In this video, we'll be discussing the possibility that BTS' Maknae Line may have to enlist early in order to reunite the band in 2025. If this happens, it would be the first time a member of the group has had to enlist early.
With the success of BTS' latest album and world tour, rumors are circulating that the group may be forced to disband soon. However, it seems like the Maknae Line may have to sacrifice their time in order to keep the band together. Let us know what you think in the comments!
Maybe I’m the only one that thinks differently. I myself don’t think that the Maknae line carries the group. I personally think the hyung and Maknae line work together. Each one brings a unique style of vocal cords, dance, visuals, charm, some rap some don’t some write music some don’t. They together are like a well oiled machine. Not saying apart they can’t do it alone just saying they sacrifice for each other learned from each other. They would not be who they are if they hadn’t grown together to become who they are and who and why we love them so. Just my opinion

After more than ten years together, the seven are accustomed to a team-above-self mindset, each sacrificing individual ambition for the group's good since BTS formed. Regarding military service, the three maknaes must believe that the benefits of serving now outweigh the costs, both personally and professionally. BTS has earned a trust relationship with ARMY. I've been following them since 2014 - they have had this goal that they have always shared (in some shape of form) since I could remember, and that is lasting as a GROUP for as long as possible/able. JK brought it up when he guested in show with a member of an older group that's been around for 20+ years. Tae has mentioned this goal several times back then too (pre-2017). It's only until recently that the older members have been more vocal about it. As mentioned in another comment - for JK's part - it could very well be that he does not want to subject his body/mind to military life when he's starting his 30s. there's a reason why most military has an recruitment age cutoff.
All your theories are pure speculation . The idea that he wants to be with his members and sacrifice his own personal growth , wait for them to be reunited is why he is going to enlist. It is stretching the truth too much.

You said so yourself that these are smart people and Jungkook in his own words when asked, which one would he chose between friends or career , he chose career.
Let us be honest here, even those so called honest to goodness good people, end up having feet of clay.
Why even question what is already set into play? The guys have such a connection that many can’t comprehend and put into question. I find it sad that people can’t trust their judgement because surely, they (BTS as a solid group) decided this was best for them individually and as a whole to be a positive step forward.
These are grown men and have minds focused on their future. Be happy for them, don’t question their decision and hope they make it through safe and sound.💜🌹

@user-dq3wg5ep5z when you mentioned Jungkook stated he chooses career over friends is not a negative. Going into the military with his fellow members is also a career choice because they'll all reunite together in 2025. He's said throughout his recent interviews when asked he would drop everything for BTS, he can't wait to work together again, he misses them etc. So he's referring to friends outside of BTS. The members are not his friends. They are his heart.
Your speculations were in line with mine. That they choose to serve now & all reunite in 2025 is a decision they made together. They could all fly solo, but they love being BTS and being together. I'm so proud of these 7 young men and eagerly await their return.
One of my worries when I first heard about their enlistment was that they would enlist separately and it was going to be up to 7 years before all 7 members were done serving (if Jungkook had waited until 30 to enlist). As much as I love all 7 members as soloists to me they are still the best when it's all 7 members together, it's magical. Sure HYBE will probably lose money for 18 months but they will be fine. And just think of how successful their first tour together will be after their service (I promise I'll be there). While of course I'm sad they will be leaving us for awhile I'm also glad this is how they decided to enlist. It would've been heartbreaking for the 6 members to serve, reunite for a short time, and then Jungkook serve. I really think BTS don't like to perform together unless it's all 7 of them together (unless it's out of necessity like a member is injured or sick). All I can say is serve well and serve safely and I can't wait for your return in 2025. Borahae.

Thank you for this. Despite the Maknae line popularity, the rap lines solo album were also very successful and have been met with critical acclaim. They have written their own music, composed, helped produced and j-hope did so with no collabs and under a great amount of pressure. I am proud of all 7. The 7 have talked about their love and commitment toward one another repeatedly and how much more comfortable they are performing together. What an awesome feeling that must be to feel this connected to other humans and to be able to share magical moments on stage. Can't wait for Jin and Hobi to man the fort until the rest get back. Wishing them health and safety.

