I have been looking for a clip showing "I know I'm talking. I recognize my voice." for something like 15 years. Then, this morning CZcams drops it into my lap. Thank you Dave Kurtz and CZcams!
It's just a scene on a roof that many films have done, but I don't know what it is about this scene that shows the skyline looking so realistic and spectacular. You feel like you're on the roof with them.
The comic chemistry of these two actors rarely is found in the cinema world. The odd couple movie is underrated probably because it is technically a re-make of a classic show but they really nailed it.
Jack Lemmon gets a lot of credit, and righfully so. He was a tremendous, versatile actor. But, Matthau is equally brilliant and versatile. His Oscar Madison is one of the great comedic performances of all time. Imho. As well as many other great roles; The Fortune Cookie, A Face in the Crowd, Taking of Pelham, one, two, three, The Laughing Policeman, The Sunshine Boys, etc.
Every one of his roles is treasure. My favorite is probably The Sunshine Boys, but I love that you mention A Face In The Crowd, he's the perfect actor for that closing scene with the also-brilliant Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal (they all should've gotten awards, the whole movie is genius)... but Matthau, yessir. His turn in Fail-Safe is pretty stellar too.
At one time, New York had the most polluted air in the country. They filmed that scene on a hot, muggy day in July 1967. That appears to be the Henry Hudson Parkway and you can't even see the George Washington Bridge.
Yes- I've been also noticing that on watching my DVDs of Columbo (LA). Good to know that's gotten better!! Yuck! Even notice it on the Streets of San Francisco when they're likely facing south... I'm here in San Jose and was then. We were all breathing that lovely stuff. Joy! 🤯
My family has a running joke on this, generally going something like: "Are you sure this is still ok to eat?" "Yeah, I'm sure". "Ok.... well... if I get sick and throw up, let it be on your head" 😆
Walter Matheau and Jack Lemmon played excellent roles as Oscar Madison and Felix Unger in The Odd Couple! They were almost as funny as Jack Klugman and Tony Randall! It's a shame that all four actors are no longer with us!
Remembering Jack Lemmon born on February 8, 1925. He was an American actor. Equally proficient in both dramatic and comic roles. He starred in over sixty films and was nominated for an Academy Award eight times, winning twice. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Lemmon

"Why can't you get thrown out like a decent human being!?" lol
'Take as much time as she (Francis) gave you. I want you to follow your usual routine'. Lol! 👍
Not in other words, those are the perfect ones!
Still one of the best lines ever
It's sad Walter was just too old to play the terminator. He was ear marked for the role. It would've been darker for more humorous.
I use that line myself when I make a point.
@@patriceaqa288 Mathau instead of Schwarzenegger?
I think that line to myself at least once a week! LOL
RIP to both Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. 😥 The Great comedy Duo.
A dynamic duo from (1966-1998).
Now I have to watch "The Bad News Bears" all over again

Good old times when you really had to be a good actor without all those special effects!! One of my all time favorit movies!! Thanks for download 💚
Mine too. When I need cheering up, The Odd Couple is my 'go to' film. Lemmon and Matthau were just awesome.
This film is timeless.

What a great Chemistry those two had. PERFECT COMEDY DUO
"Then go! I want you to go, so go! When are you going?"
With that great Walter Mathhau delivery!! 😆😆😆💗
“What is that? The curse of the cat people?”
I know!!! 🤣🤣
'I remove the curse'.
'Thank you wicked witch of the North'.
Lmao. Great dialogue. Classic!
I got you now Feilx.
There's no place for you to go but Down.
Wow especially at 0:27 I can hear how his voice inspired Harry Shearer's Homer Simpson.
Felix: You know, I have a good mind to leave!🤣🤣🤣
Oscar: Why doesn’t he hear me?
I know I’m talking, I recognize my
Voice!
😂
It's 12 floors felix, not 11 !!
"Whatever happens to me is your responsibility!" 😂 Lol!
Notice the smog - I lived in NYC at the time, and the summer smog was as bad as Los Angeles...

Absolutely hilarious. In my top 3 favorite comedies of all time. SUCH great fun!

Grumpy Old Men - the prequel.
i love this movie, part 2 too
Nice One
They were great ! Klugman and Randall tried but you just can't top Matthau and Lemmon.
I believe they succeeded in topping Matthau and Lemmon.
In the next life ,my N.Y..
