Coming from someone from Houston TX growing up in the 80's and 90's we looked to Southern Cali as the way a Chicano should be but we also had our own style. In the mid 90's a lot of people from California were moving to Houston and all of Texas so I met homies from the Bay area and Southern Cali. I was cool with both because Northern Cali cats were a little more like us but we also liked the Cholo style. In Houston in the 90's any Mexican gang that was rocking Cholo style we obviously dressed with Dickies and some of us even Ben Davis but the Raza that were claiming Crips, Bloods, Folks they dressed more with Polo's, Polo boots and starched up jeans and fyi a lot of these crip and blood gangs were all Mexicans but they would be more cool with the Black crip and blood gangs. We integrated styles from Cali, Chicago and New York for in the early and mid 90's when I was in High School we had lots of people moving in from LA, The Bay, Chicago and New York.

Us as a people, we’re always good until we’re put in an uncomfortable situation and in this case I mean the jail and prison systems...I’m from grape st watts and within my community we have our brown side brothers which are the south side wvg’s...we all grew up together, ate together, hanged together and banged together, even the brown brothers and sisters that stay in and grew up in our community that are civilians, there’s never been any conflict between us. Coming from someone from Houston TX growing up in the 80's and 90's we looked to Southern Cali as the way a Chicano should be but we also had our own style. In the mid 90's a lot of people from California were moving to Houston and all of Texas so I met homies from the Bay area and Southern Cali. I was cool with both because Northern Cali cats were a little more like us but we also liked the Cholo style. In Houston in the 90's any Mexican gang that was rocking Cholo style we obviously dressed with Dickies and some of us even Ben Davis but the Raza that were claiming Crips, Bloods, Folks they dressed more with Polo's, Polo boots and starched up jeans and fyi a lot of these crip and blood gangs were all Mexicans but they would be more cool with the Black crip and blood gangs. We integrated styles from Cali, Chicago and New York for in the early and mid 90's when I was in High School we had lots of people moving in from LA, The Bay, Chicago and New York.
Everybody that ain't from Texas are moving down here Dallas it's also getting full of people from California & the Midwest & it's none but raza

I have met 5 Norteños. Some were from San Jose somewhere from Merced. They move down south, I didn’t know they were from UpNorth. They show me love so I show love back to them. My encounter with those few nortenos is been positive.
I did 10+ years as northerner and came home in 08. I been hearing about this for a minute but couldn’t really believe it could happen. Damn things changed. Anyway I see it as a good thing. I know some still don’t. We Been hard wired for conflict. Some change is good.