It's always the difference between rap and pop music..as well as the looks. I personally like V's album for the layback vibe, yet the on eI listen the lost is Indigo and JHope's both albums. And not for one moment forget that rap line made their own music.
I totally agree with you. They all have made sacrifices for each constantly while they have been together that’s how teams work. Even though they have had great success as soloists each so different yet so good they all know that together they are on another level. They love and enjoy working together and each and everyone has stated that they missed their brothers when doing solo work. They all know that they will be together as a group in 2025 and in the future also do solo work and go and do their own thing as well as group activities. Some will shine brighter than others possibly and some will choose to be less in the limelight maybe, we will have to wait and see. I am not sure why those who follow the Maknae line feel that they carry BTS when all the Hyung line have had successful solo success. Jin will be the last to release his album and I feel will surprise many. As far as them sacrificing is concerned if they chose to do it then they are not sacrificing and are their fans so insecure that they do not feel they can walk straight back into where they left on their return, because I think they most definitely will. There is a reason why this group is the best of the best and that is their mindset since the beginning why question it now?

I have nothing to say except that I agree with EVERY point you made. Those that "blame" HYBE for decisions made in BTS that they, for some reason, do not agree with, don't know BTS or its members. No one is making these commitments but the members themselves. And why wouldn't the remaining four want to go together so they'll be back in time for chapter 2's 2025 debut? To know BTS is to trust and believe in them. When they tell you something, it's the truth and you should listen. The last thing I will say is that JK would NOT want to enlist alone. Agree…each member has expressed missing the other members in some fashion during their solo work. All have done wonderful solo work, and it will contribute to the “magic” the of the 7 together! Glad you mentioned the cancellation of the Map of the Soul Tour…how heartbreaking. BTS was at the “top of their game” (Western version of destiny!) What could have been…but on a positive note, I am sure COVID-19 brought many new fans to BTS, inclining me💜

it is perhaps misplaced to apply a western perspective of individualism (or "me first") to the bts members with regard to their solo careers. the bts members are koreans, first and foremost. and provincial koreans at that. their values and priorities are rooted in collectivism and confucianism. this means the bangtan boys will always put the interest of the group first before themselves. if you really think about it, it is also the story of korea -- how korea has pulled itself up from nothing to become the economic, industrial and cultural powerhouse it is today. this is because koreans put the interest of the bigger society first. among many examples, this is also expressed in the military enlistment. those who avoid it are ostracized, lose employment opportunities, etc. so there is no "sacrifice" in their minds; it is a duty that every proud korean male is expected to do. that said, the bangtan boys have also said many times before that they know there will eventually come a time when their fame will wane, and they may have to go their separate ways, but they would like to stay together as long as they can.
Thank you for bringing this up. I don't think I've seen anyone else brought up the cultural aspect of it. I've learned about this part of Korean culture while learning Hangul. It's very interesting especially for someone that grow up with the western mindset.

The maknae line has indicated, at different times, that the hyungs work ethic and support helped them to develop as artists, and individuals.
There are many talented people in this world, but too few possess the determination and self discipline to achieve success.
And, those that achieve success do so at a high price.

Thanks for your thoughts. ARMY has been a mess during Chapter 2 and haters and people with agendas have been increasing the mess. However, the magic of BTS and ARMy will continue and 2025 will be amazing. I think the members really communicated to each other what they want and this was the solution. When Jin comes back, he will have plenty of time to roll out an album and promotions. Next, Jhope will give us new music and fabulous promotions. Finally, Chapter 3 will start with the other five members return and we will have new music, tour, Run BTS and more. They will mix in solo work. I am sure some members will want to do other things and we may not get OT7 all the time. As you said, some members may want to take a break, start families, act, MC, and solo tours. I look forward to it all.😊

Starting a family doesn't mean one stops everything else. I find is strange that people think starting a family means to stop working in the field you love. Artists never really stop creating it's in their blood, as they have money they might slow down but that love of creation will not stop they'll go stir crazy if they can't express their creativity. Have you noticed how many have been saying oh They'll want to start and family and leave the music industry? They really make me laugh as they know nothing about creative people.

