Sooo, It's been about 12 months and some change since the FN2 got a bigger & beefier heart. In that time, I have done two road trips, a ew car shows, a track day and a bunch of k24 filled commuting :).
What has it been like? Well, tune in to find out but I will say, I have ZERO regrets. But like with everything, it's not without it's drawbacks.
If you have any questions about this build, please feel free to check the videos of I've done on this build and also other supporting mods and changes found in the playlist below:
• Clutch Change On My FN...
Don't forget, sharing is caring and liking the videos really does a lot for me in knowing when i'm getting the right kind of videos y'all wanna see!
And if you're new, Sub up. It's free and I do have some fun stuff in the pipeline ;).
Peace!

i been following your journey with much enthusiasm. You have a terrific outcome . and considering others ive chatted with who have gone gone down the turbo/charged route , they either sold their cars eventually or have overun the traction abilities of a classic FWD car, to the point that they are only WOT and pulling in 3rd or 4 th gears. i have a Fn2 with classic mods dynoed at 227BHP. Yes it is very enjoyable , but it is lacking torque i find. which is why im so curious with your channel.
**Do you have the 0 to 100KPH time now with K24 ? do you have a quarter mile time and final MPH now?**
id love to know what those figures are.
great content , thanks for being transparent and the offering to help us if we need to pick yer brain. Its much appreciated. Enjoy and lookinmg forward to your next vid.
This comment has made my month man, it's why I started the channel. I nearly sold this car recently but it's just waaaaayyy to enjoyable and too good.
Boosted cars are fun for sure, and I'll never slate them as they are beasts in their own league, BUT the immediate power, torque, noise and character of the the build is soooo invigorating that it you end up being obsessed with pushing the car, and the car wants it haha.
I don't have the stats you're after but maybe I can do a run and have it down somewhere - it's significantly faster for sure though 😅
Whereabouts are you located?
@@jsdriveway greetings from DownUnder mate (Australia) . even if you could do a video on performance and get some G-timing meter( eg racelogic box) and do some runs down an empty road would be cool.
“You start picking up speed and you don’t feel like your doin, until you look at the Speedo and your like… that’s my license” realist thing I ever heard!😂
great build mate, very clean car, was good to see this in person and have a chat mate. 🤙🏻🔥
Appreciated my dude. Hopefully more linkups in person 🙌🏾🫡
Great vid mate, thanks for the shout out! Totally agree with your pro’s and con’s, originally thought I was getting over 50mpg to start with in mine😂 definitely don’t cheap out on spec, everything little bit counts on these.
💯 agree, I couldn’t go back to a stock n/a K20 again, Frank build is a huuugggeee game changer.
I’ve still got mine for now though, still for sale but not been pushing it lately😂
Yeah the MPG thing made me think my car was even more economical hahaha.
The grunt from the K24 has deffo spoilt me. It's a big big game changer indeed. Whoever buys yours will be getting a beast for sure!!!
I had a standard fn2 for 2 years loved it, then had to sell due to buying a house funds needed lol, then 2 years on I brought another with hsk induction kit, japspeed 421 mainfold, 3inch TDI north catback system, mapped by Paul west vtec coming in at 4k, 230bhp 165lb torque and honestly it drives amazing and feels like more then enough power and great fun to drive, drop down a gear and overtake people no darma, so I can't even imagine what 282bhp with 210lb torque must feel like awesome build mate well done.
I appreciate the love, it goes a long way.
Yes I ran my car on standard power for nearly 4 years and LOVED it. But as everything else I wanted to address and make better on the car was done, it made sense for me to look at power but to keep the cars nature as much as I could at the same time. The Frank DEFINITELY does this on my opinion. It's fast but very fun still without being obnoxious for a FWD car, and, most importantly, it's making all that power from the engine, meaning there's no lag. It's all there immediately when I want it and it's usable power in the corners.
Win win lool
love your build! I just got a FN2 as a project car last month. So far I have had to do the driveshafts, aux belt and pulleys, and give it a good service. Next up is doing the timing chain then hopefully I can then move on to doing so fun mods
Thanks for the compliment, it goes a long way 🫡
And yes, maintenance before mods all damn day!! Once you do get to mods though, it's endless with these cars hahaha.
Do you know what kind of build you're going for?
