    I'm a crafter that dabbles in a lot of different things (crochet, xstitch, resin, charcoal drawings, alcohol ink drawings, adult coloring books, diamond painting, etc etc etc lol). My son and daughter thought it would be fun to see what I could do with needle felting so they bought me some supplies for Christmas this year. I'm so excited to try it!! I have learned SO much from watching your videos - and this one was just so informative with blending, highlighting... using the tiniest sprigs of colors. I haven't tried to make anything yet but I'm almost ready to give it a go. I think I will start with something "simple" and inanimate like a bowl of fruit or something "forgiving" lol. Thank you SO much for your very detailed work and techniques!

      Hi Pann, for cushions -- it depends if you are sitting on them ... if so, the most common would be thick foam wrapped in a batting. If pillows, you can use poly-fill.

      Oh gosh! We have all done That! NOW...you are "experienced" -- enter cheezy grin. I don't pull up my 2D pictures like this one now because I prefer the fabric stay smooth, but if you use finer needles, you may find that you don't have to poke so deeply.

    Wow it's amazing! I'm from Indonesia, here's not much people know about this. I'm interesting in this and I learn as well. What I see that you using a different wool fiber (correct me if I wrong). It's something like here's called "dacron" (synthetic wool) or real wool fiber? Difficult to find materials here. I'm sorry my English is bad but I hope that you understand what I mean 😅

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Hefrida Li and thank you for your message. Your are correct, this fiber is not the same. It is from sheep raised here in the USA, and available exclusively from our company
      LIVING FELT. We use it in many projects that we share in our tutorials. It comes in many colors and is available here: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/MC-1-Felting-Batts-25-microns_c_4.html

    Do you have to always felt the background before or can use wool fabric ?

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  Před 6 lety

      Hi Amy -- there are lots of options for backgrounds. In this tutorial, we used a wool felt sheet = commercially made and available in our store in 8x12 sheets or in yardage. You can also try other fabrics, linen is a favorite by many. We suggesting testing the fabric by needle felting a very detailed sample such as an eye so you can see how the fabric behaves and holds up without puckering,, etc.
      This is the felt we used: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Wool-Felt_c_106.html

    Can you put this on a cotton canvas?

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  Před 6 lety

      Hi ibanut, some canvas is very heavy and some treated...we just recommend testing the fabric for a dense application of wool. I more tightly woven canvas often requires a fine needle like our 42 Triangle. Ideally, when doing pictures and portraits that have a solid cover of wool, testing helps to make sure it isn't going to pucker. There are so many fabrics you can needle felt on...experiment, play and have fun! :)