However, starting a families mean you slow down if you are actually spending quality time with your family. BTS at times only had one day off a month. If you care about someone and or have a child the work life balance will change. Album will not come out as often. Variety shows may not be made. It is not strange to want to go to your children’s recitals, sports events, and more.
I agree with a lot of your thoughts. If we’ve learnt anything it’s that BTS/PD Bang/HYBE are the ultimate in forward planning. I think they plot things out for years in advance. But we should acknowledge that BTS love to perform together. You can see they genuinely love being together as a group. As SUGA once said, he has goals to be performing when he’s 60, even if they have to sit on stools and the crowd is really small. It’s not a sacrifice for them. ALL of the members have sacrificed TO BE BTS. Jin wanted to go sooner, but waited to help the group keep their momentum. There isn't a perfect time to enlist, but the members have planned as much as possible, despite a multitude of factions...their varying ages, a pandemic that interrupted their tour and army's desire for an exemption! As fans we need to be more gracious and appreciate what they have done for us. Let's hold them down, support from afar and be here when they return!!!

No one forced them to go to the military they chose to do so that they can all be together in 2025 .. the last 4 of them had a live today and Jungkook said they chose to go to the military now because they want to get back together as soon as possible .. these boys are very loyal and devoted to their fans just as we are to them .. they have a lot of material prepared for release during their enlistment .. BTS are the most honest artist and they never lied to us in the past and I don't expect there to be any lies now .. I will be waiting for their reunion in 2025 .. They chose to go when they did. All Korean men have to go to their military. for two years. BTS members got 6 months off their stint as times served due to all the things they did to promote Korean culture.
Or maybe they're just doing it because they've made the decisions themselves & have earnt the right to do so. They are the global superstars they are today due to their endless talents, Brotherly Love & commitment to each other as BTS. They have promoted their Homeland in many ways & have made Millions for South Korea as well as enjoying comfortable lives for themselves. Totally agree! Synergy when it happens (rare) means you are better than on your own. In a harsh industry, it's a support. Sick or not you got to sing if you are solo but another can make up for it if you are in a group. They can still do their solo in between group tours. They can alternate BTS and solo tours or even make a tour with 2 or 3 of them while the others enjoy holidays, weddings, family. It broadens their individual audiences. Haters have the 7 to content with especially when insecure about culture and language skills. They are friends and bonded. Just as the industry attacked their group, now haters are trying to divide them: it must be hurting them too since they genuinely care about each other. Long term it adds to the longevity of their careers and the power of what they can accomplish. And it's also fun vs lonely, as they mentioned repeatedly. Because they prepare years in advance and RM has been super busy, I think they signed also on what is coming up: they know something we do not. And they WANT it! Shirts off is a means, a fun, a statement but as V hinted, there is something else they know about in Chapter 2 that we don't. They are immensely influential, very aware of society, cautious but also determined: what will be their next message? Not just to Korea or even Asia but possibly the world? That is something I hope to find out. This hiatus is about rest and building as individuals. They return as a force and, given the right opportunity, will hit the ground running. RM was going through turmoils: it might his exhaustion... or it might be something big.
Here in astonishment seeing how people still believe that a self made multimillionaire before 25 with more than ten year of experience at entertainment field, with his own team of lawyers and specialized professionals, can be getting into pressure to do something he doesn't want to. We need to respect JK and the rest of the guys always recognizing that are extremely intelligent, extremely talented, and overall people with good heart and kindness.
True. I have always said, it is not a sacrifice. They want to do this enlistment out of love more than an obligation. BTS are good hearted people. They use their heart more than their minds in making decision. They chose BTS more than anything else out of their love for each other and army.

