PS Thank you for doing it in real time and not speeded up like a lot of people do and then you learn nothing.
I can;t believe that you have been doing these portraits for such a short time , they are really stunning.
Thank you fluffy fish! We do have a fast version too :) --- we did that for the 2nd eye for those that just want to see it quickly ;)
I am loving Living Felt 🥰
I'm a crafter that dabbles in a lot of different things (crochet, xstitch, resin, charcoal drawings, alcohol ink drawings, adult coloring books, diamond painting, etc etc etc lol). My son and daughter thought it would be fun to see what I could do with needle felting so they bought me some supplies for Christmas this year. I'm so excited to try it!! I have learned SO much from watching your videos - and this one was just so informative with blending, highlighting... using the tiniest sprigs of colors. I haven't tried to make anything yet but I'm almost ready to give it a go. I think I will start with something "simple" and inanimate like a bowl of fruit or something "forgiving" lol. Thank you SO much for your very detailed work and techniques!
Meditative work. I had so much fun to see and Listen to this amazing portrait! I need over 3 years to make my desicion: needle felting. Thank you, you help to make it true. Greetings from germany, hope you understand all.
hola soy de Colombia me estoy iniciando en el felting, me encanta tu trabajo gracias por compartir tu técnica
Nagyon köszönöm, szuper, sokat tanultam tőled!🤗

Thank you so much for your feedback, Radha! We look forward to seeing what you make and wish you lots of fun with felting! :)
Amazing ! You are a great teacher , very informative and soothing to listen to.You have really inspired me to have a go.
@fluffy fish, thank you! I apologize I did not see your comment until now, notifcations do not seem to be coming. I appreciate your kind feedback and hope to see what you make :)
Thank you so much, fluffy fish -- it is so much easier if we concentrate on tiny areas. We have some fun kits coming for work like this...oh so soon! Great for learning and practicing and meditative creating.
Hi Pann, for cushions -- it depends if you are sitting on them ... if so, the most common would be thick foam wrapped in a batting. If pillows, you can use poly-fill.
Amazing. 😀 fantastic realism
Tracey Purves Thank you!!

