Well you know I've seen that thing in the back of my dryer but nobody ever told me I was supposed to open that! I clean the lint out of the thing on the top! 🤯
Wendy, not cleaning the lint trap after every load of clothes is setting you up for a scenario involving your home burning to the ground. It is exceedingly important to clean that out after every load. You are very lucky that your home has not caught on fire.
That was a good question! There’s obviously different manufacturer set ups! Ours is ole school up top! Some are inside the front door at the base! This one is different! Inside at the back wall!(it’s a dual washer dryer)! My daughters were in an apartment with one like this!🤔😲👋🏻
I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up burning the heating element out but usually the high limit safety thermostat will kick the heating element off once it gets to 180F (at least on these Whirlpool 24” dryers) before that has a chance to happen. Sometimes the high limit safety thermostat can get weak causing long dry times, had that happen on my Kenmore portable 24” dryer since it kept kicking the heating element off and not allowing it to heat up properly which had to have the timer set to 100 minutes and as soon as I replaced the high limit thermostat, the drying time was reduced to about 70 to 80 minutes.
I have that same unit- if I had that much lint in my trap I'd either be running the drier twice just to get clothes dry, or drying things two at a time 😭
Every washing or dryer clean your filters. Specially drier machines filters if not clean one day get fire . Specially in marine and cruises Every year they clean extract duct of laundry drier . SAFETY FIRST. FROM INDIA 🇮🇳 ❤
I don’t understand why people don’t know it’s supposed to be cleaned? I do it about once a month in the summer because we tend to put clothes out to dry, in winter more because we use it more. I think it’s quite a therapeutic thing to do
One hour of clogged dryer vents!

Wow, Ive never seen a trap like that
When I open a client's dryer and show them the huge collection of lint, 7 out of 10 times they say, "Oh, we always clean it out every single time."
Why do people not even look at what may be wrong with their dryers? I love cleaning lint out of mine. I would love to do your job!!
Yum