I think JK really wanted to enlist with Jimin, because out of all of them these two friends seem to value and need the BTS togetherness even more than the others. I'm so happy that they will serve together! @lottat6420, it’s not that just because they’re going in together Jimin and Jungkook it is called a “buddy system,”The military allows two people to go in at the same time and be occupying the same Barricks and they will be discharged the same time as well so this was cleverly done so that they can both return at the same time! Military called this the enlistment Buddy system where both individuals can go at the same time be in the same Barricks go through the same military training and will be discharged also at the same time!💜

You have no idea on the reasons of their joint enlistment as a “ Buddy System “ ! Which is common way for friends to relying and support each other by training and being in the same barracks!

Who said the maknae line carries BTS? I'm so tired of solo stans and antis and their agendas. All 7 members play their part in carrying BTS, and all 7 members only acknowledge 1 fandom, and that fandom is ARMY. BTS is 7, and it takes all 7 members to make BTS successful. Each member has made it well known that they prefer doing things as a group, that they feel somewhat lost and incomplete without the other members. They each mentioned how hard it was without the others there. I don't understand why people refuse to trust BTS and take them at their word. Since the 2022 Festa Dinner, the members have stuck to 2025 as the time for them to come back as one. If you pay attention to when they're enlisting, you would realize they are aiming for all 7 members to be out in time for their 12th anniversary. People need to support what the guys want, not solos/antis personal agendas. A.R.M.Y. needs to take this time and get it together. We need to become the united fandom we use to be, the fandom that Bangtan made and deserves. Chapter 2 has allowed solos & antis to run wild like they're running things. The Maknae line wants to reunite as BTS more than any Army. Jin would have liked to go earlier but Bangtan has a plan & that is what is most important to all of them

Thank uou for this video. It feels so different to hear/watch your videos, made in a rational, mature and educated way. The reason why I chose to subscribe to your channel. I am not into Kpop. I was in denial that I have become an ARMY. It took me more than a year to come to terms with it. I first encountered BTS videos during the pandemic while searching for "funny videos". Initially ignoring anything not spoken in English or Filipino language because I find it overwhelming to watch videos while reading subtitles at the same time. Only to realize that I was watching Run BTS , later realizing that they also make music , as well as appreciating the music and culture , and then later on realizing how big they have been becoming. I have toured Seoul three times in three years pre pandemic but I didn't know BTS because I only listened to songs in English or Filipino. My point here is BTS has a way of somehow reaching and touching other peoples life. I was not able to visit my family in the Philippines during the pandemic. Run BTS was my go to videos to make me laugh , at least but made me crack up most of the time. Helped me keep my sanity. I agree that ARMY is in some chaos in Chapter 2. But BTS moves are well-planned and smart. Before we know it, 2025 will be here and BTS reuniting . Will be watching Run BTS again from episode 1 while all members are still in the military service. I wish the haters would learn from nothing dire they've predicted coming true that BTS is BTS and no amount of hate or made up gossip is going to derail them. Like RM. says, don't waste your hate and anger on meaningless things. There are many things to point those feelings at in this world, and to take some sort of action against. BTS or any music or group is not worth those emotions'.
I want them to get this over with. There is so much content , you might not have time to start from beginning to end in the 6 months until JIn is back with us. Plus we have their new documentary out on Disney+ Dec20th, Suga has taped many talk shows, JK and Suga let a little spoiler slip about a upcoming camping trip with JK and Jimin. I bet there will be something for xmas, and who knows what else. Also, Suga, RM, and Jimin talked about coming back in 2025 with a Bon voyage/music camp series which I think will be amazing as it would be their first time back filming.

Yes!!!! I’m an almost 50 year old ARMY living in Texas, USA ..saving money for wherever they choose to have concerts when they all come home safely. I’m praying for safe returns for all of these amazing men that have changed so many peoples lives. 💜Bangtan forever

If the enlistment dates are correct Suga will be the last member to be discharged (June 21, 2025). RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook will be discharged like 10 days before him.