@jsdriveway i plan to build it, so it's great for blasting down the back roads, but it's still practical to drive each day. I think once all the maintenance is done, i will fit either a set of hsd coilovers or the tein ones. I had HSDs monopros on my last car, and they were amazing, but i have also heard good reviews over the tein equivalent ones, so im still deciding.
@allidonald-munro9871 TEIN ones are fantastic. Genuinely feels great over the road, and also offer great performance.
You can also put something called an EDFC on it that allows automatic dampening as you drive. I have a video on it that's on an FN
Love the music selection Joe , many content creators ignore how important sound selection is - yours is always on point 😎
I appreciate that, I do try and pay great attention to the music in the vids as it can make or break a video for sure
Very Nice Man ☺☺☺
It's ready for boost!!!
🤣🤣🤣
In terms of reliability and mpg I've had my fn2 supercharged to 340hp for 6 years now and no engine issues at all. They do take it quite easily. As for mpg I only average 24mpg but can get 36mpg if I really try. I had a supercharged dc5 before at 320hp and with same size fuel tank as fn2 I could squeeze 400 miles out of a tank full. When it was na I managed 445 to a tank which worked out around 45mpg.
445 miles to a tank is an achievement and then some!! I hope I can do that hahaha
😎
Been on k24/20 since 20,000km and its greatt
Best and reliable power by far. Honestly it's sooo good
Thinking of doing K24, I've got all the k20 breathing mods but the torque is seriously lacking. I have always wanted a boosted K20 so I'm a bit worried I'm going to go K24 and be disappointed.
Boosted is a different beast. Without a doubt, the boosted route is faster, but the K24 power is instant power every time. Not to say the superchargers and Turbos have the worst lag in the world because that's not true, but if you're looking for the best power and torque outputs via the NA route, I can only suggest a K24
Hi J great vid, so you’d recommend doing the k24 build even without putting on all the bolt ons right away, instead putting the bolt ons on over time? Depending on available budget of course
You’ll still benefit from the higher torque figures without the bolt ons, and likely sit around 255/265bhp but it’s actually cheaper in the long run to have all the parts and map once rather than adding to it and tweaking the map each time.
If you’re thinking of cams, oil pump then definitely do them while building the engine.
Exactly what Mike says. You can still make a big pick up on torque and power without bolt ons, but it makes the most sense to add bolt ons whilst the engine is being stripped as that will literally cut your mapping and labours costs down.
This is why I went for doing the build all in one shot. It didn't make sense to me to get a manifold, map the car then get intake system, then a map - so on and so forth.
Patience saves you a lot of money!!
@@jsdriveway thanks, also did you get a baffled sump with your fd2 oil pump? I’m thinking of getting the pump but not sure if the sump is worth it on top as I won’t be taking my car on any track days in the future just daily driving and the occasional b-road bash.
@CK-kb5zv I did get the clockwise sump but only for track days. If I didn't do trackday, I wouldn't have got it, it's not worth it then.
@@jsdriveway ahh ok thanks for clearing that up, and so the fd2 oil pump without the clockwise sump is perfectly fine if check oil regularly and plan to only use my car on the road? 🤝🏾
Gonna have to try it 👀😂 where are you located? Just wondering incase im ever near or passing lol
Hahaha, I'm in Hertfordshire sir
@@jsdriveway well then. I guess I won't be anytime soon lol. Might be heading london or essex somewhere beginning of may.
Is there nothing that can be done about the computer mpg thing?
From the research and questions I've asked to multiple people, no unfortunately.
But, and I genuinely mean this, it doesn't bug me. The mileage counter to the tank that I reset after any kind of refill is accurate. I only know this because I do the same journeys now as I did with the standard injectors and it's identical on long Eco runs. But you will see that needle drop when flooring it for periods of time, believe that lool!
Did you try some k24 Frank with stock cams to compare with the dc dic cams? I have a k24 accord with k20z4 intake cams making 250/260hp and I would like to know if the dc cams are a worth it upgrade!
I didn't unfortunately. I went straight to the dcs man sorry. It's be interesting to see how it'd affect the K24 for sure though
Why a K20Z head? I thought it was the K20A2???
The FN2 comes with the K20Z4 engine, so I just took the head from that for the Frank build :)
does your car have lsd? I dunno if i missed it
Yes it does from factory - it's a 2011 model :)
