Tara you really need mothership 1 subliminal in your life. It is really underrated. It is cooler toned but it has two of the best special shades, a neutral blend out shade, a beautiful lavender/ grey.
That’s a beauty! Her first 3 palettes were so revolutionary, as an artist she really piqued my creativity, particularly with her early launches. I’m finding the boxes the palettes are presented in since Divine Rose becoming a bit redundant too. I’m just not as dazzled anymore. 🤷♀️
I can live with a shimmer or special shade not being perfect but for me at that price, ALL MATTES MUST work. if you say a matte shadow is not good blending wise, its a hard pass for me. I have been watching your videos a long time now and have purchased your recommendations and trust you. I think yours is one of the honest reviews of this palette I have watched so far. The mattes are much more red based than they appear online. I just cannot get behind any more pinks/reds/corals etc… I want straight up neutral browns (no more warm!) because I feel like with the beautiful shimmers, you can go in so many more directions if the mattes are basic and for her brand, would actually be different than what she always does. Unpopular opinion (don’t come for me 😂) but I suspect we’re going to be seeing “What happened to Pat McGrath’s brand?” rise and fall videos in 6 months to a year.
I think they're is truth to that. Especially with her constant 30% off sales. I feel it cheapens her brand. I don't plan on using the Mattes in this Palette when I use the shimmers. @@TaraLynnbeauty Agreed, it definitely cheapens the brand and has to mean it’s not doing all that well. I wonder if the reason her palettes are so repetitive now is based mainly on cost saving measures. A lot cheaper to tweak existing shades and make them slightly darker/lighter by changing the amount of pigment than it is to develop new colours. If I’m being honest, part of the fun of luxury makeup is feeling like it’s special. When it’s heavily discounted often, it loses that part of the appeal even if it saves me money, if that makes sense. I’d rather buy them less often and own fewer luxury palettes but feel like it’s a real treat.
I’m really glad that I watched this review prior to purchasing. If I can be perfectly honest, all I wanted was that “shifty” periwinkle color, so I’d really love if she’d do that as a single (not holding my breath though)! The darker shades (the mattes) will make me look like I’ve got an ongoing bacterial infection around my eyes, so this is going to be a *hard* pass for me. Wow I like the look of those newly formulated “special” shades! I never could get on with her special shades before. I do wish PMG would release a palette that had all of the shades I need for a complete eye look. I don’t think it’s asking to much given the price point. lol

I'm definitely waiting for a sale, i do think Pat should of left out one of the pink shades and put a neutral brown in or even a green. There is definitely a learning curve with Pat's matte shades, thats why over all ND has the best formulas for me because i never struggle with them.
Pat McGrath Mothership Palettes intimidate me to the max! I have the first Mothership Palette and Divine Rose 1 but hardly ever use them. I want to use them so badly but I just get overwhelmed and scared that I’m going to make a hot mess. As such, this palette is an easy pass.
She definitely knows how to do those Shimmer shades. And I loved all the looks you did too. Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple weeks. Very long story short, and after 2 Er visits, my sodium levels were at 120, dangerously low, and I had a severe infection in my knee. I was also septic, with the infection in my blood. My knee was surgically drained, and I'm in a lot of pain. I'm on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks. I finally got to come home Wed afternoon, and a nurse comes to the house every day. I'm not watching a lot of CZcams, but when I'm up to it, I watch a couple of hours.

i don’t own any of her palettes but this would be the palette i would FINALLY get at some point because i loveeee cool tones and these shimmers are intense and beautifully cool toned. i actually even love the gold in this palette for once, but i would DEFINITELY stay away from the mattes as i’m a BEGINNING to this formula. i think your looks were beautiful, but that second look with the PERIWINKLE GOODNESS was gorgeous!!! i’m sold on this palette. i had a reallllly strong feeling that i was going to fall deep in love with this palette when i saw the promo photos, but i fell more in love with it after seeing it in person. ✨💜✨

My thoughts...beautiful palette ESPECIALLY the shimmers in this one (they had more umph) and actually had some cool tones. That said, I do NOT like the berry/coral mattes...They don't match the color story imo. I wish she would've included a blue and green or even another brown. My ONE wish: PMG-give up the warm pinks and golds PLEASE! It really could take her palettes from a 9 to a 12 imo. I found using the new Too Faced Shadow Insurance was the best eye primer to use with and didn't experience any patchyness. I really love the duo chrome on you! It works well as a transition shade too. My fav shade is Platinum Dusk with the Celestial. Loved look #2! 🥰
I'm with you Tara. In particular, I feel like the brown paired with the berry shades quickly becomes a "bruised eye." Ya know something I learned, I used to struggle with deeper/more pigmented mattes too and what I found is that bc I was intimidated, I barely dipped into the shade and it caused some patchyness/issues with blending. Once I started using more pigment (not a ton, but "enough") it blended out perfectly paired with my natural hair brushes (Wayne G/Sonia G). Just something I tried and wanted to share in case it helps you. Told myself don't be scared 😂 Love your reviews so much! 💕