Love hearing your thoughts. In my opinion, BTS teachers us that it's ok to feel your feelings (among so many other things). I admit I have been walking around feeling very melancholy knowing that the last 4 are taking that next step and I will miss them. With that said, at no point did it cross my mind that the Maknae line was sacrificing for the Hyung line. And I don't think JK, Tae and Jimin would want anyone to think that. I believe as you are saying - these 7 intelligent, financially savvy young men just love making music together. Each of them have stated how much they miss performing together and are looking forward to 2025. There was an interview that V did during his Layover promo's and I will never forget him saying that he wants to make this clear - BTS loves BTS. Let's thank them for being honorable citizens of South Korea, doing what they always said they would do, working so hard making content so we don't miss them as much and loving each other and ARMY so much💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The maknae line is definitely talented and popular, but that's not where all of BTS' talents come from. I'll use my own journey into the fandom as an example...
Before I became an ARMY, I really wasn't into rap, much less in a language other than English... But then I watched some uploads on CZcams of BTS' "Love Yourself Speak Yourself" tour and I couldn't help being in awe of not only the rap skills and stage presence shown through the rap line's solo songs, but also the energetic exchange amongst the members, as well as with ARMY, with "Tear." And there was Jin's vocal talent with "Epiphany" as well as his energetic exchange with ARMY... Some of my absolute favorite songs and performances have contributions from all seven members!
So, I feel, the decision to enlist altogether (to reunite in 2025) was because of the members' genuine love for each other, as well as ARMY. And that is such a beautiful thing - because that LOVE is one of the things I love about BTS! That LOVE is the main reason why I became a fan of not only the music, but of the members themselves! That LOVE is why I know, deep in my heart, that I will stay an ARMY through 2025 and beyond! 🥰

it's different for most but our body and mind shifts when we go from our 20s to our 30s, and so on. There's a reason why most (if not all) military's cutoff age is 30-34. Everything I know of military life is hearsay but I heard military life could be difficult (for some) to the body and mind. It's harder for human to recover from certain things the older we get.
I agree with you. I believe BTS is that unique group who actually plans 1, 2, 5, and even 10 years ahead. Of course, no one can see the future, and they will course correct but whatever they do is intentional.

I like how you broke down the question, into various topics and views that may arise from this one question. I love the fact that you mentioned how the Hyung line also made sacrifices. We must realize that Jin entered the military at the maximum allowable age, in winter temperatures, and with a worked body (he would have gotten the least rest). In their last dinner on Vlive as a group, Jin mentioned that he had planned to enlist during the Butter era but was asked by members to stay a bit longer. In an interview, (the one with Youngji 😅) Jin mentioned that for a team to be successful, members must put aside their personal wants and do what is best for the team. Even the planned enlistment took into consideration what each member wanted out of their solo time. Very good BTS!

I think you only have to see them together, or hear each one talk, to know that they really love each other, and BTS as a group., is their priority , despite their solo success. THEY WANT TO BE TOGETHER AS A GROUP IN 2025. I think you’re right in your assessment.

Your analysis, financially, is an eye opener. The fact that the BTS members still decided to go the military service, whether it was already time or not for the others, just showed how committed they are to each other and to their fandom. To them, money is no longer the most important thing. It’s their love for one another and their hope of being together again and being able to do their group activities. They must have already realized that after pursuing their solo works, they missed teach other, doing things together and spending time together. They did not leave without creating contents for the fandom to watch and wouldn’t feel their absence too much. When they return, whether they do group activities and do some solo works in between, they now know that the fandom will always be there to support them.the love, and trusts built between them, the BTS members, and the fandom is time tested and has become solid rock!
I really like your commentary about serving in the military will be a shared experience with the members who do enlist, and if JK doesn’t go now, he won’t have that shared experience. For that reason alone, I think he wants to go with them. Of course they keep saying they will come back for ARMY but I think what you said is the main thing. They love ARMY but they love the members and no one can ever relate to their lives and what they’ve gone through

