    Great song Troy, never realized it was so easy. Are you using some echo on the vocals at the chorus? Sounds good 👍🏼.

      Hey Mr. Peak, I use a TC Helicon Harmony GXT on the chorus. It gives the effect of another person harmonizing with you. I did a gear run down video a while back and I touch on it a little. If your interested, I’ve provided a link for you to watch it.

    So awesome. I remember this song feels like 40 years ago.

      Not quite 40 years, 1979/80. A fun song to play live. Everyone knows how to sing the chorus!

    I remember the original version. The song enticed me to try my first pina colada. Not a fan of the drink, but still a good song! Thanks for posting Troy!

    Great song. Can you please explain the strumming pattern. I think it d-d--u-udu. Idk

      Hey dee Tee, thanks for your inquiry. I strum it like this….
      D, U, U, D, U, D, U, U, D. You could also strum…
      D, D, U, D, U, D, D, U, D.
      It doesn’t really matter, either works as long as you have the rhythm down! Good luck!

      Thank you Troy. This is very helpful. Great singing btw.

    Good to have you back, Troy. Hey what is your bread and butter go to harmony for your songs. Is it just High, or is it High and Higher or Low and High etc? I am using TC Helicon Perform VG and they have multiple choices. Sounds great.

    • @myacousticlounge
      @myacousticlounge  Před 2 lety

      This is a great question. I normally have the Harmony set to high. It really depends on your individual singing style. If you naturally sing in a lower key, then a high(er) setting would be best for the Harmony. However, I perform some songs with a high and a low setting. It really depends on the song.

    What are you using for a vocal harmonizer?

    Strumming pattern?

    • @myacousticlounge
      @myacousticlounge  Před rokem

      Hi, and thank you for your question. Strumming can be challenging to teach. Most of my tutorials are a 4/4 - 8th note strumming pattern. This great song is loosely…..
      ⬇️⬇️⬆️⬆️⬇️⬆️⬇️ repeat
      In many cases, the strumming pattern can change in a song when transitioning from verses to choruses. I personally incorporate a number of muted slap strums, variations and nuances, unique to me when I Strum cords. It’s not always consistently the same throughout the song and it’s not always the same as the original. Keep in mind, there’s no right or wrong way to strum chords to a particular song.
      What’s important is learning the general rhythm. As you practice and get the general rhythm of a song down your trying to learn, you’ll find variations and nuances that work for you.
      Once you find the general rhythm you can make any 8th note strumming pattern variation work for just about any song.

      Hey Lobster Oftheisland, thank you for taking the time to write and comment. I appreciate it. Your actually not the first one to make that comment. My cover is inspired by Jack Johnson’s version of this great song, not the original by Rupert Holmes. Check Jack Johnson’s lyrics, you’ll see where I was going with the song. Hope to hear from you again!

    This version lacks the punch of the original song. It might be OK for busking.

      I think you’ve made a common mistake here Mr. Gilbert… if you had actually read my description of this video, you see my tutorial is based off of Jack Johnson version, not the original by Rupert Holmes. Jack Johnson’s version is played with just two chords.

      Hahaha! Well I take it you didn’t care for my take on this great song Mr. Pajkovski.. So far, 119 thumbs up would suggest other viewers disagree with you comment.
      With that, I appreciate all feedback. Because my channel is for learning perhaps you’d care to elaborate a bit more on you comment for others to learn from? What don’t you like? Why? And how would you play it differently? Easy to leave a negative comment no, no noooo stop… now I’m encouraging you to add a little weight to what you’ve written!
