- Yamaha receiver NO POWER fix (all models)
All yamaha receiver saffer from the same problem. If your amp just stop to work and when u press the start button isn't start u need to replace capacitor C405 (the red one on this video) : 22nF/630V
I have no technical knowledge, just bought the thing after watching this vid and replaced it....fixed it!!
After work panutha
Thks bro, finally can switch on, after replaced capacitor
Worked like a charm on my RX-V661, there it was C-2508, 22nF/630V, in the mains section in the rear left. Thanks a lot !
Thanks worked 😁
I saw another CZcams video which also describes this capacitor as the problem. I have a Yamaha RX-V557 and I replaced the offending capacitor and its functioning just fine now. Thank you for the info' on fixing this. I also have an older Yamaha DSP-A1 which I re-commissioned as a 2nd surround sound unit but it failed after 2 days of use...sigh. It would go into PS PRT mode and shut itself down. I read a blog by this repair guy that most of the time these faults are caused by old solder joints going bad and coming loose from the board or the capacitors need replacing. He even said on the blog that if you repair the power supply problem and you replace the capacitors first instead of the solder joints being bad he would buy lunch. Well, he was right. After disassembling this heavy beast of an amplifier and inspecting half a dozen circuit boards I discovered one of the power transistors was loose! All 3 solder joints had disconnected from the board. Reflowing the solder on the joints and my amplifier is alive again. Yamaha makes pretty decent amps so I'm glad I could save this one from an early grave.
Hi there, my Yamaha DSP-A1 has the same NO POWER problem. It just click..and click. The fuse is still OK, though. I'm not able to locate that capacitor/ or the power transistor. Could you please advice? Thanks a lot.
@@tritran8184 the power transistors are the ones screwed to big heat sinks. There's a few of them.
@@stormkhan4250 Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Let me try. Right now, I'm focused on the power card (the brown one) where the main fuse (F102) on that.
Thanks, this made my RX-V659 alive again. Greetings from France !
Fixed my RX-V650, thank you!!
Thanks a lot! It worked on my RX-A1030!!!!!!!
It also worked on my RX-V659 receiver. Thanks!
Just fixed my RX-V659 replacing C654. Thanks!!!
Lovely, I just had same issue going on with my avr 1600, disassembled power board of it, de soldered every single cap and measures them and that one shown by you gives me 0.007uf instead of 0.022 uf so I can bet you have confirmed my issue :)
Thank you so much! I can repair a lot, but this I would never have found without your tip. I had that capacitor in my "stock" of parts and replaced it (a lot of work as in the RX-N600 the power board is more difficult to reach). Tested and working. Cost me no money at all!
Thanks a lot! Same issue and the same fix did the trick on my RX-V650. The original cap value had dropped down to 7,4nF so no wonder. I replaced the cap with a 100V polyester cap (original being 650V polypropylene) so I don’t know how that will last, but if it blows I’ll then replace it with a PP.
True, so true, change the capacitor in my RX V650, and .................................it work!. THANK YOU
I absolutely love this kind of video. I abhor it when my rime is waisted getting to the point. Here we see clearly what to do in seconds! THANK YOU. I’ve had my RVX1065BL for exactly 10 years and one month. Yesterday it stopped being on. Oh, it’s been on pretty much non-stop for all ten years, too.
Brilliant, sorted my Yamaha right out - slightly different model, mine's a RX-N600D with the cap a bit harder to get to. When i first changed it the amp would come on just for a few seconds and go off again but when i put all the screws back in it was fine, so an earthing thing i guess. Thanks a lot!
i have teh same issue with mine yep difficult to get to did yours do anything before you replaced the cap cuz ive got some caps on order and waiting for them to come. should this fix mine it has no power at all it just died one time
Thankyou very much. Replaced C405 capacitor which measured only 5.12nF instead of 22nF and my RX-V657 powers up again. Cost 80 cents from Jaycar.
This is such an easy component to change given its location. Thanks for making this video. Cheers
rx-v659/c654 22n - this did fix it. Thank you
So true. My RX-V650 did just that. Measured that capacitor and it was 8nF and ESR 450 ohm.
thank you very much .my amp sometimes works and sometimes not until it stop totally. changed to similar capacitor and all work now
Totally worked im soo freaking happy right now! Thank you !
Thanks for saving me a lot of money. 👍
Thanks it works I have fixed mine!
Thank you, this solve my problem too.
It works perfect on Yamaha Rx-V550 Thanks.
I have to say this video helped me to turn my Rx-V3800 back to life, only costs me $0.8 for the 22nF 630 V capacitor. Thanks a lot!