The last thing I wanted was for everyone to get back together in 2025 only for the youngest to go off for another 18 months shortly afterward. This makes much more sense them all going now.
The young teenagers 10 years ago have grown up and in the most unique manner. They are very smart and have a lot of brains and tacticians at their disposal. The moves are all planned carefully to achieve their goals individually and as a group. This schedule is brilliant and they have maximized the amount of time to be away from the limelight and stage. I don’t think it’s a matter of who carried who. BTS members have always said that BTS as a group matters more than individual efforts.
All the maknae line wants is to be all 7 together ! And not only the maknae line RM Jin Suga and Hobi have the same mindset. Their love makes them be BTS !
BTS members love each other. I agree there is no sacrifice. They have also done what is best for the group. When RM was asked solo or BTS immediately he said BTS. I believe at that time, he gained the respect and love of the members and set the tone for the group

Do you think JK can do a solo tour only with his own written songs? His album is his. Producers and writers get. credit, but the songs are now JK's. the reason he didn't plan a tour is that he doesn't have enough songs. With Golden and other songs that he has he will only take an hour with outfit change and conversations with the ARMY.
Bts puts Army first. This enlisting together is so that they can be back together for Army at the earliest. Bts are truly 'once in a lifetime' artists. We are lucky to love bts.

We have just been spoilt by these wonderful young men, they have given us their all without taking any breaks, when everyone else sat back and took rests during Covid, these young men went out of their way to entertain and keep their fan base happy. They didn’t know it would blow up and lead them in other directions, they only knew that they were devastated because they couldn’t tour, so they gave us great music, on-line concerts, wonderful mv’s, so much laughter and pride, pride in knowing that our BTS was there behind us, helping us, cheering us up and giving us something to get up for when the world closed down around us. Then the minute they could, they got right back on track and worked even harder, even on their hiatus, every single one of them gave us their all and worked hard for us. Nearly up to the moment they have to leave us, by no real choice of their own. At this stage, serving in the bl**dy military will be a break for them.

I agree with you. To me a sacrifice is giving up something for the betterment of others. I think that’s what was done here. These guys love each other as brothers. And because of this love some of the guys chose to give up (sacrifice) their time in the spotlight to serve early( or delay). I do believe it was their choice . They have made most of their decisions together. These guys are smart businessmen as well as phenomenal entertainers. They have all referred to returning in 2025 and that’s what I believe they want todo. It seems to me that the members truly miss working together. I doubt that many people get excited about having to push pause on a successful career to join the military but as you said, the guys were going to have to go military so might as well get it over. I'm revisiting this 7 months later. At the time, I worried the most about Jin. What would have been best for him was to had done his solo album while he was in top form.
He alone was recruited without even a shred of musical or dance training and had never seemed to have a natural talent for it either. He worked very hard to cultivate that gorgeous silver voice. But 18 months of zero practice or performance opportunities had the potential to unravel all that.
And while we loved his small performance after the hug event... and he did very well compared to most any idol... it was not Jin's usual standard when measured against himself. There were spots of rust... but he was still amazing.
However, the timing of his comeback is working out brilliantly. He has the fan boost from being our first to return. Then bam... he becomes an Olympic torch bearer! Now, the Gucci endorsement! TV shows are clamoring for him. Yes, he could... and probably should have taken a small break, but not only ische back doing what he wants to do... he knows that it is the time period he can accomplish the most. The timing has worked out in the best ways possible.
Like most, I eagerly awaiting his first solo album. It may be that HE will be the 1st to have that first #1 BB hot 200 album.... not JK nor Jimin.
I have a feeling that RM chose to enlist together with the maknae line to ensure that nobody will influence the decisions of the maknae line against enlisting at their agreed schedule. Which is beneficial for the group to be able to comeback together in 2025.
You underestimate their team work. The maknae line are not fame hungry nor are they like members of Western boy bands. They strive as a group and want to be a complete group. People project their selfishness and vanity unto the 3 youngest members and forget what they said a million of times...Their priority is BTS as a group. BTS are brothers all have expressed loneliness for the group while doing solo activities these are heartfelt admissions yet they are dismissed by many. These men have had many experiences together that only they had and though you can tell others what happened they can never know the reality as would someone who live it with them.