Agree about the Matt shades. I kind of went into buying this pallet knowing I wouldn’t love the Mattes. I wish there was at least ONE neutral brown. Those shimmers are so complementary for a brown matte. They just are. We have had so many pallets with purple mauve mattes from her, I wish she would give us one good base brown to work with. I will forever have to bring in a second opinion for a matte. Funny this is I reached for the same KKW pallet as you when using this pallet a few days ago 😆 it’s just super convenient. I'm passing on this one. I'd love her to create a palette with 5 mattes and 5 shimmers (no pinky tones allowed 😉). Even 4 mattes would've opened up this creative possibilities of this palette. How awesome would a purple and a blue matte have been in this palette? We hit 22 years last month and I can believe how much "stuff" is accumulated in that length of time - I love him to bits but my goodness is my hubby a hoarder. I literally just commented it's a beautiful palette but I don't like the mattes and wish she would've done a blue green brown or even yes purple. Literally any other colors lol. It just doesn't match the rest of the palette imo. No more pinkish and gold shades...

Because more often sensitive eyes and the price went up to 155 euro's plus shipping to The Netherlands. I heard from Michele that the special shades are not baked, mostly easier, i thought, maybe in sale. But, disappointed as i am for 2 matte pinks in 1 expensive palette, and i hear you talking about the mattes, thanks Tara, because this is a no and will be a no. I'm 52 now, and have almost all her eyeshadow work, i have so much to choose from still!!! That new ABH palette you also showed, i really loved. But Anastasia herself seems to support Putin. Now it's in my drawer, i first wait until i see more news about her, don't want to judge to quicly, but this palette and the terrible war on our beautiful continent, Tara, not a match. About this PMG palette, gorgeous on you, gorgeous on people with deeper complexion than yours!!!! For people like me, with light to medium complexon: i am used to take only 2 shades from such a palette, sometimes 3, otherwise i look like a Christmas Tree. I admire Pat, but getting a colourstory that is to cool for me with 2 pink mattes, and very very pigmented mattes, no. If she would come with only a quad with the 4 special shades, i t would be a yes, i think. And looking forward to my new Suqqu quads!!! Tara I couldn't agree more with you. I let a review in Pat's youtube channel the latest video she posted. I hope she gets to read it and take a constructive feedback given these palettes are so pricey yet not for all skin tones and not all ages. Women over 40 can rarely wear super glittery and such prominent shadows in daily basis, yet they are the ones that can pay for such hefty priced palettes if that makes any sense. In Switzerland where I live this palette sells for roughly USD 145 equivalent which is a lot. Pat needs to decide who is her target market and adjust the color stories, quality, shade variety, formula but more importantly the price to that target group. My honest opinion. Thank you for this video though, loved the first and last look you came up with.

Honestly most of looks I've seen from this palette look the same. All reddish pink crease combined with frosty shadows. I really wish she would come out with some non-pink/red undertone matte shadows.
As much as I love the duochrome shade, I would use it once and never again. It’s too showy, it’s too much of a statement, and I’m generally more afraid of bold shimmers than bold mattes.
I really like the look of this palette and I'll buy it at some stage but yeah it will be a get it on sale deal for me. I might've been convinced to fomo buy if those mattes were neutral browns instead of mauve/purple which I have in abundance especially from PML. Side note... that useless hourglass infinity powder everyone hates is really good for blending lines into the brow bone if you still have it 🤣

It all depends on if you wear colorful shimmers more than regular shimmers. If you do, then you'll love Huetopian Dream, if you don't, I would recommend the Moonlit Seduction 😁 The Mattes have similar tones, but it's the shimmers that are different 😁❤️ Hope that helps💕
Tara, you may not be a MUA but I appreciate your reviews about makeup (I'm not one either). Purples are difficult to formulate and I'm sad that that shade was patchy. Personally look to luxury or high end makeup for user friendliness and easy glam looks, and one of the only three mattes underperforming is def an issue!