Man you just saved me time and money!
Works like new and the repair was quick!
Thanks!!
Worked a treat for my receiver. Thanks a heap.
mine still doesn’t work
Turns out a few bad caps caused all issues (including loss of standby). Got myself an Signstek MESR-100 V2 Auto Ranging in Circuit ESR LCR Meter, measured all caps - found 8 out of spec. Replaced - all good.
Thank you a lot!!!
Work's for me!!!
This capacitor is also called out as C4 for many Yamaha receivers. It is in the power card section and easy to replace. The value for this capacitor as stated in THIS VIDEO is for most models outside of United States, Canada and Japan. The C4 or C405 capacitor value for US, CAN and Japan is 473k 400 FI ( 473K 630V 47nF 0.047uF) also red in color. Do not use the 22nF/630V Cap if yours reads 473K.
mine (rxv 363 is blue and says 10nf uk model 300v,european model
My model is a TSR-8750.. and the capacitor that I think is equivalent is sitting in the 'C5405', and is colored blue. Does this sound accurate?
@@jessewisniowski7847 There should be a number followed by the letter k to indicate the specific capacitor. See if you can download the schematics for the TSR-8750.
@@flashgordon6238 That was tougher than anticipated, but I found the diagram. The C5405 ref number says it's part # WQ939400 and a description of 0.01uF 250V, but again this cap is blue and circular, and printed on it says AC103M. The only other capacitor that looks like the one in the video is about middle down the power board in slot C5403, and its red and reads 222J. The reference number says it's part ZD519200 and a description of 2200 pF 100V. Wish I could send a photo on here.
hi ive got a yanaha rx-a840 doing same thing , ive changed these as in your video but its still the same , do you no were i can get a repair manual from to check other capacitors ? thanks
Saludos, sirve pa el HTR 5730, al parecer es de 10 nF, te consulto ya que no tengo muchos conocimientos. Gracias
Thanks, that seemed to work. Only i did not have the right capacitor at hand, i replaced it with a 250v one, amp turned on but it smoked the resistor next to it, the one in serial, what resistor is this so i can change it, its black now. R419
Hatte meinen Yamaha RX-V559 schon mit Startgebot 1€uro als Bastel Gerät in Ebay gesetzt und dann das Video hier gesehen und es hat funktioniert! Hurrraaaa :D
This did the trick for my RX-497. Thx.
On Yamaha RX-A840 there are 2 of these - C3701 and C3712, on them it says "MPE223K 639d3" + a symbol looking like an underscored curved V, in the service manual they are listed as 0.047uF / 400V (Japan, US, Canada), and 0.022uF 630V for the rest. I've replaced these 2, however, the receiver keeps powering off 1 second after power on, and powers after 9999999th attempt at the power button. Any ideas what else I should replace ?
I have the rxv 2600 will these cipacitors work on any rxv?
Very easy to assemble.
hy my 797 problem!!! the low sounds are distorted, the display is weak, I replaced 2 63v 12000uf capacitors in it, there is no change, if I replace the part in the video, can the sound improve? or does it improve the lighting or just the power on?
Thanks for sharing. How did you determine the polarity of the capacitor?
This is a ceramic capacitor wich have NO polarity
I have an amplifier like this. Can you tell me which speakers match its power how many watts can I put the most
Well thank you. Helped.
Capacitor 22n.
Yamaha RX-497 now OK.
Hi, I have model HTR-4071 , in stereo the music plays without bass. I can't set it up. But in a movie where the effects are a blast, for example, it already has bass. Only when I play music so no bass. Don't know what to do?
Thank you!
yes it's true, but in my e410 there was short circuit on this capacitor and there were damaged much more pieces...almost all from standby circuit board...
Fraternal greetings. I live in Brazil. I have a Yamaha R-V1105 receiver on my workshop bench. The Yamaha R-V1105 does not turn on when I press the power key: the relay turns on and off immediately. The front display also doesn't light up. Could the companion help me? Giving me repair tips.
Yamaha RX-V550-Start after change capacitor, but because I didn't have 22nF / 630V, I put 47nF / 630V. Thanx!
I am having trouble finding which replacment cipacitor to buy. The code on mine says 473k 400 FI. could does anyone have any idea how to find it?
Thank you for sharing , You can help me ! Amly yamaha rx v750 not power .I can't find the value R412 near the c405
thx
Anyone know if a HTR-5750 is similar to this unit? Mine powers on for a second or two and then the dreaded click into protection mode.