I also agree with you about Jungkook, although he is a master at the stage and with ARMYs, I think the whole experience just doesn’t feel the same without his hyungs. They do look like they have so much fun together and really give each other the support that makes a difference- because no one knows their experience and what it’s been like but the 7 of them. Love them so much, care about them so much… wishing them all the luck in the world to get through the next 1.5 yrs SAFELY and without any problems. I agree with you. But I believe this IS a sacrifice in a way, especially for the Maknae line as far as timing, BUT I believe it is the boys decision and wants. I don’t think there is any way Jk could have predicted how much he has blown up. I’m sad because of the timing, but totally support them in their decisions.
From what I understand, BTS and Bang SI-Hyuk started discussing their military enlistment back in 2018, which is 5 years ago.
If so, then the members will have obviously discussed this subject on numerous occasions, both all together and individually.
They will have talked about the best time for each member to enlist and we should respect their decision.

I think they are following what they want to do; but I also think they can still prove to be the most financially sound decision coming back ot7 in 2025 . Yes they can hack it alone but it’s more difficult mentally and physically; financially they can earn more with ot7 concert the sooner the better.
people thinking it's HYBE's decision for everyone to enlist now for a full comeback in 2025 need to put their critical thinking (HYBE) cap on. Let me try.
If I were HYBE and because I'm a business I will make sure to maximize profit (that's my thing), I will have JK wait until he absolutely has to enlist in 2027. That should give him (and me!) time to fully take advantage of Golden's success - maximize his full potential (lol, like I can't do this after his stint in the military? please...lol), and MY profit of course. As you may have noticed, my earnings has been hit by BTS' hiatus this past year - that, and the expenses I've expended on building other groups. If JK hold off his enlistment until mid 2027, he can make me money while I wait until the other groups in my roster start making me some. By the time the older members are back - JK can still fully participate in a comeback in late 2025, and go on a full-year tour in 2026 with BTS. He'll have some rest time before he has to enlist by July of 2027 too. By that time, most of the other members can fully concentrate on their solo work and endorsements (I can only imagine the ways my team can further extend the tannies reach i.e. make me more money) and the new groups will hopefully start bringing me profits by then. This is more beneficial since there won't be much of a break in my profitability - unlike when all members of BTS are in the military at the same time while I still have several groups in development (costing me money). That's at least 2 quarters of possible losses for me - imagine at least 6 MONTHS of no new content (from BTS or any of its members) to profit from, I mean to share with you! I can't, I mean, we can't afford that! The shareholders will riot outside my beautiful building! Remember, I'm a business! I'm all about profit and taking advantage of the IP I own. Happy investors are willing to part with their hard earned money to invest in ME, if I'm profitable. Investments which I could use to pay for my talents (I have to pay the tannies or they will leave me), the staff that helps the talents provide content and keep them happy which we would hope will give them life satisfaction (which I believe their fans would want, right?). You might not believe me when I say this, but I do care about them. I mean, more on what they can bring me whether that's as a soloist or as group, but I do care.

The question is insulting imo. Even suggesting the maknae line carries the group means they have zero understanding of the group's history and just how foundational the hyung line is. Without the rapline's writing, j-hope's dance leadership, and the hyung line's guidance, they would not have achieved the level of quality they did. The maknae line have said over and over how the hyung line have influenced them to become the type of people and artists that they are today.
Rapline is the foundation and core of bts and what make bts different. Ridiculous to think maknae line carries them. 😂 bts would be just another idol group without raplines lyricism, music production, leadership and performance production.