Love the looks you did. I just don't think i can get on board with this palette. On camera the first two looks seem so similar, i know you used different shimmer shades but they just looked so similar. I can't justify spending this much for a palette that will give me looks that are so similar. I really wish Pat would venture into different mutichrome shadows. The Sexstacy shade here reminds me of the one in that quad (it was a blue to redish shift)

Probably won’t happen until the holidays or right after. You have to wait a bit for new stuff to go on sale. I have all the other Motherships, so can wait. Kind of disappointed with the mattes, so not worth it at full price.
Thank you for the swatches and eye looks. I have to say that the only thing that interests me about this palette are the shimmers. I agree with you about the mattes. Sooo many Dark colors that are not flattering to those of us with warmer skin tones. I’m one shade lighter skin tone wise than TaraLynn. Don’t any of you hate me about this next comment.. I did not think those matte shades looked good on TaraLynn. They gave her eyes a tired worn out look. Like she hadn’t gotten enough sleep. Not flattering at all. I find that the PM mothership palettes tend to have very dark matte colors and for me are difficult to blend. For this kind of money every single shadow should be usable shades. I always have to grab another pallet for a transition shade or to blend out one of the dark shades with these Mothership palettes. I learned my lesson about her palettes and if I find one that interests me I wait for a sale. I refuse to pay such a high price and not be able to use so many of the shadows. This particular palette is no different as far as deciding to purchase. Wait for a really good sale and see if I still am intrigued about the shimmers/special shades.

I'm not sure what she color she uses. She keeps it a secret lol. I need my grey covered, it's definitely popping through and the lights really pick it up🤪 I have her color it as close to my natural hair as possible. But, i can tell you I'm a level 4, and she adds a little gold to give it a shine. She uses the brand GK, but not sure of the exact color. 🥺 Sorry, wish I could give more❤️
Neutral doesn’t have to be boring! Not much versatility. The looks were so similar. Seems like a pretty limited palette. I recently purchased it on sale - 35% discount - simply to complete my Mothership collection.
That's a great price to pick it up. These days, I always recommend waiting for her to have a sale. They seem to do them often😁 The Mattes are a little dry, not my fav. I use the shimmers with other mattes, and it works❤️ thanks for watching. I hope you have a WONDERFUL holiday 🎁

For some reason I am not drawn to this palette at all. From all of the CZcams tutorials I’ve watched, there is no variety of looks you can get, they kinda looks the same . For the price of the palette and number of shades, there has to be more variety
I hate her mattes. They are way too pigmented for my taste, and way too dark for my skin color, even with a super light hand. I have never used one her palettes alone to create a look. I have to use one or two other palettes to get what I want. I am also so sick of seeing two shades of gold in her palettes. I have the Divine Rose palettes and the smaller six pan cardboard one and they all have too much gold. This is coming from a girl who loves to wear some gold based shimmer because it make my blue eyes look more blue. I want this one, but I am not paying full price for it. I saw her sneaky price raise too. The palettes used to be $125, now they are $128.
Yeah, I've always struggled with her mattes; they're not my favorite to use. They are so pigmented, one mistake, too much on your brush, and it's over, lol. 😉 and I agree, seems like all these brands are raising the price slowly🥺🥺

Sydney Grace makes a loose pigment called Pistol that is identical to the periwinkle shade for $6.00.

I'm definitely waiting for a sale, i do think Pat should of left out one of the pink shades and put a neutral brown in or even a green. There is definitely a learning curve with Pat's matte shades, thats why over all ND has the best formulas for me because i never struggle with them.

Pat McGrath Mothership Palettes intimidate me to the max! I have the first Mothership Palette and Divine Rose 1 but hardly ever use them. I want to use them so badly but I just get overwhelmed and scared that I’m going to make a hot mess. As such, this palette is an easy pass.
She definitely knows how to do those Shimmer shades. And I loved all the looks you did too.
Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple weeks. Very long story short, and after 2 Er visits, my sodium levels were at 120, dangerously low, and I had a severe infection in my knee. I was also septic, with the infection in my blood.
My knee was surgically drained, and I'm in a lot of pain. I'm on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks. I finally got to come home Wed afternoon, and a nurse comes to the house every day. I'm not watching a lot of CZcams, but when I'm up to it, I watch a couple of hours.