You are very kind, Stacie! Anyone can learn this :)
Oh my god! that is amazing You would never know you have only done these for a short time, you can see the eye coming together. will be starting mine tomorrow, hope it as good as yours, amazing! x
You are very kind, Fiona, thank you :) Take your time, have fun...focus in on the tiniest parts and enjoy the process :)
@@LivingFelt I can@t believe you answered so quickly, thank you for that. I will take my time and focus in the tiniest parts. thank you so much for your tutorials,
I would order everything I need from you but as I am in uk we have to pay the customs cost and that has always been more than the orders, so I am sorry about that. Thank you again
It is our pleasure to share...no matter where you are in the world. :) Hope you can tune into our live show sometime...weekly WEDNESDAYS at 2pm Central = 8pm UK
@@LivingFelt I will thank you
The 'poke-it-in-and-twirl' technique used for the reflection is helpful.
Thank you, Jean!
So talented! New subbie here ☺️
Thank you! We hope you will give this a go!
Your tutorials are really fun and informative. What needle size and shape are you using? Would you consider doing a short needle tutorial , please.
I started my first cat today and was so happy with what I was producing I got stuck into it for two hours.......and completely forgot to keep lifting my work. 🤦♀️ Yup it had completely knitted to my foam, so now I have a lovely cat picture with a giant foam sponge on the back. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ TFS i found your video extremely helpful, new subby.....I am very embarrassed 🤪
Oh gosh! We have all done That! NOW...you are "experienced" -- enter cheezy grin. I don't pull up my 2D pictures like this one now because I prefer the fabric stay smooth, but if you use finer needles, you may find that you don't have to poke so deeply.
Hola, que bellos trabajos, consulta como haces la transferencia de la imagen al fieltro para poder trabajar ?
You do realize that now I am going to have to try this, right? I just learned how to do 3D animals 2 weeks ago (done 4 creatures so far).. omg my house is going to be full of felt.
Is it always necessary to reverse an image to transfer when using a transfer pen if there is no writing on it.
What makes for the best base wool material?
your attention to detail is amazing. i only hope i am able to see the finer details too, or just do my in pink and purple. lol
Thank you so much rosemarie :) The initial tracking can help, but I did find that doing a number of these was a great "study" in learning to focus in on tiny areas at at time. If you take your time and enjoy the process, you just can't go wrong :)
Wow fantastic I would love to try this. My problem is I’m not very good at imagining colours that would fit and blend. In your tutorial do you recommend the appropriate colours. Jo (UK)
What is the orange-brown color you used around the eye?
Sorry, but how did the printing get on your backing? You have said you don't draw?
Can’t get ref material or PDF as I’m in UK so can’t set up an account please help
Use USA as your country :)
Wow it's amazing! I'm from Indonesia, here's not much people know about this. I'm interesting in this and I learn as well. What I see that you using a different wool fiber (correct me if I wrong). It's something like here's called "dacron" (synthetic wool) or real wool fiber? Difficult to find materials here. I'm sorry my English is bad but I hope that you understand what I mean 😅
Hello Hefrida Li and thank you for your message. Your are correct, this fiber is not the same. It is from sheep raised here in the USA, and available exclusively from our company
LIVING FELT. We use it in many projects that we share in our tutorials. It comes in many colors and is available here: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/MC-1-Felting-Batts-25-microns_c_4.html
Do you have to always felt the background before or can use wool fabric ?
Hi Amy -- there are lots of options for backgrounds. In this tutorial, we used a wool felt sheet = commercially made and available in our store in 8x12 sheets or in yardage. You can also try other fabrics, linen is a favorite by many. We suggesting testing the fabric by needle felting a very detailed sample such as an eye so you can see how the fabric behaves and holds up without puckering,, etc.
This is the felt we used: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Wool-Felt_c_106.html
Im a beginner at this I want too make my dog she passed away only five months old.. ps what canvas do you use too make them on
Hi Marissa, I am sure it will be a lovely remembrance of your pup. We use 100% Wool Felt Sheets, and all supplies are outlined here in the SUPPORT DOCUMENT: goo.gl/EwtSGM
What is the cloth you are felting onto? It looks like a chamois.
It isc100% wool felt sheet 8x12 available in our shop www.livingfelt.com
What type of wool do you use for painting?
This is MC-1 Wool batting, it is available in over 90 colors, is a short staple and needle felts to a smooth finish. tinyurl.com/yy7fk65b
Hi, may I know how to trace on fabric ? Any tutorial ? Thx
We use the iron on transfer pen. See the first video in this series czcams.com/play/PLacvMSjI02xS-hU2dTM9wj5WceoSQcmQv.html
How do you get the tracing onto your felt to begin with?
Hi Gracie! Than you for your questions! We use an iron transfer pen, available here:

**full video on "getting set up" here:

LivingFelt thanks so much. Love your video. Will look for more.
oh sure! and if you download the support document, it will show you all the videos goo.gl/EwtSGM
Can you put this on a cotton canvas?
Hi ibanut, some canvas is very heavy and some treated...we just recommend testing the fabric for a dense application of wool. I more tightly woven canvas often requires a fine needle like our 42 Triangle. Ideally, when doing pictures and portraits that have a solid cover of wool, testing helps to make sure it isn't going to pucker. There are so many fabrics you can needle felt on...experiment, play and have fun! :)
What wool are you using please
Living Felt brand MC-1 Wool Batting.

in your video it said this is part 2, your title says part 1 its a tad confusing because on the video choices there's nothing else saying part 1 or 2
Hello aswee01 and thank you for your feedback. We will review this and see how to make it less confusing. This video is part of a playlist, One vid shows a quick version of getting the image transfer in place, one how we blended wool for this project, another for how to blend the wool in general and then this video in two versions = fast play and real time. Getting this support document outlines and links to each video: SUPPORT DOCUMENT: goo.gl/EwtSGM I hope that helps! :)
How do l find part 1
Carol Jean! If you go to our channel and then PLAYLISTS...all the videos in this series are there: czcams.com/video/mIree5NBY_E/video.html
Very disappointed that this video is not captioned. I am deaf, I think this video would answer my questions about 2D felting and it is good at real time, but there is no way to guess what is being said.....Please caption videos !! I love your work ...!!
Thank you Diana, not sure what we are doing wrong...we will look into this asap.
It should be fixed now, Diana! Thank you for your feedback and sorry we missed it the first time :)
Sadly still no captions!
Sorry, but how did the printing get on your backing? You have said you don't draw?
