The brand name is useless. It might be somewhat useful for your first job. But what you do with your life and how successful you are in your career has nothing to do with the university you attend. I have hired a Kansas State guy over a Stanford guy and it was pretty much based on their skills and aptitude. This has happened many times. The best choice of university is the one that allows you to finish the fastest with minimal debt. Your work experience is lot more valuable than the brand name university. I have a close friend who is a CEO at a decent sized start up in Silicon Valley who has only a BE from Osmania University... Makes so much money, doesn’t know what to do with it. His wife went to Carnegie Mellon and is a house wife. If you are getting a full rider from a name brand university, then sure. But I would never recommend it, if you are going to pay from your pocket!!

I do agree that brand gives you an upper edge in opportunities but education is education, its just the bloody name which we are paying for and if I am being able to live a happy life by not overburdening myself with debt and luxury, I am happy being a cost cutter!

Great video Parth Sir! I am currently in the same dilemma too. I want to do Undergrad in CS in US but I am from a lower middle class family. My parents can barely even afford the cost of IIT and BITS Pilani is out of reach of theirs. In this situation, they cant even think about affording a US Undergrad. So I am aiming for near 100% scholarship which is only given in the top most universities which are really hard to get into. So I found Universities like UT Dallas which give huge amount of scholarships to international students.
I plan to do my masters straight after that, and maybe I can look for better brand Master's degree after my Undergrad in CS if I am debt free or in a better financial situation or just continue my Master's in CS at UTD itself which I hope I can secure a Research Assistantship in my Master's through the work I did in my Undergrad.
What do you think of this plan? Waiting for Part 2. Thanks!

Wow! Glad i came across this. Your point of view i.e upto what extent brand value can help is worth appreciating!
I'm in the same dilemma currently. Confused between 2 admits for MS Finance Spring 2022.
    a) Bentley University
    b) University of Utah
The 1 yr estimated tuition for both is almost the same. But Bentley has given a 20% scholarship while Utah has given approx 50% (The actual difference in cost comes to approx $15000 considering the scholarship). I'm not very sure about which is a better brand here but definitely University of Utah can make me debt free real quick compared to Bentley.
But on the flip side, Bentley is in Boston which is one of the best places for a Finance degree with its close proximity to New York, hence more job opportunities.
I have 3 yrs of work experience. Would love to hear your opinions on this!
Keeping creating great content. It has really helped :)

I think the coursework at Cincinnati is more technical so might help me better while searching jobs but at the same time, the brand value of Purdue is excellent and Cincinnati stands nowhere when compared to Purdue. Yes and no. Depending on which course you are planning to do as well.
Let's say you are going to Dartmouth college with a philosophy degree, it will be really difficult to recoup your money. I absolutely agree with your brand value approach. I am reaping the benefits of purdue's brand name. But let's say I would have gone to stanford maybe with my degree and course it wouldn't have made too much difference.

On the other hand I got in University of Florida , MS in management. It is half the expenses of NYU. Also the duration of program is one year. I do not have to take loan if I choose UF.