I like that fact that Pat makes eyeshadows for deep, deep-dark skintones. The earth need more makeup suited for woc.
Every Pat palette is awesome. It’s worth the price tag a 100% because of quality and the unique formula of every single eyeshadow.
Her dry pigmented mattes- I use them wet as an eyeliner! Works great

i don’t own any of her palettes but this would be the palette i would FINALLY get at some point because i loveeee cool tones and these shimmers are intense and beautifully cool toned. i actually even love the gold in this palette for once, but i would DEFINITELY stay away from the mattes as i’m a BEGINNING to this formula. i think your looks were beautiful, but that second look with the PERIWINKLE GOODNESS was gorgeous!!! i’m sold on this palette. i had a reallllly strong feeling that i was going to fall deep in love with this palette when i saw the promo photos, but i fell more in love with it after seeing it in person. ✨💜✨
The shimmers are absolutely beautiful, I love the cool tones in the palette. I plan to use other Mattes from now on🤪 Just too hard to use lol. My thoughts...beautiful palette ESPECIALLY the shimmers in this one (they had more umph) and actually had some cool tones. That said, I do NOT like the berry/coral mattes...They don't match the color story imo. I wish she would've included a blue and green or even another brown. My ONE wish: PMG-give up the warm pinks and golds PLEASE! It really could take her palettes from a 9 to a 12 imo. I found using the new Too Faced Shadow Insurance was the best eye primer to use with and didn't experience any patchyness. I really love the duo chrome on you! It works well as a transition shade too. My fav shade is Platinum Dusk with the Celestial. Loved look #2! 🥰
I'm with you Tara. In particular, I feel like the brown paired with the berry shades quickly becomes a "bruised eye." Ya know something I learned, I used to struggle with deeper/more pigmented mattes too and what I found is that bc I was intimidated, I barely dipped into the shade and it caused some patchyness/issues with blending. Once I started using more pigment (not a ton, but "enough") it blended out perfectly paired with my natural hair brushes (Wayne G/Sonia G). Just something I tried and wanted to share in case it helps you. Told myself don't be scared 😂 Love your reviews so much! 💕

Agree about the Matt shades. I kind of went into buying this pallet knowing I wouldn’t love the Mattes. I wish there was at least ONE neutral brown. Those shimmers are so complementary for a brown matte. They just are. We have had so many pallets with purple mauve mattes from her, I wish she would give us one good base brown to work with. I will forever have to bring in a second opinion for a matte. Funny this is I reached for the same KKW pallet as you when using this pallet a few days ago 😆 it’s just super convenient. Anyway, thanks my love.

I'm passing on this one. I'd love her to create a palette with 5 mattes and 5 shimmers (no pinky tones allowed 😉). Even 4 mattes would've opened up this creative possibilities of this palette.

I literally just commented it's a beautiful palette but I don't like the mattes and wish she would've done a blue green brown or even yes purple. Literally any other colors lol. It just doesn't match the rest of the palette imo. No more pinkish and gold shades...

Because more often sensitive eyes and the price went up to 155 euro's plus shipping to The Netherlands. I heard from Michele that the special shades are not baked, mostly easier, i thought, maybe in sale. But, disappointed as i am for 2 matte pinks in 1 expensive palette, and i hear you talking about the mattes, thanks Tara, because this is a no and will be a no. I'm 52 now, and have almost all her eyeshadow work, i have so much to choose from still!!! That new ABH palette you also showed, i really loved. But Anastasia herself seems to support Putin. Now it's in my drawer, i first wait until i see more news about her, don't want to judge to quicly, but this palette and the terrible war on our beautiful continent, Tara, not a match. About this PMG palette, gorgeous on you, gorgeous on people with deeper complexion than yours!!!! For people like me, with light to medium complexon: i am used to take only 2 shades from such a palette, sometimes 3, otherwise i look like a Christmas Tree. I admire Pat, but getting a colourstory that is to cool for me with 2 pink mattes, and very very pigmented mattes, no. If she would come with only a quad with the 4 special shades, i t would be a yes, i think. And looking forward to my new Suqqu quads!!! Tara I couldn't agree more with you. I let a review in Pat's youtube channel the latest video she posted. I hope she gets to read it and take a constructive feedback given these palettes are so pricey yet not for all skin tones and not all ages. Women over 40 can rarely wear super glittery and such prominent shadows in daily basis, yet they are the ones that can pay for such hefty priced palettes if that makes any sense. In Switzerland where I live this palette sells for roughly USD 145 equivalent which is a lot. Pat needs to decide who is her target market and adjust the color stories, quality, shade variety, formula but more importantly the price to that target group. My honest opinion. Thank you for this video though, loved the first and last look you came up with.

Honestly most of looks I've seen from this palette look the same. All reddish pink crease combined with frosty shadows. I really wish she would come out with some non-pink/red undertone matte shadows.

