I get your logic and I must admit, it *enfuriated* me as well when I first found out that boosted boards are illegal here and there (not only in NY or Cal but also, for example, in Amsterdam). I did a little research and the thing is that a boosted board has no safe way to employ breaks and if you were to want to use your breaks, you probably still would have a chance (whether big or small) of colliding with the object/person/vehicle infront of you.. At first I did not want to give a f***, but think about it. Perhaps where there is a division between walkers/joggers and bikes/skateboards it _IS_ ridiculous to try to enforce such law _(which was meant, as Casey said, for literal motor-strapped boards)_ in those parts. But I think it is smart to partially enforce this law inside of the city where there is narrow paths and it is actually harder for you to have a wider spectrum of what's going to be infront of you and where you won't have much time to use your breaks, stop or react even (for your own safety and that of the others). But that's just my point of view; so please, don't get offended (I love longboarding).
edit: All of the above, taking under account that the boosted board allegedly surpassed a dangerous speed, where it would be dangerous to stop at a short distance. Ergo, I'm with all of you since it *is* stupid.

There is a difference between a motorized vehicle on a sidewalk vs a highway. You don't see cars driving on sidewalks and you don't see people walking on highways. Use logic PLEASE!
@@narclos2678 a motor vehicle this boosted board is not. At least in my state it isnt, your "vehicle" be it self made or not, must pass an emissions test (electric) done. Then it must go at least 25 miles per hour under it's own power source (not done) Even the faster boosted stealth that goes 24 mph is just under the cusp of what's legally defined a motor vehicle. It's just an electric skateboard, with no more ability or restrictions than an electric bicycle, you don't need a seat belt. And if you're above a certain age (my state law again) you don't need to wear a helmet when riding

And he even pointed out how there's the freeway, the bike lane, then a walking /jogging path closer to the water. He was on a bike path here, where I'm assuming plenty of other electric bikes/boards ride all the time. Maybe the city sees people shelling out 600-1500 bucks for an electric skateboard/bike and thinks if they make a ridiculous law they can make some money of of them. A 500 dollar summons for a bike path "infraction"? I've heard lower payouts for a speeding ticket with a several thousand pound car, seems a bit silly
