I understand what you mean, but I also think every form of singing does the same. Actually, vocal chords have been the first instrument, even before the drum or the mouth harp.

I don't care if I might be 0% mongolian or may never be able to visit Mongolia in my life, but this music makes me so emotional like when you hear a song again that your parents would play for you when you were a baby. I might sound insane but when I die, all I want to do is ride on a horse on endless steppes, with or without music.

cause it's using the voice of nature which is directly connectted to Köktengri's(the mighty god of eternal sky) mistery sound frequences what is "iiii" sound(in english "e" sound). focus for attention to throath singing sound frequences. it's the same voice of the sun(high frequencies of "i" sound).
Absolutely! And since I discovered their music several years ago, everything else I’ve learned about their culture is just as awesome. (Except for boortsog, I can pass on that, thanks.) But I know what you mean. I don’t know how to describe it, but it makes me feel like I’m connecting more to who I really am when I hear the Morin Khuur and the throat singing.

Many years ago, in Amsterdam, under the “tunnel” of Rijksmuseum, a really acoustic place, I was blessed with meeting the duo, a man(singer) and a woman(instruments), dressed in traditional Mongolian garments and listened almost in a trance the entire album live! At the end bought the cd from them, which is still in my collection but not working anymore, guess I listened to it one time too many…
One of those casual meetings while traveling on the road, that changed my life and my soul...
Searched for it sometime ago, with no luck… guess it was before october 2017… time goes fast when you look back…

To be honest, I found the CD online some years ago and was impressed to find so little information on Discogs, disproportionally little compared to the relative success of this post...
Cannot agree more with you about the teachings from travelling. When i submitted my bachelor thesis in 2010, I treated to myself a 3-months trip to Siberia, one month spent in Tuva alone. Several of the full albums I have posted on my channel are similar underground releases from Tuvan musicians. I quickly discovered the Mongolian traditions and appreciated their music as well. But that being said, I have now gathered 15 years of backpacking memories, paired to the joyful pain of carrying CDs, vinyls, and books from different countries back home...

@@fili-tis-petaloudas Hello, I also saw the group perform live, at the Edinburgh festival about 15-20 years ago as a child. My parents bought me the CD and it's still probably in their house somewhere. I remember that the performers are a husband-and-wife duo, but not their names.
I also remember that the opening song in praise of Genghis Khan was composed by the "horse-fiddler"/singer shortly before the recording of the album, and that it won a national prize for composition in Mongolia.

What a powerful image! Yes!
It takes years of training to be able to sing like that! I am in awe of her ability.... But you must be also aware that they go beyond the human vocal range ("throat-singing") There catches the realm of nature spirits and demons.
Hence the tripartite throat singing of the Tuvans (kargyraa-khoomei-sygyt) corresponding to the tripartite division of nature (underground-earthly-heavenly) and the body (legs/genitalia-vital organs-head).

I first read John Lamb's Ghenghis Khan 60 years ago as a child. So much military and historical respect felt toward a remarkable people and nation! Love watching Mongolian genre movies or videos about life there also. In the service of great "CHINGHIS!" Salute! Love Marco Polo miniseries both 1982 and newer.

When I bought my Tuvan shaman drum and the craftsmen made me hold the dead horse's skin against the wooden frame of the drum in order to finalise it, I made plenty of thoughts about what it means to be post-nomad in these areas (and I wasn't a vegetarian back then..)

Ah yes, I watched Marco Polo some years back and I remember that the throat singing caught my attention as I was not accustomed hearing it in big series. You are not the only one relating the Mongolian (and Tuvan) folk music to bluegrass - many people call it Siberian/Mongolian cowboy music (there is a striking similarity between banjos and their local string instruments) - check out the documentary Genghis Blues as well, if you want to delve deeper into the cult of American/SIberian/Mongolian crossovers!

Although I do not speak Mongolian, I think a good way to start is to look at the tracklist which contains English translations of the song titles. The themes are pretty much about nomadic life with animals, tribalistic content, and the holiness of certain natural places!
Half of the songs are about owning horses.... The other half are about other people's horses.😊

From the best I can tell my last name origionates from Tataristan. I do believe it is from slavs who emigrated that area, so I have no real idea if any Eastern blood is in my genetic makeup. There are many Yuditskiis from Lvov as well.
Does anybody know where can i find the lyrics of this album and the melodii tuvi album? I am a student of musicology and i need the lyrics of these two albums for my undergraduate dissertation on mongolian music. Being more specific, i will attemp to transcribe most of the songs of these two albums (i will create music scores for each and every vocal song within them ) ,so i need the lyrics of the vocal songs to put them below the notes. As you can see from the comments, the band who made this CD is quite difficult to trace and we have no idea where to find them! As for the Melodii Tuvii record (one of my favourites), if I were you I'd join the 'Tuvan Music - Kargyraa, Xoomei, Sygyt' group on Facebook and ask there. Sean Quirk might be the best person to ask and maybe if you look for the email of Zoya Kyrgyz, the founder and director of the International Scientific. From other comments here, I collect it was sold in very few copies when this band was touring/busking around the world. So it is a matter of pure chance if you manage to get a copy...

I am a devoted listener of your channel aand Traditional music channel snd im really amazed by the music you publish. I have one problem which I hope you could help me to deal with .
At Traditional music channel there have been one video with a song called something like Pakistan Qawwali Music or Pakistan Qa'wwali Music and it was deleted. It had a cover of a Lahore temple or something like that and behind there was a pink sky. The song was sung by a woman accompanied by a choir of other women and it sounded like Urdu or Hindi and the duration was 20 min or something like this. In the middle of this song there was something like "Ya rasulullah ya habiballah". Can you please tell me the name and the singer of this song?
