Them separating from favorite is the best move they could have made. It definitely hurt their brand in my opinion. Favorite has such a bad reputation among fishermen.
He was using a St. Croix Avid X 6'6" to sling his jerkbait. He was using a Dobyns Champion XP for flipping. He was using a Shimano Tranx 300 reel and a Shimano Expride rod for his big swimbait rod. That's all I could see from this video, though.

Good stuff right there. I like how it took about 30 seconds for Jon to enter the Zen mode after realizing how big the bass was. He stopped talking and was almost whispering. Classic. That’s when you know it’s a good fish!

Champion definitely built up hype in the last few years. We use it more so for the Quality over other generic tee shirt brands. But 100% agree with you on seeing it back in the day at TJ Maxx and K Mart and thinking less of it.

One important thing about fishing in cold water is reeling slow
Since the water is cold, the fishes are "stiff" and wont be able to smack in the lures as easily.
I live in finland and the water tempature is about 5-10 degree celsius.

After a long day in California of online work. I hoped to go fishing. My dad, two sisters, brother, brother in law, and pit bull came to a local hidden river that is the heaven. I had my favorite crankbait. It was beautiful for sunny days and infiltrating beds. I caught a few bass and three sunfish. I kept fishing. The light still out penetrating the trees. The day almost over. The sun going down. I caught a few more bass. "One more cast" I said. Everyone wanted to leave. "One more cast, One more cast. " Everyone was mad as I kept fishing on and was the only fisherman at the small river. I said the last "One more cast" before my life flashed before my eyes. Mind you the pitbull was the nicest 6 month year old dog out there. My family sent his strong fury of cuteness at me. As I was in the middle of a cast the power of the dog forced me into the river. He hopped out the water and my family laughed. I reeled in and found the crankbait snagged high in a tree. I tried hard to get it back. My family said they would leave me there. I was so sad. I yanked as hard as possible and it broke off. I dropped to my knees in sorrow. I jumped in the car. I hoped it would get in the mouth of a bird.
