- The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy may have defeated the mighty Thanos, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in Phase 4, it’s that the MCU still has plenty of bad guys to go around. We’re about to meet another major villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a sequel that introduces Chukwudi Iwuji’s character The High Evolutionary.
Now that the first Guardians 3 trailer has arrived, let’s take a closer look at this long-standing Marvel villain as well as the strange planet known as Counter-Earth, and learn why he could play a key role in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. This is our Guardians of the Galaxy 3 trailer breakdown!
Pretty much everything you need to know about The High Evolutionary is right there in the name. Basically the Dr. Moreau of the Marvel Universe, The High Evolutionary is a brilliant geneticist who’s obsessed with advancing the human race at all costs. His unholy super-science has given rise to a new breed of human/animal hybrids known as New Men, along with all sorts of other twisted science experiments.
Additionally, the first Guardians Vol. 3 trailer opens with the team making another trip to Earth, following up on Drax and Mantis’ last field trip in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. However, something is clearly wrong with this world, and it quickly becomes clear the Guardians aren’t on Earth at all, but Counter-Earth.
Counter-Earth is the High Evolutionary’s other signature creation. This artificial replica of Earth is meant to be a paradise where Wyndham can pursue his unholy experiments, free from the prying eyes and pesky morals of humanity. Counter-Earth is an almost exact mirror of the regular Earth. It even orbits on the exact opposite side of the Sun. The twist is that time moves very differently on Counter-Earth, allowing Wyndham to speed up his evolutionary experiments.

in the comics, the High Evolutionary was involved in the origin story of the Maximoff twins
he abducted Wanda and Pietro shortly after they were born, prompting their mother, Scarlet Witch Anya Maximoff, to battle him, Anya apparently perished in that fight, though not by the High Evolutionary's hand, but by the hand of the father of her children, and the High Evolutionary must have been impressed by Anya's maternal instincts, so he returned Wanda and Pietro to Anya's sister, but he implanted in the minds of the Maximoff twins the thought that they were mutants, so they wouldn't question how they had powers, especially Wanda, who had inherited her mother's magic and would succeed her as Scarlet Witch

In the more recent comics, they've made it so Pietro and Wanda are Magnetos kids again. They've made it in a way that no future writer can remove it.
to be fair, who isn't involved with the origin story of the Maximoff twins at this point. Their origin story has made so many changes that practically everyone's had a hand in their birth or creation at some point lmao

The only characters that stay dead in the Comic Books are Batman's parents, and Uncle Ben.
They could still use the soul stone technically considering how you have to obtain it maybe it can’t be destroyed maybe it just goes back to where it belongs
Also, in the MCU the Infinity Stones weren't destroyed, they were atomized. Since their radiation still exists in the MCU a skilled engineer/scientist could collect the radiation to re-form the stones.
In Loki there were so many infinity stones that they weren’t even valuable so another soul stone could come from there

So the Guardians of the Galaxy will go to Counter Earth, which is Earth in an Alternate universe in Spider-Man Unlimited. The High Evolutionary was a scientist named Herbert Windham who was inspired by the work of Nathaniel Essex AKA Mr Sinister, a Long time X-Men villain.
We better get a spider man unlimited cameo or reference.

He literally does still-alive taxidermy work on animals to “evolve” them, and he himself is disfigured under that stretched face.

Just so everyone is aware. Marvel has made it so Pietro and Wanda are Magnetos kids again. They've made it so no future writer can undo it. So now Magneto is the father of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch and that is how it will now stay
