Saharan blues existed before all of those, fyi. This is where the blues came from, although the blues really was born in the southern US, all these rhythms and melodies were Saharan and sub-Saharan before they were the blues. Now they've just got modern western instruments.

Having ancestry from the Horn, it’s so dope to hear the brothers from the other side of the Sahel. In my family, they’re big fans of Ali Farka Toure, Tirawen, Habib (forgot his last name), bc the vocal styling and pentatonic scale sounds soooooo similar to folk music from parts of the Horn. And the video reminds me so much of African music videos that we’d see when we were young. But even the ancestry aside, me personally being a music nerd, I love this sound! Having ancestry from the Horn, it’s so dope to hear the brothers from the other side of the Sahel. In my family, they’re big fans of Ali Farka Toure, Tirawen, Habib (forgot his last name), bc the vocal styling and pentatonic scale sounds soooooo similar to folk music from parts of the Horn. And the video reminds me so much of African music videos that we’d see when we were young. But even the ancestry aside, me personally being a music nerd, I love this sound!