My yamaha receiver damaged due to wrong power supply input. Instead of 110v my brother plugged to 220v and not switching on. Please reply me what yo check and what to replace.
Would the bad capacitor cause the fuse to blow? Mine has a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse but it just blew again. Thanks.
A lot of things can blow the fuse. U need to give the amp on someone with deep electronic knowledge to fix it.
same symptom..miler condenser change 22nf..
thanks
my rx-v440r5ds haf not this capacitor C405 . please help
Ok might have to try this.....
Good day sir pls help me i have also the same issue no power no clicking rxv 677.
Hola.
English,please.
Traductor de google.Gracias.
I did this with my RXV1700 4 years ago but now it's switched itself off and won't turn on, tried the same cap but not working this time.
I have power but no sound any more, no hdmi data on OSD and no channel indicators on front display. Please help!
How do I replace the red capacitor? I'm a newb. TT hx
You have to desolder the old one and solder in a new one. Make sure you have the polarity correct if applicable and make sure it UNPLUGGED!

Okay guys, on my RX-A840 I'm getting the following fault: PS3 PRT:130 L. In the service manual it says the normal range for PS3 is 132-168. (+5.5); Port Y0, Pin 13, Related power supply: AC. Does anyone know what could the culprit be?
How about for RX-V550? What is the right number of c4?
Find the same tipe of capacitator, shoud be around the transformator and replace it wiht the same value
I have a Yamaha rx1070 and the relay clicks no power how to I fix this
How to repair Yamaha amplifier rx v363 power is working, but no audio sir....pls...from philippines
Sadly it didnt work for me,I also checked the fuses, both are fine...i have no idea what the problem is..
I've replaced mine but the self diagnosis won't let it play
Привет, rxv 659, заменил конденсатор, включился, но работает не стабильно, после выключения не включить заново, так же сам выключается через время и не включить потом. Из 50 раз включения 1 раз включается, в чем может быть проблема. ?
This procedure is correct. I can confirm
Do you fix your amp whit this way?
Yes... it's on and it works again, but the power outlet on the back still is not going ... it's okay anyway. thank you
My model is rx v650
Not in all cases, thats hard to believe
Aap kaha se ho
Az enyém nem reagál a távirányitó jelére!! Mi a tendőm?Köszönöm!
Hope to solve my problem. Looks to be a similar fault
What happen,do you fix it?
@@Istso-ob5jd If U like hard deep bass, this amp it"s not for U. All Yamaha receiver"s have NO bass boost system and the bass its wery soft. If U like deep bass go to looking for some Sony receiver (amp)
in my amp yamaha rx-v550 memory not save like volume level tone setting and 6.1 ch setting
plz reply me kindly
@Shahid Mughal There may be a capacitor or battery that allows the receiver to save the settings. Check the service manual for more information about your unit.
I have a HTR-3063 with the same problem but I am unable to find this specific capacitor. The chip layout and transformer chip seem to be different :(
I have a Yamaha rx 840 no click nothing what could be the problem
Check if there is a small red light that blinks on the front panel when the power button is pushed. Might be an amplifier problem.

Amplifier or power fault. In the amplifier section, most likely, a shorted output transistor. In the power supply, perhaps more than just one capacitor.
Sir 3850 5h ic failure
is this a DSP-AX640SE ? as thats what I have and same issue?
This does not work for all models!
What are those things called?
ceramic capacitor
Alrighty then.
Doesn't work for RX-530 which doesn't even have that board
True! Check the lamp on that one. If you hear clicking but have no display, the lamp backlight may be dead. I've repaired quite a few with the same fault.
@@tailfish777 I haven't worked on this receiver since the post, but the receiver has two very big capacitors with white junk around the bottom, probably bad.
@@writerjmd Oh, sounds like it. I'd have to see a photo but they are a common issue too. They're probably leaky and need to be replaced. Hope one day you get around to it. If you have any questions don't be afraid to reach out! =)
True for most Yamaha receivers.
When attempting to write an answer for you I realized there is a lot of data that you haven't told us here. An important consideration is the 'type' of capacitor you intend to replace with. You should seek out the specifications of the part you wish to replace and make sure that your replacement is comparable in terms of ESR, ripple current rating and rated life.
Everything else being equal, do ensure they actually fit in the same space and you can use higher voltage and preferably same uf and ensure ESR is about the same.
No fault this pf copistor
Instructions unclear, knuckle duster shattered the display, found the cap tho.
Haha...👍
Стал включаться, но выключается через 3 секунды
Il faut absolument mettre la vis qui relie la plaque à la masse pour que cela fonctionne !
