  • This is a quick little video giving the run down on setting up your Sidewinder to run cartridges.
    The same principles shown here can be used on other Sidewinders as well.. but most ideal with the V7 platform.

    For me personally the best tattoo machine in the world. Any technique will work with it. It took 1 month to get used to the machine, but now working with it is a lot of fun. The best handle for this machine is from EZ Needle, it is adjustable by turning

    Feel dumb asking these questions, but I just purchased the 7.4 from you recently (loving it so far) though the clip cords I have don't fit it well, may I ask what type of cord you think is best for the machine? Also, if I am using a needle and tube, how do you recommend putting on the rubber band, and would the 28s still be the best option? Thank you!

      I like Noe Quintillion’s clipcord the most. If I’m the US, Workhorse Irons sells them. Otherwise, I find clipping the prongs down a little helps.. the #12 band is best with standards

    I got a question. I love the machine and use it with cartridges, as I change them a lot during work. I use your machines for years and that's one's my fav.
    During first 2-3 hours of work, everythings perfect but usually after some time the tattoo starts bleeding a lot, even when I do a tiny light shade.
    I tried to: change the tension, change needles, check different rubber bands positions, change voltage, switch the clipcord but sometimes nothing really works.
    When I change the machine for some pen at that point (to check if its the skin problem), then it doesn't bleed. So its not a skin problem.
    However I do love your machine so I'd just like to find out what could be the problem to use it without stress. thank you in advance

    Hi Dan,
    what is the best sidewinder for cartridges? Had the opportunity to use the 7.3 and it was really good but had bad rubberbands….
    Or is there a big difference between 7B , 7.3 and 7.4?
    Thank you

    • @dankubin5386
      @dankubin5386  Před 2 lety +2

      I don’t know if I fully understand the bad rubber band thing.
      I’m only making the 7.4 now. I think it’s better due to the heavier bar. The mass of the bar helps drive the cartridge down better. Ultimately, it’s a much better choice to use it with standards… you will save more time in the tattoo process having it dialed in perfectly instead of fighting rubber bands and different cartridges… and different techniques, etc.

      @@dankubin5386 thanks for your answer Dan. Yeah I had some problems with the rubberband… I needed one for the bar and I needed one for keeping the needle bar down because the cartridge was a little shaky…. Maybe the needle bar was to thin for the hole in the grip ( hope that makes sense) and I have an expensive one.
      What are # 28 rubberbands exactly? Are they 2,8 cm long? I’m from Germany and could find it somehow.
      The lowest voltage I could run with was 5.5
      But it was still awesome for the first time. I will buy one but wait till a „ distressed black/ oak „ is online.
      Thanks for your time

    Hello, I'd like to ask a candid question Mr Kubin, but did you create that mechanism transforming a rotary movement into a motion that's similar to coils?
    Now a lot more people are doing those machines but I was wondering about who found the idea first.

    • @ivanmendoza8457
      @ivanmendoza8457 Před 4 měsíci

      Kubin did it first and did it the best ...all other sidewinders are just bad copies

    Hey!im between v3r and sidewinder v7.4 which one would you recommend for linning?

    • @dankubin5386
      @dankubin5386  Před 2 lety +1

      If you like a zippy, lighter hit, then the V3r. If you want a wider voltage range for slow and punchy, to moderately fast and light, then the V7.4. The V7.4 shines best as an all around machine at any speed

      @@dankubin5386 Thanks a lot for your reply!
      I feel like going for the v7.4 i guess.i needed something to line easily 11+ RL/RS and from what i can understand it should be piece of cake for the v7.4

    Thanks for the video Dan. Using catridges with the sidewinder, Isn´t killink a bit the "coil like" slap that is one of the best benefits of the sidewinder with the traditional needles? I mean, the "spring", meaning the membrane of the cartridge, doesn´t acts like a counter effect of the sidewinder hit?

    • @dankubin5386
      @dankubin5386  Před 2 lety +1

      Doing this is to negate cartridge tension. Still impostor use low tension. Best results is still with a traditional needle.

    How to I fix the issue, that liner carts getting stuck or hang in the skin? Thx

    • @dankubin5386
      @dankubin5386  Před 2 lety +1

      I think your rubber band may be pulling down too hard. If it hits too soft with more return spring tension, turn the impact screw in maybe 1/4 turn.
      But, I had a similar incident only when tattooing over a shin.. could have been the actual cartridge tension being too low.

    • @realseppel5198
      @realseppel5198 Před 2 lety

      Thx for your answer and sorry for the late reply. Yes the rubber was pulling to hard. Now it runs smooth on the soft side but same issue on the hard hitting side. I will change the stroke. Thx again
