Dallin and friends go on a road trip! This time it's to the St. Anthony Idaho sand dunes. Polaris Pro R, Can Am RC, YXZ 1000, and the Turbo S take on the dunes. Lots of fun jumps, big bowls, biggest dune climb, and as always so good old racing! We are always looking for new friends to ride with! Email us at desertsxs@gmail.com and we will make a plan. Did that on a Kawasaki 700 V-Force---No problem up---But down was way more scary---The V-Force is automatic trans and no engine breaking---To get a little help you have to give it a little throttle to engage the gears, but that only lasts a short distance until you are going too fast for the lower gears and you are free wheeling with the brakes or just pinning it and throttling out. Up had my fronts off the ground from about 3/4 to top. Going around the rim of D's Bowl at full speed was a major pucker up for me. Great time---Good Video
My Faverate dunes !! The short run shoot on the far right I have climbed many times there is only like a 20 foot run !! In all the times I've been there and climbed it there has never been another track and I have never seen anyone else top it ! It's only for bikes ! I ride a CR 500 !!! KICK OF THAT DUNE !!! HAHAHAH !😁
Went up it pretty easy with a pro xp on a good paddle setup this past weekend. Sand condition makes a big difference as well. As far as "biggest", there are taller sand hills out west, but Choke Cherry is among the steepest.
Ya glamis has big ones and Utah also but choke is one of the more difficult ones
Agreed that Choke is one of the most difficult. Here is a bit of dune trivia, China Wall (Glamis) is listed @ 300 feet, Choke Cherry (Idaho) is listed @ 400 feet, but some say 500 feet, Sand Mountain (Nevada) is listed a 600 feet and Sand Mountain (Utah) is listed @ 700 feet. But they are all wee little things compared to the tallest in the world. Located in Argentina is a dune that comes in @ a staggering 4,035 feet!!! Does this make me a dune nerd haha?!!!

You almost made it to the big one, choke cherry is a good test but go on west to devils and that will be the best test at st.anthony.. Absolute wonderful place..

Choke is a crazy steep hill bigger and steeper than anything I’ve been up in Glamis. That place all together is rad!! I spent a week there last summer it was amazing. Long drive from SoCal tho but not to bad.
Ya the drive there was brutal but some of my favorite dunes
in the 80's and 90's it was steep because it was covered in plant roots holding it steeper than 45Degrees. since sandsport's wouldn't shut up about it, and now social media have made duning 1000 times more popular, choke cherry is no longer special it's no steeper than any of the other north faces in idaho in fact its shallower because it see's traffic every day. the illusion is the damn woops at the base. as a matter of fact 10 years ago there wasn't a damned parking lot at the bottom. when I started riding in 91 choke had a 40' run and there was only a handfull of lines... this dune has been destroyed.

Choke is a good size hill my x3 will pull 40mph up it in 2wd. On stage 5 e85. The bowl you call big bowl is devils dune! St Anthony is a awesome place to ride lots bigger than glamis. Bigger hills not area. And at 5000’ it’s cinda a power robber. The sand is softer that glamis too
But all in all the 2 bests places to dune imo glamis and st Anthony

Went to St Anthony this year too. First time. Choke was pretty cool. Managed it easy in 4. Should have tried in 2

Haha, this popped up again so I had to watch. I've been back. Hit Choke again in 2. Breezed up pretty easily. Tire setup and momentum make a huge difference I think. I hit it fast

@@desertsxs yes sir, it looked like the sand was really dry. We were there in august of last year a few days after the monsoon moisture left the area. That hill was tough’
RZR 800 wasn't invented yet last time I was there. Choke was for Lt500s and Banshee's back then.

@@desertsxs I run Glamis alot with an x3. I think the best bet is to talk to some of the people who have a lot of experience there, the sand is a little different everywhere. I would say running a skat trak 12-paddle demon on that x3 is good. Every machine is a little different. The people who sell them in the area usually know what works best.