As much as I love the duochrome shade, I would use it once and never again. It’s too showy, it’s too much of a statement, and I’m generally more afraid of bold shimmers than bold mattes.
I really like the look of this palette and I'll buy it at some stage but yeah it will be a get it on sale deal for me. I might've been convinced to fomo buy if those mattes were neutral browns instead of mauve/purple which I have in abundance especially from PML. Side note... that useless hourglass infinity powder everyone hates is really good for blending lines into the brow bone if you still have it 🤣

Would you recommend Utopian mothership palette over the new Moonlit seduction palette? I am trying to decide between these two palettes?
It all depends on if you wear colorful shimmers more than regular shimmers. If you do, then you'll love Huetopian Dream, if you don't, I would recommend the Moonlit Seduction 😁 The Mattes have similar tones, but it's the shimmers that are different 😁❤️ Hope that helps💕
Tara, you may not be a MUA but I appreciate your reviews about makeup (I'm not one either). Purples are difficult to formulate and I'm sad that that shade was patchy. Personally look to luxury or high end makeup for user friendliness and easy glam looks, and one of the only three mattes underperforming is def an issue!

Love the looks you did. I just don't think i can get on board with this palette. On camera the first two looks seem so similar, i know you used different shimmer shades but they just looked so similar. I can't justify spending this much for a palette that will give me looks that are so similar. I really wish Pat would venture into different mutichrome shadows. The Sexstacy shade here reminds me of the one in that quad (it was a blue to redish shift)

For me, this is far from boring, but I'm someone who reached for the same neutral Chanel quad for aaaages and literally just got into the pinky with hint of red tones (which everyone else seems to be tired of) THIS YEAR 😂 it's late, so maybe I missed the name, but **if you could share the name of that backup pallete of mattes (abh which would an Anastasia?) I'd be very grateful 🙏** you're gorgeous, btw and very talented. I definitely think this collection can be magical on fair skin, too, aside from that difficult plum - proven esp by looks 1 and 3. Probably won’t happen until the holidays or right after. You have to wait a bit for new stuff to go on sale. I have all the other Motherships, so can wait. Kind of disappointed with the mattes, so not worth it at full price.
Thank you for the swatches and eye looks. I have to say that the only thing that interests me about this palette are the shimmers. I agree with you about the mattes. Sooo many Dark colors that are not flattering to those of us with warmer skin tones. I’m one shade lighter skin tone wise than TaraLynn. Don’t any of you hate me about this next comment.. I did not think those matte shades looked good on TaraLynn. They gave her eyes a tired worn out look. Like she hadn’t gotten enough sleep. Not flattering at all.
I find that the PM mothership palettes tend to have very dark matte colors and for me are difficult to blend. For this kind of money every single shadow should be usable shades. I always have to grab another pallet for a transition shade or to blend out one of the dark shades with these Mothership palettes. I learned my lesson about her palettes and if I find one that interests me I wait for a sale. I refuse to pay such a high price and not be able to use so many of the shadows. This particular palette is no different as far as deciding to purchase. Wait for a really good sale and see if I still am intrigued about the shimmers/special shades.

I'm not sure what she color she uses. She keeps it a secret lol. I need my grey covered, it's definitely popping through and the lights really pick it up🤪 I have her color it as close to my natural hair as possible. But, i can tell you I'm a level 4, and she adds a little gold to give it a shine. She uses the brand GK, but not sure of the exact color. 🥺 Sorry, wish I could give more❤️
Neutral doesn’t have to be boring! Not much versatility. The looks were so similar. Seems like a pretty limited palette. I recently purchased it on sale - 35% discount - simply to complete my Mothership collection.
That's a great price to pick it up. These days, I always recommend waiting for her to have a sale. They seem to do them often😁 The Mattes are a little dry, not my fav. I use the shimmers with other mattes, and it works❤️ thanks for watching. I hope you have a WONDERFUL holiday 🎁

For some reason I am not drawn to this palette at all. From all of the CZcams tutorials I’ve watched, there is no variety of looks you can get, they kinda looks the same . For the price of the palette and number of shades, there has to be more variety

I hate her mattes. They are way too pigmented for my taste, and way too dark for my skin color, even with a super light hand. I have never used one her palettes alone to create a look. I have to use one or two other palettes to get what I want. I am also so sick of seeing two shades of gold in her palettes. I have the Divine Rose palettes and the smaller six pan cardboard one and they all have too much gold. This is coming from a girl who loves to wear some gold based shimmer because it make my blue eyes look more blue. I want this one, but I am not paying full price for it. I saw her sneaky price raise too. The palettes used to be $125, now they are $128.
Yeah, I've always struggled with her mattes; they're not my favorite to use. They are so pigmented, one mistake, too much on your brush, and it's over, lol. 😉 and I agree, seems like all these brands are raising the price slowly🥺🥺
