiving of temp and brew time. I just sorta steep until the leaves are soaked through and no longer have dry spots visible which happens usually at the 6-7 steep mark. Also GABA oolongs are quite different and interesting as well.
@@snehalkrishnan618 I don't really have a preference. But it depends on what you like, if you prefer a more smokey less vegetal flavour you're more likely to like darker oolong.
Same here! I love oolong so much ❤ My fave used to be called "jasmine oolong" but my new fave is "Ya Shi Xiang Dan Cong" aka Duck Shit. I'm not kidding. It's delicious 😂
@@DLlama I wanna try Duck Shit Oolong but it's very hard to find some in Australia otherwise it's just too expensive with currency conversion and shipping fees.
I like oolongs as an "all day" tea where I make a steep every so often throughout the day when I want it. Not really a "waking up" tea. For my wake up tea I go with a high test Japanese green or a red tea. Also recently learned of the "grandpa method" which works good for the "mids" teas as long as they don't get bitter after long steeps.
I like to recommend Oolong to people who are interested in green tea but have a hard time with the grassy notes because in my opinion the well roundedness and floral notes give an introduction to the great parts of green tea. Also the robust nature of the leaves are a great way of introducing people to lower temperature steeps
the Chinese restaurant I worked at mixed oolong and jasmine tea together for their house tea. no one ever ordered it, it was really for us to enjoy on cold work days lmaoooo. except for Mama, she preferred hot water for most of the cold days.
my favorite tea of all time is osmanthus oolong, although your content is has encouraged me to branch out a bit with tea and I’ve decided to buy some tea pets and other things for ceremonies :)
Omg one of the only teas ive ever tasted that tastes different than other kinds to me!! That and red tea are the only two that dont taste identical to all the rest lol
Jesse have you tried ruby oolong? I feel like most people like the less oxidized ones more, however ruby cultivar oolongs typically are more oxidized and I get caramel, coffee and chocolate vibes from it. It has been my daily driver for quite some time now and I'm not planning on changing that!
Someone once asked me if oolong was green tea or black tea. Knowing they did not want to hear a rant about tea oxidation, I told them it was a brown tea-- halfway between green and black.
wait so.... where i live oolong is a lot more expensive than green or black ones. So can i mix black and green tea leaves to get the oolong-ish flavour?
My favorite tea is Harney and sons pomegranate oolong tea. I like regular oolong and green tea too. Years ago, my pen pal from Japan sent me fresh green tea.
Restaurants kinda killed my interest in oolong. I really dont like the flavor, but maybe if I got some myself and played around with it a bit. It has this nuttyness that really doesn't work for me.
False information Oolong is actually describing how when you drink a cup of oolong you make the sound "oo" for a long time Disappointed in your misinformation, I looked up to you as a reliable source of tea information 😞😞😞