I'm just getting back to this video. One thing that I can speculate on is JK's solo career. I can never remember my exact sources. But JK was pretty explicit that he didn't write his songs for Golden. That he only took on songs that were presented to him that he liked. Also being able to arrange them into a loose narrative.
It wasn't like Jimin or Suga and the years they put into the process. Not because he isn't as capable but that maybe he just wasbt as into it but was required to contribute to the solo albums.
He took on Golden with a very chill attitude. All his appearances, interviews etc came off like he was filling an obligation. Not that he was putting in less effort but maybe more lacking in passion.
Watch all his promotional stuff. He is very congenial and keeps up appearances, but his mind seems to be sort of on other things.
One thing I try to remember about jk.. he was basically raised by those boys. Each of them took a certain pride in what they imparted to him. My speculation is that he just wasn't as into it because he wasn't with the members.
Here's why I think so. We all know jk is rediculously good with music and even creating a song on the fly on live. His ear is perfectly tuned. He sings around the clock. He is extremely capable of pushing out a full album by hand. Possibly with less struggle than the others.
I see jk wanting to join the military with the members as very on brand. I juat didn't see the passion. If he wanted to tour, he would've. But if you watch his promotions its very "got everything you need? Ok good, fun times, gotta go". To me it felt very cookie cutter.
He was involved in his passion and was happy to do so but really just wanted to be with the guys and be passionate about music together.
He gets asked about his best song. He thinks about it for a minute and is like "umm, I guess Standing Next to You?". He was right but he really wasn't interested in the question other than the obligation to answer.
Just a minor asside here. He made it clear it was making him uncomfortable when he had his shirt off. Filming 3D was kinda rough. It felt... forced that he had to have his shirt off. Then he is shirtless on the cover of his album. I know he didn't choose that art direction.
In fact jk has always been really fit and muscular. But can anyone remember a time where he wanted to take off his shirt or even dress sleeveless in shorts? Jk isn't shy, if he wanted to, he would've. Especially wouldve joked around or teased. He thought it was hilarious to appear on live "naked" under his blankets. Yet, he was unwilling to show even past his clavicle. Him and Jimin were always closing eachothers shirts because their clavicle was showing etc. It was always a slightly uncomfortable subject. (This is based on evidence provided to us in vidwo, lives etc)
So that was a tangent but as just trying illustrate why Golden wasn't really his baby. He was fulfilling an obligation and punching the clock. He def didn't want to be paraded shirtless in the videos or even on the cover.
So there's my little aside on why if JK could've postponed enlistment it would've been highly unlikely if not completely out of the question. He succeeded on getting through his Golden promotion by his very expansive charisma. His congenial attitude, etc. But, Jungkook doesn't do anything without messing around and joking. Not that has been presented to us. This side of him was almost completely absent behind his kind and pleasant smile. I imagine people would attribute to him finally growing up. JK has always been grown up. Screwing around will always be his personality.
I'm glad he went with the guys because that's where he feels he belongs.

I don't understand why people think that the maknae line were forced to enlist early. Nobody forces any of the boys to do anything, let alone when to enlist in the military. They enlisted early because they want to enlist early and want to be back together with the other boys. It was their decision, no one forced it on themselves.
S.Korean men can enlist from 18 so it's not that strange. What's strange is that the gov didn't give them exemption after all they did for S.Korea

The group EXO have had not had a full line up since 2019 and there is still a member that hasnt gone in.
For BTS it will only be 2.5 years without all members together.
I still can't figure out this whole age thing with the military. I mean Sehun from EXO is almost 30 and hasn't enlisted yet. I know the age limit for BTS was 30 (when the law was changed) but I thought it was 28 for everyone else but I constantly see other idols pushing 30 when they enlist. And that's no hate towards anyone I'm just wondering how the ages for enlistment are figured out.

Bts has more than recoup the initial investment made into their debut years...quickly after debut they soared in accolades and income. With all that have happened till now i concur that the decision to enlist all together albeit a staggered schedule is a bangtan choice....

Bang PD did not say for certain BTS would come together at that time because the contract terms were still in negotiations. Concert dates were not confirmed, etc. I hope the boys wait until 2026 to tour. They can get some spots in like they did in LA and Vegas, but a world tour seems to be a stretch unless they tour from July in the height of summer which would be rough. No way that would happen
The thing is, many young men enlist in their mandatory military service directly out of high school and before beginning university - as young as 20 years of age. So this is really a non-issue. The real question could be, why did the hyungs postpone their service until they almost reached the top age limit to serve?
